The winners bracket final should be best of 3 not best of 1. For example, CSK is beating GT for the final. However, GT can beat CSK on the actual Final and claim the title, which is dumb.

Good to see that Sheikh Rasheed is a fine fielder. He is another great prospect along with Yash Dhull and Yashaswi.

CSK 172/7 (20)

GT 157 (20)

Chennai Super Kings won by 15 runs and advance to the final of IPL 2023

CSK advance to the IPL final for a 10th time!

172 proved to be enough for them today with no dew on the outfield.

The pitch slowed down, it offered grip and turn for their spinners and Jadeja and Theekshana were excellent.

Figures of 4/46 between them in 8 overs which turned the balance in their favour through the middle-overs. And then Deepak Chahar, who had got rid of Saha with the new ball, came back to break the back of GT by removing Shubman Gill.

The jubilant crowd at Chepauk were given a scare towards the end by Rashid Khan. Once again he looked great with the bat to dispatch some loose bowling from Pathirana and Deshpande.

But there was too much on his shoulders, and CSK also raised their fielding standards in crunch moments to ensure he didn't have much support. Gujarat Titans, the chase masters, couldn't transcend the conditions today.

That's what makes the toss so tricky here. If there was dew, it would've been a completely different scenario.

Tim David is overrated. He cannot play spin at all.

Nehal Wadehra is a much better player than him.

Super Giants need 101 runs in 59 balls.

MI have made a solid comeback , 2 wickets of two balls.

Akash Madhwal - remember the name.

Said it in last game, another Jasprit Bumrah in making. Should be playing for India soon.

Can someone confirm if Akash Madhwal broke Sohail Tanvir's record from IPL 2008?

Watched my first IPL game this season because Mumbai Indians I heard had scraped into the reckoning.

Surprised no one has voted them Champions. So cast the first one for them. No idea about the status or form of other teams. But watching random nobodies like Hooda Foodas who get regularly propped up as some world class talents once again proved one thing to me after all these years. Nothing seems to have changed in the IPL. It's like watching it a decade back. There are a whole bunch of mediocre nobodies who are fit only for the IPL. Almost spit my dinner out btw when I saw Hardik's brother is captain of Lucknow :))) What a tournament lol.

It's Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians for the second qualifier: Chasing 182, just one batter crossed 20 for the Lucknow Super Giants. A five-for. Three run-outs. Losing last 8 wickets for 32 runs. In the last 4 games (including this one) LSG had 4 different opening combinations. And here comes the best part: The openers from their last game weren't even part of the impact subs today. And the one who opened the batting last time LSG beat MI (just over a week ago) batted at 7 today.

That record was already broken by Alzaari joseph with his 6 for 12. He is still the 2nd best 6 for 14. Third best Zampa 6 for 19. Madhwal equalled Anil Kumble's 5 for 5

Covers are coming off it seems but just incase:

IPL Playing Conditions:
-- A playoff match can start as late as 9.40pm without the number of overs being reduced (10 minute interval, time-outs retained).
-- The number of overs in the playoff match may, if necessary, be reduced so that each side has the opportunity to bat for 5 overs.
-- The latest that a five overs per side match can start is 11.56pm (10 minute interval, no timeouts) with a scheduled finish of 12.50am.
-- In the event that it is not possible to schedule a 5 over match to complete by the end of the extra time, the teams will, if conditions permit, play a Super Over to determine the winner. This means that the pitch and ground must be ready for play so that the Super Over can start at the latest by 12.50am.
-- In the event that it is not possible to start the Super Over, the team that finished highest in the league table after the 70 matches of the regular season shall be declared the winner.

Indian media is trying their best to make it a Rohit vs Pandya rivalry. They are trying to cook up a jhagra (fight) between them when there is none just for TRP ratings :)))

Gill should do it against this opponent (in a knockout match) to prove his maturity. No point in bashing just RCB bowlers who can get murdered easily on Chinnaswamy Pitch!

GT needs to explode here at some point of time.

After 12 - 13 overs they would need to take calculated risks.

Hardik Pandya has been a huge failure with the bat in this iPL. His bowling has been decent though. Lets see if he shows up today.

This is the best batting duo for GT. Gill and Sai Sudarshan are their best batsmen.

They have overall a very good team. Saha is the only one who is unfit to be in this team. Thankfully Vijay Shankar and Mohit Sharma are not been burden to them but contributing to the team (if these 2 guys played for RCB they would have not performed even 5% of what they are doing to this team!) Its all about how management smartly utilizes the resources and how the captain make the full use...

CSK, MI & GT seem to have the best team, best management and best captains too... And no surprise them being the top 3 teams in IPL.

In terms of quality of team management, I would rate these 3 teams like this:

1) MI
2) CSK
3) GT

In terms of quality of captaincy:

1) CSK
2) GT
3) MI

In terms of team strength:

1) GT
2) MI
3) CSK

But I hope that team strength wins in the end and so GT ends up winning the tournament again!

Hardik Pandya is playing within himself smartly in this team! He is making sure he is contributing with the ball and captaincy (Just like Dhoni who contributes with the captaincy & wicket-keeping). These 2 guys should be in the team preferably as "captains", only then they will understand how to hide their weakness (weak form in any department) and bring their strengths to the foreground!

Cheap media! They should rather hype a contest like Tilak Verma vs Sai Sudarshan (two promising left handed batsmen especially when there is dearth of left handers in Indian Cricket Team) if they ever intend to do something good to Indian Cricket!

Shubman’s on Fire

Mumbai Indians terrified!!

Only he can be the difference between two teams! He can take the game away from MI. Even though MI has SKY, he will have the scoreboard pressure + Rashid & co to deal with! Let's hope Gill does the same to CSK...

Gill shot range is wider than Babar , Babar can work hard and improve , but he cannot become a Kohli or Gill.

Gill’s intent is on steroids compared to Babar’s intent as well

Love this approach

Change of gears for Gill.. First 22 balls 34, then next 25 balls 65 runs!

Exceptional batting , Gill is looking likely to be Indian captain soon.

Preferably I don't want him to be captain of Indian Team. Also I hope no IPL team teaches him the habit of forcefully captaining a team! I want him to remain in GT team forever under Pandya.

Captaincy is for players like Pandya who can play within themselves. Gill should simply concentrate on his batting and achieve unbelievable things in batting!

Mumbai struggling here , they looking toothless here now , they have to look to do damage control here , need to restrict Gujrat to 210 , cannot let Gujrat go past that .

Its good point , but if offered I do not see him refuse it .

We cannot compare Babar to Gill in acceleration at least.

That would be comparing a Honda Civic in acceleration to Mercedes.

Babar is consistent like Honda.

But to ask why he cant charge like Mercedes is dishonest.

Sharma’s body language is demoralising for any bowler under him

Sharma really doesn’t like Jordan does he?

You picked him to play mate!
