Yes, Punjab and Delhi should go (OR they should get merged with Lucknow and form a team called North Giants or something). Hyderabad has a chance for resurgence, because they have won trophies before. Quality of teams is definitely getting diluted due to quantity of teams, especially in the bowling department! But it is good to see lots of promising young Indian Batsmen showing up this season. In fact they have kept this tournament competitive...

Deccan Chargers did not Sunrisers Hyderabad.

I think IPL should allow 5 foreign players per team to make it more competitive.

Deccan Chargers won in 2009
Sunrisers Hyderabad won in 2016

Shows how much people remember about IPL.

KKR need 56 runs in 24 balls.

Lucknow ahead here , KKR again missing stability in the middle order

Rinku Singh is better than many nepotism players we have played in Indian side

LSG 176/8 (20)

KKR 175/7 (20)

Lucknow Super Giants won by 1 run

Rinku had the Eden Gardens crowd dreaming again. He almost pulled off the impossible once again. But that's not where KKR lost this game. Because the hosts were 61/1 at the end of the powerplay with Roy and Venky Iyer giving them a superb start. But after both openers departed, LSG started their spin choke and there was no respite for KKR. Bishnoi bowled a top spell of 2/23, and Krunal and Gowtham got amongst the wickets as well. And then Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur bowled some tight overs by taking the pace off the ball. KKR needed 40 off the last two overs, but then started the Rinku show.

I would stick with Umran and Arshdeep in this format . Siraj might take rest as he is pivotal for ODIs and Tests this year so in that case Deepak Chahar will be a good pick. He is another genuine wicket taker upfront.

Batting wise, Rinku definitely at 6 but SKY at 3/4 and Pandya at 5. Also, prefer Samson over Kishan. Kishan struggles on sluggish wickets due to poor strike rotation. Samson is more all round but he is very inconsistent which is still fine because it allows Pandya/Rinku to take more time before they start hitting and finish off games with bat.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs are all but set, with Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants already assured of a spot in the next round. The fourth slot is still up for grabs, with the likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals in the fray. As for RCB and MI, their fate is in their own hands, with a specific result earning them the final spot in the knockouts. But, for RR to go through to the next round, both RCB and MI would need to lose their respective matches in a certain manner.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Playoffs Qualification Scenario:
With the best Net Run Rate of the three teams in contention, the Faf du Plessis-led franchise is in the most promising position to go through to the next round. A win over defending champions and table-toppers Gujarat Titans would be enough for them to sail through unless Mumbai Indians' margin of victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad is such that the NRR of Rohit Sharma's side trumps RCB's.

NRR for RCB: +0.180
NRR for MI: -0.128

With Mumbai playing their final match of the league campaign first, the Bengaluru side will have a clear advantage of knowing what sort of a result they would need against GT to qualify.

Mumbai Indians Playoffs Qualification Scenario:
Winning against bottom-table Sunrisers Hyderabad would be enough for Mumbai Indians if Royal Challengers Bangalore suffer a defeat against the Gujarat Titans in their final match later in the day. If RCB too go on to beat GT, then the situation would come to the Net Run Rate, where MI aren't in the most promising position.

For Mumbai to go ahead of Bengaluru's current NRR, they would need to beat Hyderabad by a huge margin. But, even then things could change if RCB go on to beat GT by a margin that helps them surpass MI on NRR.

All in all, MI's playoffs hopes rest in the hands of GT even if they win against SRH.

Rajasthan Royals Playoffs Qualification Scenario:
Not all out of the race, but the Royals don't have their fate in their own hands. For the Sanju Samson-led side to qualify for playoffs, both RCB and MI would need to suffer defeats in their respective final league matches. RR sit on 14 points at present and if both RCB and MI lose, there will be three teams on 14 points each.

RCB NRR: +0.180
RR NRR: +0.148

Since Rajasthan's NRR is better than MI's, they would, the only hurdle in front of them would be the Royal Challengers. But, if the Faf du Plessis' led side lose by a reasonable margin, since the NRR difference between the two sides isn't much, the Royals will go through.

Golden duck for Harry Brook in the last game. Not a memorable IPL for him but SRH could have perhaps used him better.

Not good enough yet for the prestigious IPL, the best franchise league by far. :inti

If you look at SRH batting line up, one wonder how they are languishing bottom of the table:

Mayank
Brook
Markram
Klassen
Glenn Phillips

Thats a top T20 line up for any conditions.

Good death bowling by Mumbai.

Can Akash Madhwal becomes next Jasprit Bumrah?

Remember MI unearthed Bumrah from nowhere in 2013 IPL when no one heard about him. Akash Madhwal has same story, well almost.

can some indian poster explain how the hell did RR mess this up? They were top the charts half way throught he tournament, how did they fall so low and out of the tournament?

Peaked too early but that momentum fizzled out in the business end. The form of Jos Butler also didn't help their cause.

They were bundled out for 59 while chasing 200 something against RCB. RR could not recover from that loss. Their NRR suffered badly.

SRH 200/5 (20)

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

The five-time champions have done what was in their control. Mumbai Indians move to the fourth spot and stay alive! Rajasthan Royals are knocked out and it's wooden spoon for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Clinical chase from the hosts. Chasing 201, they lost the dangerous Kishan in the 3rd over and Rohit looked scratchy.

But Green, promoted to No. 3, came out all guns blazing. He raced away to 30 off 10 which allowed MI to score 60 off the powerplay. Captain Rohit too found his touch after the powerplay and it was carnage from both ends.

While Green notched up a 20-ball fifty, Rohit struck three fours in a row off Umran to bring up his half-century. Mayank Dagar managed to break the 128-run stand by removing Rohit, thanks to a Nitish screamer but that hardly affected Mumbai's scoring rate.

SKY wasted no time to get going and then he gave the strike to Green who was able to hit the winning runs and bring up his century in the process. Now, MI would be praying for a GT win over RCB.

Mumbai Indians' dominant eight-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match knocked Rajasthan Royals out of the race for IPL 2023 playoffs on Sunday. RR all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin reflected back on the Royals season which was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride and wished the best to the teams who are still competing for the final place in the Top 4 spot.

"It was a season with a lot of ups and downs with the rajasthanroyals but not the one which we would have loved it to be. Good luck to all the teams that have gone into the playoffs and to those who are fighting for it tonight," Ashwin wrote in his tweet.

As of now Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the playoffs. Only one spot is available and two teams are competing for that one spot.

Shankar now taking more chances here , with 9 wickets in hand he should be looking to take more chances here .

On your bike RCB!!!

RCB 197/5 (20)

GT 198/4 (19.1)

GT chase down RCB's 197 with 5 balls to spare. We witnessed a vintage Kohli knock in the first innings which powered RCB close to 200. And in reply, it was another classy century from another Indian batter. GT scored 51 in the powerplay and only lost Saha in that period. Vijay Shankar came in at three and wasn't anywhere close to his fluent best but he hung around as Gill was doing what he always does. Kept the scoreboard ticking and ensured that the asking rate never went too high. Both the batters brought up their fifties and recored a 123-run stand. Shankar went 4 4 6 against Vijaykumar Vyshak before eventually perishing to the same bowler. RCB did plug the flow of runs for a while as they managed to dismiss Shanaka and Miller.

Their run rate didn't suffered actually.. run rate wise they're still in 4th position (with a +nrr)..most of the game (they lost) they dominated about 75% but lost in last 4 overs.. they lacks a speedster/death over specialist..

Kohli scored his ton in 62 balls. Gill scored his in 52 balls. Those 10 ball difference is too much in a high scoring match.

Until and unless RCB gets some real bowlers, their team will never win any. Only Siraj is world class. The rest are either chokers or trundlers.

RCB has the same problems that they have 10 or 12 years back. they never tried to address. They will continue flunking in IPL.

Despite the loss this cannot be held against Kohli though. If he had added 20 runs more, Gill would have accelerated more. At the end of the day bowling wins matches. Captaincy wins matches. How come Faf duplessis failed to have a slip and fine third man. Almost 35 to 40 runs went behind the wicket. So many fluke runs were scored by Vijay Shankar. Tactically RCB was extermely poor on the field like always. Guys like MS DHoni do the simple things correctly. That is why he puts his team in better position more often than not. If the batsman is too good fair enough. But you have to do your part as a captain.

Yes good point. Kohli can't be held completely responsible. RCB needs to improve their bowling and the need to identify proper upcoming Indian Players...

I generally don't rate IPL knocks except for a few, but this one by Shubman Gill was something special. It was a high quality knock and you could just sense it that this is Gill's arrival, he is the next big thing for India.

A very very special knock. Announced his arrival to the big boys stage, Shubman Gill

Gujarat Titans won the toss and fielding first against CSK

I think its a poor decision by Titans. Why would you want to chase against a team lead by MSD? The entire USP of Chennai team is to put runs on board and choke the opposition. I think Gujarat is still thinking they are playing in Chinnaswamy and the opposition is RCB. CSK is totally ball game all together.

Shubhman Gill avg just 19 in Chennai stadium without any 50.

Just saying

He would need to score today against the greatest IPL team of all time in their own den in a playoff game. That is what separates men from the boys :bumrah

Suryakumar Yadav outside Wankhede this season:
Runs - 145
Avg - 18
SR - 128

Thats the reason why I don't believe so-called IPL bashers unless they prove in Internationals.

Kohli scored against IPL top-class bowling unit Rasheed Khan, Shami and Noor, these guys are 3 times better than RCB mediocre bowlers.

Lol..this Dube guy thrashed spinners left and right in previous matches.
Today he has no clue against Noor :ma

I have seen enough cricket to know how things goes. Said it at the toss it was poor decision by Gujarat to field first. Chasing against CSK in Chennai is not easy. Its a totally different thing compared to chasing against RCB in Bangalore.

Titans need 101 runs in 57 balls.

Gill is the key here , can he produce another match winning innings :13:

This chase will not be easy , Dhoni is expert in choking opposition with spin while chasing , Big ask for Miller and Tewatia

Is this bowling action legal? I know Malinga had similar action but this guy is just weird

Dhoni has used his bowlers very well here , hard luck for Gujrat , they will have one more chance latter to make the finals.

IPL play offs and knock outs should be 2 legs with one in home and another away.

Only Final should be 1 game in neutral venue.
