If Kohli did not get out in the 1st over, RCB would have been 96/1 instead of 131/2 after 12 overs. The 35 run difference is so crucial in this format.

Yes, he would have scored 50(35) as usual.

And that's the game for MI... Now it is torture to see the rest of the batting (at least we didn't witness Kohli's torture in powerplay).

But good thing there is another Kohli-clone in the opposition (Rohit). RCB bowlers should make sure that he stays at the crease for the full powerplay!

A strong team needs two in-form finishers to win more matches than lose for their team.

GT has Miller and Tewatia.
KKR has Russell( not in-form so KKR were mediocre this year) and Rinku.
MI of 2020 had Pollard and Pandya.
RCB had only ABD till 2021 and Maxwell post 2021. They need both Maxi and DK to fire to clinch the trophy.

No hopes with DK... Yes RCB will fall short again...

GT, CSK are in best shape... Delhi Capitals may also bounce up if they keep playing well..

I do not get how Jordan gets to play in the XI , he leaks runs always , very easy bowler to hit

RCB has decent bowling this season. Hazlewood, Siraj and Hasaranga are class bowlers. But they still cannot defend 200.

MI has some serious fire power in their squad. Kishan, Wadhera, SKY, Tilak Varma are excellent hitters. Their only weak spot is Rohit.

RCB 199/6 (20)

Mumbai Indians won by 6 wkts

Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in an Indian Premier League match on Tuesday. Chasing 200, MI rode on Suryakumar Yadav's 35-ball 83, ably supported by young Nehal Wadhera's unbeaten 34-ball 52, to chase down the target in 16.3 overs. Earlier, Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis smashed half-centuries to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to 199 for six. Sent into bat, RCB lost Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat quickly before Du Plessis (65 off 41 balls) and Maxwell (68 off 33) joined hands to stitch 120 runs in just 67 balls. Towards the end, Dinesh Karthik made an 18-ball-30.

Brief Scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore: 199 for 6 in 20 overs (Glenn Maxwell 68, Faf du Plessis 65; Jason Behrendorff 3/36).

Mumbai Indians: 200 for 4 in 16.3 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 83, Nehal Wadhera 52 not out; Vijaykumar Vyshak 2/37).

It's do or die for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as Faf du Plessis and Co. failed to register a much-needed win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday. Reviving their campaign in match No. 54 of the IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium, record-time winners Mumbai Indians hammered the Virat Kohli-starrer side by 6 wickets to boost their chances of entering the business end of the celebrated tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav's blistering knock of 83 off 35 balls powered Mumbai Indians to a remarkable win over RCB at home. With the win, Rohit's Mumbai Paltan has climbed to the third spot on the IPL 2023 points table. With 12 points from 11 games, Rohit's Mumbai side is only behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 standings.

MI eyeing top-two finish

If Mumbai end up winning their last three games of the ongoing season, Rohit and Co. even bag a top-two finish on the IPL 2023 points table. Mumbai Indians will meet Gujarat Titans on Friday at Wankhede. The Men In Blue will then meet Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday. Mumbai Indians will play their final league game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 21 at home. MI will have to enhance their Net Run-Rate (-0.255) to further boost their chances to enter the playoffs.

RCB cannot afford a defeat

Bangalore will not only have to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad in their away games, but RCB are now also tasked to upstage Gujarat in their final league game of the IPL 2023 at home. After being humbled by Mumbai Indians in the high-scoring contest on Tuesday, Bangalore cannot afford a defeat in the remainder of the IPL 2023. With 10 points from 11 games, RCB find themselves seventh in the IPL 2023 standings.

Where will CSK finish this season?

Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings will play two of their remaining three games of the IPL 2023 at the Chepauk. The Yellow Brigade recently hammered Mumbai Indians in the second IPL Clasico. Dhoni and Co. have picked up 13 points from 11 games this season. Thanks to their healthy NRR, CSK can still compete for the fourth spot even after losing their final three league games of the season. Dhoni's CSK side has a 3-2 record at home in IPL 2023. CSK are scheduled to take on Delhi Capitals (home), Kolkata Knight Riders (home) and DC (away) again in their remaining fixtures this season.

DC still in playoff race?

Delhi Capitals will meet Dhoni's CSK at the Chepauk on Wednesday. After playing Punjab Kings (PBKS) twice, DC will host CSK in their final league game of the IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 20. DC will have to win three of their last four matches to remain in the playoff race. Delhi can finish with 16 points if they end up winning all of their remaining games. DC's NRR of -0.529 is the worst in the IPL 2023. David Warner and Co. can even secure the fourth spot with 14 points if the results of other matches go Delhi's way this season.

MI has some serious fire power in their squad. Kishan, Wadhera, SKY, Tilak Varma are excellent hitters. Their only weak spot is Rohit.

All these seniors (Rohit, Kohli, etc) cannot be removed by IPL owners so easily because IPL is aided by BCCI. If MI was running their team as a completely private body, Rohit would be nowhere near playing XI...

KKR 149/8 (20)

RR 151/1 (13.1)

Rajasthan Royals won by 9 wkts

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Yashasvi Jaiswal

==

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the fastest half-century in IPL history and Sanju Samson slammed 48 as Rajasthan Royals comprehensively defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets.

Jos Buttler departed early but RR dominated the game and were able to win the encounter with more than six overs to play.

Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal's four-wicket haul helped Rajasthan Royals to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to 149/8 in 20 overs in the IPL 2023 match on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, Venkatesh Iyer top-scored for KKR with 57 off 42 balls after openers Jason Roy (10) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (18) could not convert their starts at the Eden Gardens, both falling to seasoned left-arm pacer Trent Boult. Skipper Nitish Rana (22) too got out after getting a start.

In-form leg-spinner Chahal finished with excellent figures of 4/25, continuing his fine run of form. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl against KKR.

Lot of talk and excitement on social media around Yashaswi Jaiswal playing for India in the near future but I was thinking since Franchise Cricket is the future and is bigger than international cricket, it should be time for Rajasthan Royals fans to be excited about the future.

The India talks can take a back seat.

Many people are hyped because of IPL. But Jaiswal is not one among them. He has incredible temperament for first class cricket. He carries the same aggression. Additionally he has the temperament. I still don't think T20 is his best format. He plays this all out aggressive role for RR to complement Buttler who starts slowly. He may not be consistent with this approach in the long run. I am curious to see him in other formats more than this. Ruturaj also sizzled in List A cricket scoring 8 centuries in 2 seasons with high strike rates. Then there is GIll. They need a run. Sure t hey might struggle with newer roles playing for India for a while. But once they get the hang of it they will shine brightly.

After Rajasthan Royals' comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders, opening batter Jos Buttler was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Buttler, hence was fined 10 Percent of his match-fee, a statement from the Indian Premier League confirmed. It isn't fully clear as to what act from Buttler earned him the penalty but the decision is likely to have come in the wake of the English opener's reaction to his run-out early in the game.

"Mr. Buttler admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the IPL release read.

Buttler got run out without scoring following a mix up with Yashasvi Jaiswal who played a special knock to help Royals win the game by nine wickets.

Pandya meant it really when he said we can send 3 Indian teams to compete in world cricket (I think he meant to say in T20s). But the sad thing is we usually send "Z" team as our 1st choice team full of worn-out players. Hence people mock at us! It is a shame that we failed to select a dynamic T20 side barring that 2007 side! Ever since then we never understood how to select a T20 team (in simple, every year there should be at least 5 replacements/fresh players/hunger players in the 16-men squad! But instead we give comebacks to players who played like a decade back!)

Rashid's late blitz in vain as Mumbai beat Gujarat by 27 runs, SKY slams 49-ball 103

Mumbai Indians continued the winning momentum in IPL 2023 as they defeated Gujarat Titans by 27 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.

Batting first Mumbai piled a gigantic 218/5 on the board with Suryakumar Yadav leading the charge. Batting at a strike-rate of 210.20, the batter finished unbeaten 103 off 49. He hammered eleven boundaries and six maximums during his knock.

In response Gujarat Titans lost their Top 3 – Wriddhiman Saha, Hardik Pandya, and Shubman Gill – inside the powerplay. Piyush Chawla then removed Vijay Shankar in the first ball after the powerplay.

Gujarat kept losing wickets at regular intervals and fell behind in the run chase before Rashid Khan added some respite in GT's camp. The tailender scored an unbeaten 79 off 32 balls, which featured three boundaries and ten maximums. Rashid's effort helped Gujarat reach 191/8 in 20 overs.

Rashid had an equally good outing with the ball as well. The Afghan spinner scalped four out of the five wickets Mumbai lost and conceded 30 runs in his four overs.

Opting to bat, SRH managed 182 for six after their batters failed to convert their starts. In reply, LSG raced to victory with four balls to spare to return to winning ways after three matches. Besides Mankad, who scored an unbeaten 45-ball-64, Marcus Stoinis (40) and Nicholas Pooran (44 not out) provided valuable contributions to keep their playoff hopes alive. Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his side's seven-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. The South African, who top-scored with a 29-ball 47 to push their total to 182/6, had an animated chat with the leg umpire. He also expressed his dissatisfaction while talking to the broadcasters. "Klaasen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 which states the use of public criticism/inappropriate comment in the IPL's Code of Conduct," IPL said in a statement.

Avesh Khan bowled a waist-high full toss to Abdul Samad but leg umpire Akshay Totre did not call it a no-ball.

SRH called for a DRS but to their horror, TV umpire Yeshwant Barde also ruled it in favour of the bowling team.

An unruly crowd behaviour followed the incident as Klaasen criticised it in the mid-innings break.

"Disappointed with the crowd to be honest, that's not what you want. That also broke the momentum, not great umpiring either," Klaasen said.

Mishra reprimanded

Lucknow Super Giants' veteran India spinner Amit Mishra was also reprimanded for breaching the IPL's Code of Conduct.

"The leg-spinner admitted to level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of IPL's Code of Conduct which states abuse of equipment during the match. Mr Mishra accepted the sanction." For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding, the statement added.

"They Hit On The Head": Jonty Rhodes' Startling Revelation From Hyderabad Crowd Chaos
From the crowd chaos during SRH vs LSG match, reports emerged suggesting that fans threw nuts and bolts on the field, disappointed over certain decisions.

Crowd trouble marred Lucknow Super Giants' impressive victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Saturday. As a few decisions went against SRH on the field, fans turned rogue and started to throw objects on the field, prompting the match to come to a halt for a brief interval. After a report claimed that nuts and bolts were thrown at the LSG dugout by fans, the franchise's fielding coach Jonty Rhodes revealed that one of the object hit their player Prerak Mankad on the head.

"Not at the dugout, but at the players. They hit Prerak Mankad on the head while he was fielding at long on. #noton," Rhodes wrote on Twitter, reacting to the report.

— Jonty Rhodes (@JontyRhodes8) May 13, 2023
The altercation began when the third umpire decided to deny SRH's Abdul Samad a waist-high no-ball against LSG's Avesh Khan in the third ball of the 19th over.

Initially, the on-field umpire deemed it as a no-ball but, LSG decided to review the decision. The matter went to the third umpire and he decided to overturn the initial decision which enraged the fans as well as SRH batter Heinrich Klaasen. The South African batter went to the umpire to protest against the decision in an animated fashion.

As everybody on the field started to process the decision, LSG members were seen pointing at the crowd. The actual incident that provoked the fans has not been revealed but reports emerged that fans threw nuts and bolts at the LSG dugout.

The game was halted and there are reports that the on-field umpire had to run all the way to the dugout and try to calm down things. Andy Flower was seen having a chat with the umpire as well. Things started to get ugly as de Kock and Klaasen, the two South Africans were having a chat.

During the mid-innings interview, Klaasen shared his disappointment regarding the decision as well as the way the crowd reacted to the decision.

I don't think I've ever seen an IPL with as low quality as this year's.

Nortje, Rabada, Wood, Archer, Southee, De Kock and the likes barely played, we are mostly getting to see some Yash or Markande or Suyyash bowling to some Mankad or Rawat or Wadhera... I don't see much international quality

Some old internationals like Faf, Narine, Russell, Warner (well past his best) are playing... Others are average players like Jordan, Theekshana, Naveen Haq, Mayers, Pooran.. They are not big stars.

The situation is such that the likes of Kedar Jadhav are getting called up as replacements who are sitting in commentary box. Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra are getting wickets.

SA20 earlier this year had far better quality per team.

After 5 wins in 11 matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) see themselves wanting a late push to boost their playoffs qualification chances. The Faf du Plessis-led side takes on Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals who are also outside the top four at present. The Royals, with 6 wins in 12 matches, have a slightly better scenario than the Bengaluru side but they also need a string of positive results towards the end to book their spot in the next round. The scenario for the Royals isn't as stiff as the Royal Challengers, who will be all but out of playoffs race with a defeat on Sunday.

Royal Challengers Bangalore playoffs qualification scenario:

It is almost a must-win game for Virat Kohli's RCB. The franchise needs to win all three of its remaining games to remain a strong contender for a spot in the playoffs. Three wins from where would see them bag 16 points which is likely to be enough for a 3rd or 4th spot in the table.

Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders could be competing with RCB for those spots. A win for Chennai Super Kings tonight would see them confirm a spot in the final 4.

RCB's Net Run-Rate of -0.345 is an issue for them. Hence, they simply can't afford another defeat.

Rajasthan Royals playoffs qualification scenario:

If the Royals win the match, they will go third in the points table, significantly boosting their playoffs chances. Though the Royals also need to win both of their remaining matches to have keep their playoffs fate in their own hands, even one victory from two matches could be enough for them to qualify if a few other results go their way.

With a healthy Net Run Rate of +0.6333, Rajasthan are in a better position than Bengaluru to qualify. But, if they are to qualify with just 14 points under the belt, one of MI and LSG should also remain on 14 points while RCB, PBKS and KKR should remain behind them in the race.

Opting to bat, skipper Faf du Plessis (55 off 44) and Glenn Maxwell (54 of 33) scored half-centuries to help RCB post a competitive 171 for five. Earlier, du Plessis and Maxwell stitched a 69-run partnership for the second wicket to set the platform for the total.
