KKR has been very poor in last few years , the players have been playing reckless cricket through out.

Sunrisers need 71 runs in 49 balls.

Gyderabad in command here , and it looks like KKR will be first team to be officially knocked out of the tournament this season.

KKR need to look beyond Russell and Narine now , they both are spent force , no point in paying them such big amount and getting this kind of results . These two are not worth . KKR has been bringing in over priced players , instead of utility players.

Looks like we are on for another win!!!

What's the point of selecting certain players like Glenn Phillips if you are not going to play irrespective of the form of other overseas batters like Brook? Doesn't make sense really.

Same goes for KKR, why do you need both Gurbaz and Roy when you already have good Indian batters in Rana, Rinku, Iyer, they can easily play Southee Or Ferguson instead of playing all unknown indian bowlers. Also Narine is not doing zilch, why don't you give someone else a chance?

Shardul Thakur and Vaibhav Arora took two wickets each as Sunrisers Hyderabad fell five runs short in the run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Aiden Markram (41) and Heinrich Klaasen (36) took the hosts to a good position but they kept losing wickets and were not able to finish off the match.

Earlier, Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana played crucial knocks as Kolkata Knight Riders went on to post a total of 171/9 against SunRisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2023 match.

Nitish Rana got out after a 31-ball 42, while Rinku perished after a well-crafted 46. Marco Jansen had struck twice in the second over to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer, respectively. T Natarajan also bagged two wickets to finish with 2/30

Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans, 48th Match

Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and have opted to bat

Teams:

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI): Wriddhiman Saha(w), Hardik Pandya(c), Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami, Joshua Little

Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson(w/c), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Adam Zampa, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal

Noor has made rapid strides. He and Rashid will be a force in the world cup where drier conditions will make them unplayable.

RR 118 (17.5)

GT 119/1 (13.5)

Gujarat Titans won by 9 wkts

==

GT couldn't chase down 130 in the previous game.

Today, even if they were told to chase double of that, it felt like they might have...

What a thumping reply, sign of a champion team. The day started with Pandya getting the better of Buttler, and then Jaiswal was run out by skipper Samson. Josh Little then picked up Samson, before the Afghan duo of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad ran through that middle-order. It looked like the hosts might even struggle to get past 100 at one stage, but then Trent Boult played a few shots to get RR to 118.

That target though was no match, as GT replied confidently with both Saha and Gill getting amongst the runs. Gill was deceived by a leg spinner from Chahal, but that wicket probably made things worse for them. As Gill was replaced by Hardik, and he totally latched onto Zampa. He smoked him for three sixes and a four, and was in a hurry to finish things.

A resounding win for GT, who have Saha and Rashid get back to form, and Hardik Pandya is scoring runs quickly once again. Rajasthan will brush it aside as an off day, but the problem is these off days have been coming far too regularly now for Sanju Samson and co.

When will we realize that Rohit is now a player who is finished! (But he may continue to play the next 2 world cups!)

Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the toss and have opted to bat

Delhi Capitals (Playing XI): David Warner(c), Philip Salt(w), Mitchell Marsh, Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey, Aman Hakim Khan, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed

Pathirana, Chahar, Deshpande star as Chennai Super Kings defeat Mumbai Indians

MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Mumbai Indians ended up getting off to a disastrous start. Rohit Sharma chose to send in Cameron Green to open with Ishan Kishan ahead of him but that experiement failed. Green fell to Tushar Deshpande in the second over of the match while Deepak Chahar got both Ishan and Rohit in the over after that. Rohit thus fell to a second consecutive duck and a fourth single digit score this season. The ship was steadied by Nehal Wadhera and Suryakumar Yadav, who put up a 55-run stand but Wadhera continued the good work. He scored 37 runs in a 54-run stand with Tristan Stubbs for the fifth wicket, eventually getting dismissed on 54 off 51 balls. However, his wicket and the fall of Tim David has helped CSK assert their control over the innings. MI were eventually restricted to a total of 139/8.

Kohli with yet another snail paced innings. Opening in a T20 game and going below 120 S/R is criminal.

Kohli 55(46), wastes 40% of the overs and commentators saying it is a very good innings :))

I hope someone calls him out for his inefficiency.

Problem is he can't make up for it later! He will get out trying to explode... Hence he should not be opening. He should come at No.4 or No.5 and rotate the strike (even if he can't hit big)

Only English (in a polite way) & Australian (in a bold way) Commentators have the guts to say so! But certainly not in IPL media, perhaps in tournaments not run by BCCI...

He is a weak T20 player. Should not be playing T20's, but RCB makes him open. People criticize Babar Azam, but Kohli is no better. I feel he is worse than him in the past 2 or 3 years. Very rarely Kohli ever scores at 150 S/R.

When was Dinesh Karthik "dangerous" perhaps once upon a time against Bangladesh (commentators are there for just the sake of it!)

BTW it is a decent score for RCB on this pitch! Courtesy Lomror (difference of at least 20 runs)

In Indian conditions Kohli can be absolutely stifled with spin. Even in world T20 spin did the trick. He can accelerate. Slightly bouncier/pacy wicket he can still produce blinders. But sluggish, slow, turning wickets he can't do the same

Salt is a very hard hitter

I don’t think he has a light bat either. Must be a 2’10-2’12 in his hand

Text book example of how T20 should be played albeit DC is playing this brand very late. Once you get a start you don't stop. You just keep going.

Phil Salt's assault helps Delhi Capitals beat RCB by 7 wickets

Phil Salt emerged as the standout performer of the evening as Delhi Capitals secured a seven-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023 clash at home on Saturday. The opener scored 87(45) as Delhi completed the stiff 182 chase in 16.4 overs. He along with his skipper David Warner got Delhi off to an explosive start and added 60 in 5.1 overs before Warner fell for 22(14). Mitchell Marsh then joined the proceedings and kept the ante. He was dismissed for 26(17), following which Rilee Rossouw walked out. The batter scored an unbeaten 35 off 22 balls. Earlier, powerful fifties by Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror drove RCB to 181/4 in 20 overs after they opted to bat. Lomror returned unbeaten on 54 off 29 balls, while Kohli scored 55(46).

Gujarat Titans won by 56 runs

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Shubman Gill

Gujarat Titans' juggernaut continued in the Indian Premier League as the defending champions crushed Lucknow Super Giants by 56 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday to remain perched on the top of the table. This was their eighth win in 11 matches, taking their tally to 16 points and closer to the play-offs. Gujarat Titans, propelled to their highest-ever total of 227 for two courtesy a franchise record 142-run partnership between Shubman Gill (94 not out) and Wriddhiman Saha (81), came back strongly in the second half of LSG's chase to emerge winners in a comprehensive manner.

Chasing 228, LSG stroked their way to a strong 102 for one at the halfway mark but the wheels came off eventually, with GT tying down their batters with tight overs.

Despite Quinton de Kock's brilliant 70 in his first game this season and Kyle Mayers' brisk 48 at the top, LSG middle-order crumbled against a mountainous chase to concede the contest, finishing at 171 for seven in 20 overs.

Lucknow Super Giants knocked off 50 runs from the target in only four overs with both Mayers and de Kock finding momentum.

While Mayers began with three consecutive fours off Hardik Pandya in the second over, the third from Mohammad Shami yielded 19 runs with de Kock hitting a couple of fours and Mayers getting a six and a four.

Mayers was also severe on Rashid Khan in the fifth, hitting him for a six and a four to collect 14 runs as LSG reached 72 for no loss after the powerplay.

However, a brilliant catch from Rashid in the ninth over broke LSG's opening stand at 88.

The Afghan player covered a distance of 26 metres from deep square leg and managed to hold on to the ball while diving to his right, getting rid of Mayers for 48 off 32 balls (7x4s, 2x6s) off Mohit Sharma.

But de Kock continued to flourish, flicking Hardik powerfully over midwicket for a six to take LSG to 102 for one halfway through.

The horror run this IPL, meanwhile, continued for Deepak Hooda (11) who managed to get into double digits for only the third time in 10 innings, but hit a full toss off Shami straight to deep midwicket.

LSG failed to hit even a single four in overs 11-14 as Gujarat seized control.

Marcus Stoinis (4) succumbed with Mohit getting him caught at short third man in the 15th over.

LSG skidded further when Rashid cleaned up de Kock for a fine 70, coming off 41 balls with three sixes and seven fours, while Nicholas Pooran (3) fell to Noor Ahmad.

Earlier, Gill's unbeaten 94 and Saha's brutal 81 fired Gujarat Titans to 227 for two - the fourth highest total this season.

Saha and Gill went hammer and tongs from the word go to add 142 runs for the first wicket in only 12.1 overs, setting the franchise record for highest partnership for any wicket, as LSG had no respite despite deploying eight bowlers into the attack.

It was also the second-best stand for any team and for any wicket in this IPL, whereas for Gujarat Titans, the total was their highest-ever in IPL since their debut last season.

Saha struck an overall four sixes and 10 fours to make his runs from 43 balls whereas Gill finished close to what would have been a splendid maiden IPL century, hitting seven sixes and two fours in his 51-ball knock.

Gujarat Titans also bettered their overall record of most runs in the powerplay.

Having hit 65 against Chennai Super Kings here in the season-opener, the Saha-Gill pair went ballistic to add 78 runs in the first six overs, scoring at 13 runs per over.

Saha got off the blocks quickly to put pressure on the visiting bowlers, hitting Mohsin Khan for a couple of fours and Avesh Khan for a six and a four in the first two overs of the innings.

The Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter continued with his assault on Mohsin in the left-armer's second over, hitting him for a couple of sixes and fours each to take the defending champions past the 50-run mark inside four overs.

Gill, so far steady at the other end, smacked a six over long-on off Krunal Pandya and in the last over of the powerplay, Saha brought up his fifty off only 20 balls with a six off Yash Thakur.

Saha and Gill's century stand came up in the ninth over itself with the latter hitting Ravi Bishnoi inside out for a six over cover.

Saha looked set for his second IPL century - his first came nine years ago in IPL 2014 - but a sharp catch at deep midwicket by substitute Prerak Mankad off Avesh ended his assault.

GT captain Hardik Pandya played a handy cameo hitting two fours and a six to make 15 off 25 balls. David Miller hit a couple of fours and a six to make 21 not out off 12 balls.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Glenn Phillips

Glenn Phillips provided the boost towards the end before Abdul Samad took SunRisers Hyderabad home in the chase of 215 runs against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday.

It was all over for SRH when Sandeep Sharma removed Samad when the side needed 5 runs off the final ball.

To SRH's good luck, it was a no-ball as Sandeep had overstepped. Needing 4 off the final ball then, Samad finished the game with a six. Earlier, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler were at their very best as the duo helped RR post 214 for 2.

Buttler scored 95 off 59 balls while Samson hit 66 not out off 38 balls. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat.

How are the TV ratings for this year's IPL ?

Not sure about the numbers but TV viewership could would be a bit lower because it’s streaming on JioCinema for free and that too in 4K with lots of camera angles that you can chose.

Skipper Nitish Rana scored a half-century (51 off 38 balls), while West Indian middle-order batter Andre Russell (42) and Rinku Singh (21 not out) played some fine strokes at the back end as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Punjab Kings by five wickets in a last-ball IPL thriller on Monday. Chasing 180 for victory, KKR scored 182/5, with Russell playing a pivotal role in the game, hitting three sixes in Sam Curran's 19th overs to bring his team closer to the target. Rinku then scored a four off the last ball of the innings to signal KKR's victory.

Earlier, KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy grabbed three wickets for 26 runs but Punjab Kings still managed a fighting 179/7 with skipper Shikhar Dhawan scoring a half century.

Dhawan (57 off 47 balls) was also involved in a 53-run partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma (21) and laid the foundation for later-order batters to set a competitive total.

Brief scores: Punjab Kings: 179 for 7 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 57; Varun Chakravarthy 3/26, Harshit Rana 2/33).

Kolkata Knight Riders: 182 for 5 in 20 overs (Jason Roy 38, Nitish Rana 51, Andre Russell 42, Rinku Singh 21 not out; Rahul Chahar 2/23, Nathan Ellis 1/29).

Chris Jordan replaces injured Jofra Archer at Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday named Chris Jordan as a replacement for the injured Jofra Archer for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023

Jordan, who made his IPL debut in 2016, has so far played 28 IPL matches and has 27 wickets against his name.

The speedster has represented England in 87 T20Is and has scalped 96 T20I wickets.

Jordan joins MI for INR 2 Crore.

Today must watch match. Two box office teams with huge fan following in an almost do or die clash. Hope it is an interesting one. Rohit vs Kohli.

Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 54th Match

Mumbai Indians have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis(c), Anuj Rawat, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik(w), Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(w), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya, Jason Behrendorff

Somehow Tilak Varma not in the playing XI when he is the best batsman in the squad along with SKY.

At least this time Kohli did not waste too many deliveries. He is gone for 1(4).

Yes he should never open again... Should come at No.4 if he plays (in all formats, all leagues, all teams). RCB Team Management should start this trend (like they did with his captaincy!) He should not come at No.3 for Indian team too, he is too old for that now!

If Kohli did not get out in the 1st over, RCB would have been 96/1 instead of 131/2 after 12 overs. The 35 run difference is so crucial in this format.

Maxwell is the second name of destruction on an absolute belter.

There is absolutely no doubt about it! Power play overs and 4 overs leading to that are so crucial... The momentum is so important... He just kills it every time....

Problem is RCB playing only with 3 batsmen (Faf, Maxwell & Lomror) + 1 Anti-Batsman (Kohli)

People like ABD retire well before their prime just to make sure they don't face embarrassments... While Kohli will continue to play with so-called Josh and upset the team's composition (at least he should not bat up the order like this! Even Dhoni is batting at No.8 now as a specialist keeper & captain!)
