What's new

England [246 & 271] beat India [273 & 184] by 60 runs to take an unassailable 3-1 series lead

Don't really know why English commies r still blabbering about that lbw decision. Bat, pad and ball all were too close to each other and there were enough doubts and benefits of the doubt should always go to the batsman.

The worst thing is how quickly the third umpire made his decision. He sees a spike and makes his decision. He still needs to interpret what's in front of him.

Never see more lucky batsman than kohli. It's like every time he keeps getting 2 - 3 chances but great thing is he makes most of his luck.

If they are not sure then why take review?

LOL how can the 3rd umpire decide so quickly that it was not out? Thats just impossible.

Very very poor.

Lol there was no doubt. 3rd Umpre saw a spike so immediately thought it was inside edge.

He didn’t observe it could have been bat to pad which clearly it was.

Clearly the Umpre made a huge error but it can happen in cricket. Kohli needs to make most of it.

Umpires can only give a decision in favor of the bowler when he's absolute sure about it. In case of kohli's lbw, the onfield umpires felt that there was bat involved, even the TV replay didn't confirm that there was no bat involved. Hence the decision went in kohli's favor.

But biased English commies aren't happy with it. Not surprising though.

India missed a trick here by not sending Pandya at 2 down to go ballistic and get a quickfire 30odd..... This is what Kapil Dev used to do, pulverize and demolish the bowlers confidence....

India bottling it as usual. Like i said yesterday. India have had chances to be looking at 4-0 series win here.. instead its looking like 3-1

Sorry to see Kohli playing very defensively, India can't get anywhere close to 245 unless Kohli starts taking some risks..

Bruce Oxenford has actually become an average Umpre latley.

He’s too focused on other nonsense like bowlers stepping on the danger zone and wearing that stupid arm guard.

Focus on getting the right decisions man.

Did u even watch it or are you commenting from what you read on cricinfo. There was no inside edge there only if umpire would hv used some common sense ..

5 wickets in the session. 199 to get, England win would've been certain if Rashid wasn't useless :(

India still in this, just.

England have been red hot with the ball and in the field today. They are favourites.

Lol. Ridiculous suggestion. A hack like Pandya wouldn't have survived 10 balls on that wicket considering the way ball was swinging and seaming there.

Indians have played on much tougher pitches of spin than this. That horror from 3rd umpire can prove costly for England.

Btw are there any videos completing the ball tracking on the controversial decision of Kohli? Considering Dharma had given it not out originally, I am curious to see if the ball stuck him in line with stumps or was marginal?

Yes, I have watched the reply multiple times and I have seen the bat to hit the pad, but at the same time the ball was really close to the bat and I personally couldn't see daylight between them. As a matter of fact umpires didn't see it either. Therefore, the spike on snicko could've come from bat hitting the pad but there's a strong possibility that spike on snicko appeared due to bat hitting the ball.

Point is, there was enough doubt. U can't give a batsman out if u aren't 100% sure about it. Hence, the decision went in kohli's favor.

Three reds.

Yep they showed it.
Struck in line. All 3 reds.

Match mazay ka ho gaya hai us decision sai..

That was a shocker from the third umpire. Two horrible decisions in two overs.First Kohli then Rahane.England need to get Kohli out asap.

Moeen Ali looks unplayable, won't be a bad ploy to use feet for 2-3 balls in the over and see if it affects his line and length.

Lot of spin in the 4th innings like it was expected. Don't see India crossing 150 here.

The lbw decision favoring kohli reminds me of the saying “rich keeps getting richer, and poor getting poorer.”

Being in as good of a form as he has been, it helps that he’s gotten a few extra lives in this series, while many out of form batsmen simply haven’t had any luck to help them one bit.

Kohli was out of luck in his previous tours, it all balances out over time.

obviously there was no day light between bat and ball however you also hv to consider the trajectory of the ball once it past the bat, there was absolutely no change in the direction of the ball. Also, if u looked at the replay from the front on camera, it was clear that the ball had missed the bat however umpire thought otherwise and i think it had all to do with the on field call, had Dhramasena given that out, the third umpire would hv gone with the onfield decision. I personally have issues with On field call because i hv seen umpires favouring of one team knowing that the decision would stay with them as Umpires Call and there was one umpire actually admitting it in an interview.

harldy unplayable. Rahane an average player of spin is playing him easily.

On what basis are you saying Rahane is average against spin?

He averages more against spin than pace.

If I remember correctly he scored hundreds in both innings on a Feroz Shah Kotla dustbowl in 2015.

Just keep at it and a wicket will come sooner or later... it's very tough to bat out there.

These two need to bat long. It is tough out there and very hard for a new batsmen to get runs. One wicket and a collapse can happen.

Kohli needs to get a 100. Luck is on his side. If he takes India over the line, trust me India is coming for 3-2 and Kohli will do a bradman

Never understood why rashid plays test matches. He is like imran tahir

To be fair, quality test level wrist spinners are few and far between.

I don't think there has been a single one since 2008 when Kumble retired.

Long way to go.

These two need to a together till 175 for India to have a realistic chance.

When Pant comes out he should just look to play his natural game. He's batted on pitches like this in Ranji. His best bet is to treat this as just another Ranji game.

Normally this is the time when I get cocky about our chances, but after South Africa and 1st Test ..all I expect is a collapse.

gulf between the quality of bowling in tests and Ranji cant be ignored...

True. Completely missed him.

My point was that quality test level wrist spinners are much rarer than finger spinners.

For example we have had many finger spinners since 2008 like Ashwin, Lyon, Herath, Swann, Jadeja, etc but only Yasir as far as wrist spinners is concerned.

Rashid Khan may be a potential great if he gets to play a lot more test cricket

Squeaky bum time, not sure which way this is going to go. But I think it will end today.

Indias game this. If they can get to 145 with only 4 wickets down then its their game

If these two stick around for another 50 runs, English bowlers will feel the pressure.

The most important hour of the series coming up...
