What's new

England beat Pakistan by 141 runs in the 3rd Test

Sami just needs to improve a couple of little things and we have a decent opener. Good decision to select him it seems.

I think Finn is Pakistan's favorite bowler, ahead of Moeen

Has Pakistan's fielding really been any worse than England's on this tour ?

So much for 'Finn was bowling well in the second innings'

That is never going to happen in tests. You can easily bowl negative lines and bouncers where batsmen will never be able to score

Umpires are very harsh on negative bowling down the legside, Sohail got wided for one of those earlier.

We're playing with two Test openers for the first time in ages, i.e., Sami and Azhar.

Nice drive from Azhar. Crucial that he's found his form in this series.

Decent but what about shezzie, umar, saud shakeel and jaahid.

Plus amir yamin and amad bhutt as allrounders.

Zafar, asghar, mo nawaz and usama mir as back up spinners

We got all bases covered except for a fast bowler!
Let's take it one step at a time. We hv to use this tour to iron out our deficiencies in the batting line up and also try to find am all rounder for the tours down under. Too much of changing would hurt our chances of beating Australia. This is our best chance ever to win a test series on Australia provided our batsmen put their hands up n put enough runs for our bowlers to choke Australia. This isn't the strongest Australian team we hv encountered for tears and can be beaten in their back though it would really take some doing.

Can't help but think Shezhad would be perfect for this match situation.

Sami does get that front pad a bit too far across at times. Could get him into trouble if someone is bringing the ball back at him.

Good evening boss, you are still awake past mid-night on a Monday morning? Old habbit die hard, you know, almost bunked office to watch Strac bowling & Lankan's whipping those ... you know. It's so frustrating that summer stays only for 3 months here & Sunday comes once a week .................. so I am not watching to avoid domestic violence. Going by your description on MoHa's dismissal -

Boss - do you want to bet with me that MoHa 'll play at Oval & against WI as well, which should be sufficient for AUS tour.

I do understand what you have written here, in fact his last 2 Test was replica of 1st innings - cutting long hops without rolling the wrist. BUT, I have amazing knowledge about PAK cricket & the understanding of their batting thoughts, trust me; I am not self boasting here - you have no idea how highly Hafeez is rated among Pakistani ranks. Here in PP, we do some chit-chats, which none of the decision makers read, in fact I am not sure how much most of them are aware of what it's discussed here or even if it exists beyond a face book like fun blog.

This guy MoHa; is the only Pakistani beneficiary of 9/3 - but to his credit, he is an awesome timer of the ball. On flat belters, when he can hit through the line with planted feet, a treat to watch. Now, there are are 2 issues -

1. PAK domestic wickets are absolute disgrace, most successful player is Fawads & Manzoor &Latifs & Farhats - Zero back lift, no flair, nothing on the rise, basically dogged defence & bottom handed butchers. In that context, trust me MoHa looks like what Gray Sobers or Rohan Kanhai looked like in 60s, when average scoring rate was 2 & Ken Barrington, Geoff Boycott was epitome of batting

2. PAK's batting culture isn't mature enough to understand the difference between Dubai & Darban. I can categorically say that I have listened enough of last 4 CS - Farhat's FIL, Qasim, Rashid & Waseem Baaaaaaaaaaaaaari (If you know Urdu, Hindi or Bengali, you would have understood why so many a there), and long before Amir Sohail - EACH & EVERY ONE rates MoHa almost at per with Mazid Khan in terms of talent. Batting skills in PAK is measured by individual shot - how good you have executed the last ball - NOT by the duration of innings or the context of the match.

You have no idea, how much backing MoHa has - I can categorically tell you that, Malik lost 4 years of ODI career for him, Azhar is not opening to make sure that there are 2 opener's slot for grab & Misbah won't try any all-rounder as long as MoHa clears his bowling Test.

People think that MoHa was booted from T20 Captaincy - that's the biggest bluff. This guy is educated & cunning - he knew leading this struggling unit & going into rat race with Afridi won't help him, neither he has the "Balls" to lead from the front. Better gain it somewhere else - result - this guy is the highest paid PAK Cricketer, only regular in 3 formats, bats at his preferred spot always, fields as well & can command a spot as specialist Batsman after bowling ban, despite claiming that he is in the team as all-rounder (all 3 facets).

If an intelligent guy knows the buffoons around him, it's difficult to stop him. This guy knew that after T20 WC, there is a storm coming - got injured. 2015 WC has cost at least 4 careers - Umar, Maqsood, YK & Afridi - this guy just walked in the team after WC against BD & kept his spot with 8 runs in 3 innings & 0/37 in 8 overs.

You live in AUS, if you have any scope, please alert Arthur's wife - her huby is walking on thin ice berg; if he try any mickey with PAK's National Treasure, he'll lose a lucrative highly paid job. This guy is one innings away from PAK’s greatness – if not at Oval he’ll get that chance in 2018.

I think he should replace Hafeez.
Also, everyone saying that Azhar should open should know that #3 needs to be able to face new ball and if he can't then middle order is exposed. So it's good that Azhar bats at #3 to protect quick wickets from falling.

No not yet.;)

Anybody else see Jimmy picking at the ball.
InshaAllah these 2 can stay until tea

Wow! I have a horrible feeling that you might be right, which is incredibly depressing!

I have never seen a worse Test opener. And I've seen Shan Masood and Imran Farhat and Shadab Kabir!

Solid Platform set by Azar and Aslam, really hope Pakistan can win this. They are capable of winning they just need to build partnerships like last innings and if Pak wins they are easily the best team from the subcontinent and probably the 2nd best test side currently after England......

Wow Pakistan can actually chase this. Never thought I'd see the day when Pak batting impressed me more than their bowling.

You're being serious - I was only joking, Shezhad is not capable of international cricket in my view.
