The dropped catch from Buttler really gonna hurt England, they're not gonna have a lot of chances but when they come they can't make any mistakes...

Some posters did not understand why Anderson was dropped for the first teat in Brisbane.

Why would you select a bowler to play in Brisbane when these are his results.

If Aussies get to 450 here , it will be very difficult for England to force a win here

Its difficult for any team to beat australia in their home. They are too strong at home. Only india can give them tough fight.

The Aussie commentators are Grade 'A' hypocrites. They are praising Labu for playing slow and playing Pure Test Cricket. They were criticising Pujara left and right for playing boring cricket.

Well. Nothing is going England's way. Has been like this for a decade now.
Still, No Sympathy for the old Empire. Go for crushing Victory.

It seems teams will have to play the pink ball test like this only. Scoring at rate of 2.5 all through the five days and hope for a result to come because in the early and late session, it is about that one ball with a name on it and you get out.

Robinson bowled a noball, Robinson dropped him. Robinson nailed him lbw. Redeemed himself with no damage.

To me it is more to do with
1) Pink Ball Nipping around a lot.
2) Batters not having lot of match practice with the Pink Ball. Hardly any domestic team plays Pink ball test. And even then the ratio is like 99% with Red ball to 1% Pink ball. Batting is all about Routine, And Watching the ball is part of the routine. I am confident if Red Ball is removed completely, with time we will see Run Rate improve.

Thoughts?

Robinson has found a sweet spot on a good length. He moves the ball both ways causing doubts in the minds of Steve smith much like how he did with Marnus.

The new pink ball does nip a lot. So, can't expect runs to come at a fast rate especially if the bowling is good. You have to grind out in tough conditions and then cash on in afternoon sessions.

I don't think playing more with red ball has any adverse effect on pink ball because for batsman, their approach doesn't change much as it is against red ball when it swings but it is important to be at right place in right time. If it nips a lot, it is hard to score runs for anyone so they have to resist, be patient, leave the ball well and grind out till the ball gets softer.

Most pink ball test end at 3-4 days so better bat at run rate of 2.5-3 only and take it to 5 days.

What a ball from Stokes.
Green struggling to get going with the bat in Ashes cricket.

Cam Green isn't international standard currently.

He's been a passenger for Australia ever since debut.

Adelaide: Australian opener David Warner says he is baffled with England’s tactics to bowl short in the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval here, adding that whatever the tourist bowlers throw at them, the home team batters will play the deliveries on merit

England’s barrage of short-pitched deliveries didn’t really work on the opening day as Warner missed the century by just five runs in the second Ashes Test on Thursday, while Marnus Labuschagne made a patient 103 before he was LBW in the opening session on Day 2 on Friday. England pressed all five of their quicks — Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes — to rattle Australia but to no avail. Also Read - Ashes 2021, 2nd Test: David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne Lead Australia Innings on Day 1

Midway through the first session on Day 2 on Friday, Australia were batting on 272/3 from 107.1 overs with stand-in skipper Steve Smith on 41 and first Test ‘Player of the Match’ Travis Head on 11.

“That’s a tactic they have obviously tried to put through to us. I don’t know why they were doing that,” Warner was quoted as saying by sen.com.au on Thursday. “But for us you have to play each ball on its merits. Obviously here it is short square, so you have to back yourself to have a game plan and stick to that.”

Warner said that England should have changed their tactics if they were not working, but they persisted.

Can see Aus declaring 20 mins into the last session if they dont go all out smashing in the last hour of this session.

England will then have about 20 overs under lights with the new ball which could prove interesting.

Some rest bite for england with Smith gone. Aussies will go into slog mode now until last session, declare and we will see englands batters fold under lights. Aussies going well perfectly here.

As always, Day 2 in Adelaide is when England realized they are going to be swamped 5-0. 4-0 if they're lucky.

This is only ground where they are ever likely to escape with a draw, but i cant see it. yep reality does hit on a 4-0 or 5-0 series loss.

Another 3 or 4 overs and they will declare, they will want england to face 20 overs here.

Any bets for how long burns and hameed will last?

First wicket to fall within 5 overs imo

declared

eng look so dispirited

aus know its only few overs and will go all out, expect some bowling fireworks

Four years of Ashes planning to get... nowhere at all.

Richardson's eyes while bowling that first over wow!

Rory Burns has to be one of the worst openers England has ever had. Dom Sibley the other aspirant.

How has this guy ever played the amount of Tests that he has, I will not know. He is not even good enough to make it to Pakistan test team as an opener.

What an awful technique Burns has.. Bat coming at wrong angle.. Wrong line of sight to watch the ball..
How the hell he is playing any top level cricket at all. ??

And to think that, a couple of years ago, Burns and Sibley were considered superior to the likes of Jennings.

Let's face it: over a lengthy period of time England have been no better than West Indies or Sri Lanka.

And they can never hope to produce anyone like a Sangakkara or Lara or Murali.

Hameed 84 FC games, average 32.61.

Seriously - what do they expect?

Why are they so mediocre?

40 years and no ATG cricketer??

Haseeb hameed failed yet again.
He is in the same category of Rory burns and Dom Sibley and other openers England have tried recently.

Even in the business world you have CEOs who are good at founding companies and putting the foundation in place, but you need others who will actually make the company grow and reach #1.

England have invented sports like cricket and football, but other countries have proven to be more elite in these sports than England can ever hope to be.

Never seen a match stopped for lightning before. Weird one.

How many lightning strikes do they think they are going to get? The umpires & groundies are ALL out there so why can't the players play out there too?

I'd imagine at the very least it would be distracting for batters and fielders
