5 spots being wasted by absolute garbage players. Who do not belong in the test arena.

Harry Brook playing a great innings here. A trickier pitch than the first Test and a mystery spinner, and it’s his best Test match innings so far. He has overcome early issues with reading the spin to play a lovely hand.

281 ahead, 5 wickets in hand.

Bat for an hour or so and then put Pakistan in.

Can't ever think of a time when pak had this type of championship level type of team.

Honestly, most English counties would beat this pak team.

What a horrendous team

Harry Lad is a bit good isn't he? Never mind Pietersen, some of those shots remind me of Sir Viv Richards.

Suddenly England have a cracking middle order. Dunno how Bairstow is going to get back in!

Bairstow will have to try and get back in as a wicketkeeper at this rate.

Hosts' collapse gives tourists control of second Test in Multan

England took control of the match and series thanks to a dramatic Pakistan collapse on day two of the second Test in Multan.

The home side lost eight wickets for 60 runs, at one stage including three for no runs, to slide to 202 all out.

After Babar Azam was bowled by Ollie Robinson for 75, Jack Leach took three wickets for an overall 4-98, while Joe Root and Mark Wood nipped in with two each.

When Leach had Saud Shakeel superbly caught by James Anderson for 63, it marked the left-arm spinner's 100th wicket in Test cricket.

England's growth of a first-innings lead of 79 was led by opener Ben Duckett, who was on course for a second century in as many matches before being bowled by Abrar Ahmed for 79.

That was leg-spinner Abrar's third of the innings and 10th of the match, the first Pakistan debutant to achieve such a feat for 16 years.

England sloppily lost Ollie Pope to a run out before the close, but Harry Brook remains on 74, the tourists 202-5.

With a lead of 281 on a pitch offering so much to the spinners, England probably already have enough. It would take a huge effort for Pakistan to win from here.

Decisive day in match and series

England were made to work so hard for their thrilling first-Test win, yet here have been gifted a dominant position by the Pakistan implosion.

As a result, this is likely to be the decisive day in the match and the series, with England closing in on a first triumph over Pakistan outside of the UK for 22 years.

That is not to say England do not deserve their advantage. Intelligent, defensive field placements aided Leach and selecting three specialist pace bowlers on a pitch favouring the spinners was vindicated by the wickets taken by Robinson and Wood.

It was expected that England would build on their lead by blazing away in the afternoon, but instead built steadily at their slowest scoring rate of the series so far.

Abrar, who took seven wickets in the first innings, once again carried the fight, having a hand in all five wickets to fall.

As well as the three of his own, Abrar ran out Zak Crawley and was the bowler when Pope was dismissed. His spectacular effort on debut is set to count for nothing.

Duckett denied

Duckett was recalled for the first time in six years for the first Test and already seems to have made the opener's spot his own.

A hundred in Rawalpindi was followed by 63 in the first innings here. This time he helped himself with trademark sweeps and pulls.

After Crawley was run out for three by Abrar's direct hit from mid-on and Will Jacks, promoted to give Pope rest after keeping wicket, was bowled, Duckett and Root added 54 for the third wicket.

A sweeping Root was brilliantly held by Abdullah Shafique at short leg, but Duckett seemed destined for a century, especially when Babar dropped the simplest catch at mid-wicket with the opener on 69.

The left-hander was only bowled by one that Abrar got to scuttle low. It gave Abrar his 10th, ended a partnership of 68 with Brook and, more importantly, showed how difficult it will be for Pakistan to chase a target on the deteriorating surface.

As the light faded, Pope was run out in a mix-up with Brook, who himself eased past 50 for the third time this series and will return on Sunday in the company of captain Ben Stokes.

Pakistan collapse hands control to England

When Pakistan moved from their overnight 107-2 to 142-2, the game hung in the balance. Babar and Shakeel were set and England's first-innings 281 was being closed down.

But Robinson, who did not bowl on day one, needed only two deliveries to make a telling intervention. In the seventh over of the day, Robinson produced a beauty that jagged back to bowl Babar between bat and pad.

Leach was struggling to make an impact until Shakeel attempted a loft down the ground. Anderson, running back from mid-on took a fine catch, made harder by the fact there was danger of a collision with Jacks, to give Leach his 100th wicket.

And, after Leach produced a ripping delivery to bowl Mohammed Rizwan - pitching on leg and hitting middle and off - Pakistan folded in meek fashion.

Mohammad Nawaz poked Leach to mid-off, then Salman Agha patted to mid-wicket and Mohammad Ali was caught at slip, both in the same Root over.

Wood, bowling at high pace, pinned Zahid Mahmood in front and had Faheem Ashraf clip to deep square leg for his first Test wickets since March.

On a turning track Pakistan bowlers experimented a lot giving width to batsmen to score freely. There was definitely communication gap between the captain and bowlers. You can't be bowling both sides of the wicket and hope to put pressure on the batsmen.

This has to be one of the worst Pakistan Test teams ever.

Mentally weak, only a couple of decent batters, 1 decent bowler - the rest just make up the numbers.

Yes it's pathetic.

3-0 like I predicted but even I didn't think it would be this easy for England. Only one of our batsmen got a good ball. Rest gifted wickets.

Absolutely beautiful to see Pakistan get smashed like this. This is a lesson for our fans - stop overhyping nothing players.

99.99% of our players are mediocre & this includes the hyped up domestic players who are being projected as saviors.

The gulf between the two teams is humongous. England should be bitterly disappointed if they don’t inflict a whitewash.

"I think it was a really good day for us," Jack Leach told Sky Sports Cricket.

"We'll look to get a few more [runs] tomorrow and then have another go at them. Obviously a bit more happening than Rawalpindi, so just looking to be patient and work your way through.

"We batted so well there, it's great to watch. Brooky, Ducky, the sweeping... I know as a spinner how difficult it is when someone's sweeping, reverse sweeping, Setting a field is really difficult.

“Our batters played really well, and it's put us in a good position."

Another terrible batting display losing 8 wickets in one session. Abrar showed more desire then the rest of the middle and lower order. This is gonna continue until we get some proper batsmen who can stay at the crease. No real demons in the wicket here just need to apply yourself.

Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel:

"We are in a 50-50 situation but we are confident. We have chased down 350 in Galle on a turning pitch on day five so we can chase anything down around 320 or 330.

"The pitch is getting better day by day. It is spinning but it is slow spin. So if we can get a few partnerships we can do anything."

Saud Shakeel all of his dismissals have been very poor he needs to start learning that once you get a start you must go big same With Babar.

Agha isn't good enough I said this before the first test.
Saud Shakeel is a good player but he must try and play his normal game instead trying to hit over the top.
Babar still hasn't got a big knock.
Rizwan am not sure what to say.

They must keep England 350 to have a slight chance.

As an Englishman, this is easily the worst Pakistan test side I've ever seen.

The only player who would get into our team is Babar, and maybe that new spinner.

As if they are world beaters at White Ball cricket. They got white washed by an English cricket team assembled last minute under Stokes only last year.

They have a better chance in ODI and T20 though. This team is pure embarrassment in Test cricket.

Certainly an accurate assessment here. This Pakistan team is so trash.

So my question to the team management is do they think they have four Bradman in the side hence going into 2nd test with only 4 "proper" batsman plus a decent bat in their wicketkeeper? In Test's normally a side will play between 5 to 6 proper batsman plus a wicketkeeper but somehow our think tank believes that we are so good in batting that we can only go with 4 genuine (I use genuine word loosely for Pakistan) batsman????? What is the role of Nawaz in this setup? Does Pakistan not have a batsman better than him in the team??? Maybe we are not good enough to defeat England in Pakistan but we can't lose even before the start of the game......

This is the best we have...crap or not, that's how it is.
Only weak links are Zahid and Ali; obvious replacements are injured but still better bets in Hasan Ali and M Abbas.
Rest are not world beaters but nothing outside lurking in the background.
Nothing to see here people, go home.

You are absolutely spot on. The whole team combination in 2nd test is flawed. In place of Salman & Zahid they should have played 2 proper batsman like Shan and any other performer from domestic cricket. Salman & Nawaz doesn't have any role in this team. Entire Bowling attack in this whole series is clueless & toothless. There is no genuine fast bowler, the medium pacers doesn't have any role in subcontinent pitches, Faheem can be effective only in overseas test matches.
It was clear after day 3 or 4 of first test that Harris has got injured and they must have got to know about Naseem's injury on day 5. Why didn't the team proactively sought replacement from PCB at that time for rest of the series?? This is Pakistan's home series and some like for like replacements must have been kept on standby for this high profile series

Not really convinced that this English team is unbeatable. Australia just whitewashed England in the ODI series recently and they had proper planning for each and every English batsman.

The likes of Ducket and Brooke's can score as many runs as they want against a poor unprofessional devoid of planning Pakistani bowling line up captained by the spread the field reactive Babar Azam but when these guys play in Australia, I won't be surprised to see the Aussies find out these players weak spots and exploit them ruthlessly.

An ODI side missing several key players in an unnecessary tour after the man objective (T20 WC) had been achieved. I wouldn’t read much into it.

If England win this, Pakistan are probably out of WTC final race.

That means WTC final will probably have Australia and South Africa.

All depends on South Africa vs Australia and india vs australia series .india does have a chance alongside Australia if australia whitewash South Africa

If india can white wash Bangladesh, and then again beat Australia, and If Australia beat SA, then india would have a good chance of making it too.
