What's new

England defeat Pakistan by 54 runs in final ODI, win series 4-0

Asif Ali > Shoaib Malik.

But i’d still put Hafeez in my XI and put asif Ali as a back up.

Asif Ali rotating well and looking good here.

His defense never looked bad especially for a hitter. Its just his hitting where we need more consistency from him, he has been good this series but just like other batsmen he hasnt created much difference in the result

Well at the very least lot of good signs going in to the world cup. Especially with the field. With the bowl we were better today, just need to really turn that fielding around 360 degrees.

Asif Ali has a great opportunity to make his name heard today.

Win or lose, if he can bat 50 overs ,a century is there for the taking.

Every batsman has looked good in this series. Every bowler has looked bad in this series. Not sure what to make out of it. Are they all world class batsmen and rubbish bowlers?

Imad has an ODI average of 47.

Make what you want about the current averages (50+) of our new Pakistani lot : Fakhar, Babar, Imam. And how inconsequential these averages actually are in the context of the games for us. Not one of them is a match winner

Malik is awful and doesn't deserve to be in this Pakistani side.

They won't win in a million years, but if they can get close at least that would be something.

Let’s hope for the best. At least our batting has improved. Looking back at that 69-all out against New zealand, this is big time improvement.

Guys dont get so personal. Try to deal with it if u cant accept the bitter truths. Dont let ur frustration get to ur head. Sir Mamoon is an astute reader of the game and his critical analysis has been top notch. His predictions have been true in recent times. So, its not his fault that Pakistan team isnt performing. He is a well wisher of Pak team than anyone else and wants them to perform well. So, I request all to avoid personal attacks. Try to have a healthy discussion.

Pitches and conditions cant be ignored which were effecting the bowlers on both sides but Eng was better as expected with their batting on these flat surfaces.

I disagree with his assessment that this will be a humiliation for Pakistan and their fans, I think they have been unlucky with the bat today, and have fought well all things considered. The bowling was pretty dire though.

Asif looks to be better at even strike rotation than what Malik has been in recent times.

Chokli U want backbone out of the body. Is that what u want ? Coz Sarfaraz says that Malik and Hafeez are the backbone of this Pak team. I think he can be a utility player who can add vital runs down the order and bowl some tight overs.

Pak were always going to get whitewashed in this series

5-0 against aussies
4-0 against England

Woakes is the new Mcgrath to us

India is a good fielding side? What are these commies smoking hahaha. We have one of the worst fielding unit. Kohli king of dropped catches. Rohit used to be good. Now too fat to field. Dhawan another notorious catch dropper. Pandya is okay. Pretty much it.

Malik looks low in confidence. It’s his last WC, he needs to give it his all.

He doesnt look much interested in cricket, maybe its some personal issues or may be he is just tired. Playing cricket for almost 20 years at this level isnt easy.

What a selfish review I can understand batsman taking reviews when it's plumb LBW since they won't know for sure it's out or not. But why waste the review like this? He definitely knew it was out wasted review for no reason. Very selfish.

This how low we have fallen. Losing by under a 100 runs isn't fighting.

Abid tried the review wasnt worth it.

Hafeez should have reviewed never used it.

Imad reviews it and wastes it surely he would have known he has hit it.

Well you are ignoring the fact that Pakistan got hamstrung by a couple of iffy decisions which on another day would have gone their way, and also Sarfraz run out was a once in a lifetime lucky deflection. Losing thee wickets when you only have 6 batsmen is pretty hard to come back from.

Lol woods is already picked him archer we’re chilling on the sides and Woakes was there too it’s just between Plunkett Curran Woakes

I think they should go with Plunkett

Wood , Archer , Stokes , Plunkett , Rashid and Moeen

These should be bowlers

Well, may be his choice of word has got u irked. But Pak are on the verge of a 2nd consecutive whitewash and it cant be said that its praise worthy. He is just taking a dig at those fans who would have gone over the moon if Pak would have won the series. Anyways, lets hope Pak performs better in WC.

Woakes is brilliant whenever there is a hint of movement available, and that is why he was never going to be dropped. Willey and Plunkett are in the danger zone, and I think Plunkett will miss out. Willey brings variety as a lefty and he is a better batsman.

England's full strength bowling lineup is by no means bad. The big worry at the moment is Rashid, who is their main wicket-taker in the middle-overs but is bowling absolute filth. He took 20 wickets in 8 games last summer against Australia and India, and he was key to England restricting them for low totals. When he bowls well and takes wickets, England's looks a different unit with the ball.

Some of our players have been bad but the fans are worse. Always complaining.

I am not irked at all, just don't think the criticism is warranted. If he was criticising the bowling I would agree, the opening spell was criminally bad.

I don't think you can blame the batsmen here much. You cannot score 350 all the time like England does. Hasan is batting like Viv Richards lol That good the pitch is.

It would be a shame if Plunkett misses out as he has been highest wicket taker amongst pacers in the world since WC 2015 but definitely some tough competition going on.
