What's new

England defeat Pakistan by four wickets to take 4-0 lead in 5 match series

Guldozer does it this time, 2nd slip attacking field, good catching, reaping the rewards.

This looks like one of the matches from the Misbah era, slowish 50+ for the captain, some lower order slogging and wickets tumbling upfront for the opposition. Can't get away from him :misbah

Lol england trolling pakistan, umar and irfan will become our pace bowling attack now.

Bairstow will be a difficult out, but has he played LOI in a while? not sure.

EDIT: checked, he played against SL.

Pakistan may actually win this one, looks like changes have made a lot of difference.

Classic Pakistani match, when you think they are down and dusted they comeback with one of their good performances with bowling which shocks everyone.

No, not that. It's a dead rubber - you can check my post on Match preview yesterday.

The biggest nemesis in PAK cricket is pressure - players groomed in shallow system can't stand the mental stress of a heated contest.

If it was an active rubber, by now you would have seen 2 drops at least.

By looking at the stance of almost all ENG batmen, it seems like baseball coach has made a big impact on them.

attack with 2 slips... ball is doing a bit, bowlers bowling with rhythm, bairstow is playing his first ODI..

Came back after a motive and we're doing pretty well. Shouldn't be deluded by this since it's a dead rubber. England don't really care

This is as predictable as anything can be, unless you have a time machine. I have seen this from the days, Counties stopped hiring PAK players.

Valid point made.

Looking at 2011 WC we can clearly say so.

This is classic Pakistan regardless of the dead-or-aliveness of the series. Randomly coming up with surprise performances from nowhere, both good and bad. We were down 2-0 last time in Eng in 2010, got back to 2-2 and then completely lost it in the decider which is where I agree mental fragility sets in.

Meanwhile James Taylor tweeted this pic :yk look at the difference

At the airport going to PK seems like boys putting up a good fight. Also Imad Wasim played well to offset the damage done by his captain

I don't where people have seen Hasan bowl between 85-87 mph. He's been trundling between 81-83mph.

He's touched 87 in all of the matches. I think he's a good prospect, can easily increase his pace by a yard if he hits the gym.

Look from a bit behind, may be WC 1996.

Pakistan were good side then, but made some mistakes.

Playing Miandad was one of them. If they had planned better , they should have played a spin bowling all rounder who could bat.

Openers were good. Middle order was compact.

Wasim , waqar , Mustaq , Aaamir Sohail , Malik could chip in. Just required another spin option.

Lanka planned perfectly , I think the kind of middle order they had almost protected the openers even if they got out cheaply.

didn't pakistan have any chance to win this super series? ie if they win all remaining matches (2 odi and a T20)

Stokes place spin like a caveman. Lots of action and hitting but the ball dribbles over to the close fielders

I am not sure, how many PAK players know about that SS, I doubt anyone. If so, they would have dropped few by now.

Come on lads a couple more wickets here. England bat ridiculously deep.

Not sure if they should have spin on both ends. Pakistan are trying to choke with imad and attack with nawaz.

I hate these umpires, if that was out the finger would have been up before the bowler could appeal.

Which they did, from time to time.

In unrelated news, Imad Wasim just darts it in incessantly, no spin

This match makes me pine for the spin troika of Ajmal, Afridi and Hafeez. Would go at about 4 an over and 110-120 total and take 3-4 wickets every game :((

With this kind of batting line up , you simply cannot contain on this pitch. You need to bowl as if you will play 45 overs

There is an arrogance in Stokes batting.. you can feel it.. what a player!
