Shadab's avg is higher than Shan's.

You should’ve seen his posts during the World Cup. Either he’s 12 or he’s trolling
Seriously how can you play 2 leg spinners on this track
Shadab should play his natural game wherever possible. Not easy to stick around
Eng are coming off proper test cricket against WI, I think Pak batting will improve as the series progresses.
Yup. A counter attacking 30-40 will do us good.

Our tail starts from number 6...
Just got the activation email guys, so first post here![]()
I don't care whether people call it a defensive strategy - Pakistan need six specialist batsmen. With passengers like Azhar, Shafiq and Rizwan you ain't putting runs on the board in these conditions otherwise.

Bess almost got Shan yesterday, surprised he hasnt been tried against him for a over or too. Yes ball is moving around but, Shan has looked solid against pace so far.
If Shadab plays his natural game he's more likely he'll be out slogging pretty soon. It would be foolhardy to expect him to score anything over 20 regardless.
Yesterdays rain break has changed the situation of the game and allowed england to regroup.

Stokes should bowl after lunch

Shan Masood is the first Pakistan opener to face 200+ balls in a Test innings in England since Saeed Anwar at the Oval in 1996.
That Bess over shows there is both spin and bounce in the wicket.
If there were runs on the board then the leggier would be a handful in the 2nd innings.
But Pakistan will not get enough runs so will be irrelevant
How are people criticizing the selection of 2 spinners? Pakistan have not bowled yet. How about wait for the next innings before commenting?

really really impressed with Masood. this is what Ive been waiting for from a pakistani opener. I just wish we had an in form azhar available. Such bad luck he has lost form so badly. we really need another batsman in the middle order.
we currently have two batsmen in babar and Shaan. Maybe abid but he's an opener and they can be vulnerable early. Asad who i have supported for years has really let us down. Such talent but mentally weak. very sad to see him not step up today.

New ball is due in 5 overs, and Pakistan's have one of the worst tail's in recent memory.
Even the current pair isn't exactly dominating, just barely surviving. 250 seems like a pipe dream.
From this point, 220 would be a major accomplishment
Given the forecast for days 3/4, the exposure the batting has had this innings, might not be a bad idea to think of posting a score worth chasing in 4th innings during the first innings today and look to match the score of ENG’s 1st innings in our 2nd innings.
Think someone else also alluded to thinking along these lines?
Yes that's what I mentioned above. Not reaching 300 after the platform we set on Day 1 is disappointing but not a disaster if we go big in 2nd innings in flat, hot conditions that are forecasted.
Then England will have a tricky Day 5 on a surface taking turn.
However we'll need to bowl well in England's 1st innings. Hope our guys don't get carried away by the bounce.
Exactly. I said this before the start of the test match in the other pp forum. I know one or two other people who said it too in different other pp forums. That is why 250+ score is necessary.Given the forecast for days 3/4, the exposure the batting has had this innings, might not be a bad idea to think of posting a score worth chasing in 4th innings during the first innings today and look to match the score of ENG’s 1st innings in our 2nd innings.

Bess bowled just one over before the break but he found appreciable turn straight away, to back up BUMBLE's earlier comments about Pakistan's selection...
"It's a drier pitch than we saw against West Indies - it's firmer as well - so not only is it spinning but off the pitch it is bouncing too.
"This pitch isn't going to go lower. As this game progresses, I think it is going to be fascinating to see how England cope with two leg-spinners."
300 would be a such a good score here mainly because Anderson & Broad in these conditions with Woakes & Archer for backup is a hell of an attack.
Attacking Bess and the new ball are the only way we can think of 300. Shan might have to carry his bat for that. Interestingly, Bess has got turn and bounce on day 2 so the ENG 2nd innings on 4th/5th day will be very intriguing.

SK seems to have come out with a brief? Watchu guys reckon?
Poor tactics from England. Should look to score as much as possible before the second new ball
