JOhnson changes things after being hit for another boundary and goes around the wicket, he immediately has anderson caught and England are now 425 all out.

all out 425.....i just love when the tail wags in a test match....the most exciting time for me in a test match, when 2 guys are fighting it out....

sad part it I can hardly see the same when pak is playing

425, I'm happy with that

hopefully Jimmy can produce the goods under cloud cover

There was definite swing there when the aussies were bowling today, so the onus will be on onions and anderson with the new ball.

don't agree with that, the tail usually wags when Pak are playing these days, our bowlers are always ready to help the oppo bowlers improve their batting averages as witnessed most recently in the first test.

There was a fair bit of swing out there - I'd open with Jimmy & Onions

Entertaining stuff from England! Probably 75 runs short of where we'd like to be, but you cannot argue with the positive attitude in the series so far, our run-rate has been superb and watching us bat has been a string of events rolled into one instead of the dogged, dour approach we're used to seeing. The pitch has certainly livened up so England have hope of a first innings lead - until Stumps, at least.

so then a maiden from anderson to start with...but nothing out of the ordinary, no real swing there either. It almost seems that the older ball is swinging more than the newer one here.

The Queen is at lords as well lol

HO HO HO!

Awful leg side ball - Hughes nicks it

Jimmy strikes!

Aus: 4-1

The finger goes up slowly! Huges is gone! A poor ball by anderson down the legside but hughes gloves it through to the keeper and australia are one down!

Ponting in to bat now...england must get him out early or else theyll be in for it.

Ponting plays no stroke - struck on the pad.......NOT OUT!

Huge stride forward from ponting and it struck above the knee roll, hawkeye shows the ball to be missing off and going over the stumps too, good call this time from rudi.

sorry, i meant when pak is batting.... ;-)

Perhaps freddie should go around the wicket to the left handers as he did in 2005, as the commentators are currently suggesting?

Sterling work so far. Another 1 or 2 before lunch would be invaluable.

Thats gotta be given OUT - caught at slip

Ponting wont be happy :)

That's some good pace he's getting. It would be sad if he didn't get a couple of wickets in this match , I really want him to perform.......

Ponting stands in disbelief!!! He eventually troops off!

Aus:10-2

Replays show bat hit boot.

Umpire says OUT:)

Would have been out LBW also!

Australia on the ropes, they desperately need Mr Cricket to deliver.

Rain is on the way, it's quite likely that once it starts then that will be that for the day. Funny, how the boot is on the other foot now, where England would love for rain to stay away, where in Cardiff they were begging for it (even if they didn't need it in the end).

I'm confused here , was he out LBW or Caugh behind ;/

Given out caught behind.

After all THIS IS THE ASHES!!!!!!!!!! , I think even Osama(Dead or Alive) will be watching this one.

Well replays and hot spot show that there was no bat on it, so in effect Rudi gave the wrong decision...however, as there was no bat on it and it hit ponting in line with leg stump...then he was out LBW in anycase.

So it was the wrong decision...but fair enough in the end since he was out LBW in any case.

True BUT i have a feeling Ponting wont see it that way

England should keep on pitching it up around the stumps especially before lunch. The Aussies won't be wanting to play drives so close before lunch.

The Queen of England & Phillip the Greek to be introduced to both sets of players.

Bet she stops to talk to Flintoff

I like this club life segment that sky sports had on during the lunch interval, showing ordinary people with jobs and students playing for their local clubs, and how they fit in work and cricket. Makes me want to go out and play right now!

Erk this is not going real well.

Good to see the Hilf rewarded for his work though. Before this series he had an average of 50 or something which is not a true reflection of his class.

heard some people in the crowd shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD when nasser was showing the pitch camera shot....did anyone else hear that....

I think they are still not over the 20/20 final

Ponting thiefed out. Bugger. If we lose two sessions to rain it will be tough to get a result, given neither bowling attack is that flash.

What's wrong with Siddle? Is he sick or something.

S. Harmison having on the county scene !
*Steve Harmison (rfm) 11.0 3 20 5 1.81 (0nb, 0w)

5 for 20 so far, he is in GREAT from . . .

Looks like we're on the back foot in a big way. We need Krapich to do his usual glued to the crease thing and we need a big one from Huss.

With all the moisture in the air the ball will be swinging around like a biatch

Just as Broad was beginning to emulate Johnson with the ball, the rain comes down and ruins his rhythm!

For those who are wondering, the forecast for the rest of the day is pretty poor...with more showers predicted including thunder showers.

However tomorrow should be completely rain free, with the rain showers returning for sunday and monday.

Worst time for us to go off, we were starting to pound Broad!

why dont they apply a little common sense to test cricket...

so much time has already been lost today, the weather is extremely changeable with more rain forecast...yet they take a silly 20 minute tea break?

i know the mcc and icc and everyone to do with cricket loves their cream cakes, scones and nice hot milky tea and ofcourse the cucmber sandwiches...but surely in these situations they can just scrap the tea break!

Krapich you imbecile :po:

Onions to Katich, OUT, this is up in the air at fine leg - what a catch! A stunner from Broad. On the pull, he top-edged it and Broad ran 10 or 12 yards to his right before diving, taking it low. Brilliant

SM Katich c Broad b Onions 48 (93b 6x4 0x6) SR: 51.61

^^ Players always need a break

arent all the cumilitive rain breaks enough for the players???

i know todays tea break may not make any difference to the outcome of the game but all this stuff about icc and mcc meetings to try and save test cricket etc etc...if only they applied a little common sense then i'm sure spectators wont be put off it so much...

It's looking good for England. Play could go on until very late, so another 4 wickets would have things moving along very nicely. Flintoff has been stunning...
