England won the toss and elected to bat

England team
AN Cook*, IR Bell, IJL Trott, JE Root, EJG Morgan, RS Bopara, JC Buttler†, TT Bresnan, SCJ Broad, JC Tredwell, JM Anderson

Australia team
DA Warner, SR Watson, PJ Hughes, GJ Bailey*, AC Voges, MR Marsh, MS Wade†, JP Faulkner, MG Johnson, MA Starc, CJ McKay

So no Swann & Finn for England and no Clarke for Aussies

Bell looking confused as usual but cook looks in touch...

The real question is can Australia make more than 65 :13:

No ball thn run out chance and now free hit it's all drama...

Both batsmen ended up at the striker's and yet both were safe. Bell ended up running about 80 yards and England only got two runs! Maybe it will be our day?

but that was drama remind me of that Miller runout against India

I was looking for the English innings to help me fall asleep like most other times. Today I am dissappointed :(

Too much drama already

Thats what you get when you get two drama queens #homeworkgatevtextgate

Just curious who is the tallest specialist batsman in this CT? Cook & Gayle both are 6' 2" so is there anybody who is taller thn these 2? Don't mention Pollard he is not a specialist batsman. And KP who is 6' 4" not playing in this CT

This out field seems so slow i am afraid we got our next 2 matches in this ground...

Edged and again missed lot of edges....

Isn't Gayle 6 foot 3 or 4? Fulton's 2m but he doesn't play ODI's.

Oh yea Fulton is tall but not playing in this CT, Gayle is 1.88m means 6' 2" if KP was playing in this CT he is 6' 4".

Is it only me who thinks that Eng is gonna treat Aussies in this match like NZ treated them in ODI series?

Cook scored his last ODI century before 1 year in Jun 2012 while Bell last century was before 6 months in Jan 2013

Lot of edges by ENG today but still safe...

Watson over started with a 4 and here come a 50 partnership...

The outfield is quite quick I thought, I just don't think Cook or Bell are timing it very well

Watson got Cook now it's time to see the living legend Trott!

Watto strikes.
Will be useful in Ashes if his bowling is right

Nice tweet by Gayle after the Pakistan Match:

Breaking News: England successfully chased the 65 total by losing only one wicket in 14.2 overs!

Missing KP

Since Bell's return KP has been batting in the middle order(when fit obviously) so at 68-1 I don't think you can claim that we are missing KP as he would still be sat in the pavilion if he was playing...

Why isn't he playing? out injured

This can be seen as the opening salvo of the Ashes campaign,. Whoever wins here will take a psychological advantage into the first test.

In fact I would like England to win here, and then fail to qualify so that all their players get a rest and are fit for the first Ashes test.

Yes he's still injured which is why he has yet to play for Surrey this year and isn't in the Champions Trophy squad.

England slowing down abit here, we need to make sure we don't get stuck down for too long as I doubt Buttler will be able to perform his heroics again.

Excuse ready before NZ and SL knock you out :asif

He combs to the left, he combs to the right.

perhaps the selectors don't feel that way and aren't bothered about the Ashes any more else they'd have picked a squad of player who won't play a part in the Ashes.

Much better approach instead of hoping your team loses.

Couldn't care less if they do - to me, these matches are a distraction away from the real business of the summer.

Beating this Australian team won't be too hard. They're batsmen are limited in talent so I don't see them digging in.

Vaughan owned :)))

Needs to accelerate, Bell needs to attack Voges, second 50 in 83 deliveries

Morgan and Butler needs to fire

Another slow innings by Trott

despite his average hes a poor ODI player I'd say

According to Nass, 1+2+1+1= 4...

Good fifty for Bell, hopefully he can go on and make it a ton.

so bell gonna get his 4th ODI century today...
