ICC Champions Trophy, Group A : England [308/2] beat Bangladesh [305/6] by 8 wickets

300 simply won't be enough here. England favourites.

It could be, we'll see how ENG respond under the pressure of an ICC tournament for the first time since making radical changes to their team and mindset since the 2015 embarrassment

They already have proved themselves in WT20 2016, It won't be hard at all for them to chase down 300 or 310.

Yeah, a pretty bad century for today's standards.

It's because of his timid start. He was 3(17) at one point, take away them 14 balls and he'd have finished with 128(128). Again, same can be said between 90-100 he got them 10 runs in 14 balls which isn't great for a set batsman.

It gave Bangladesg a platform that's for sure, but some reckless batting has meant they've only reach about 310 rather than 340.

True. England usually are terrible in ICC tournaments.

Jake Ball 10-1-82-1. Terrible. Dunno why England have picked him.

Something tells me this is going to be a very very high scoring tournament. ICC needs to realize cricket needs more balance between bat and ball.

England will crumble in scoreboard pressure. Even in flat pitch its hard to chase over 300 runs against Mustafiz co.

Well i guess BD have to hope for the best since England have only chased a similar target or higher 3 times in their ODI history successfully.

Great death bowling by England. Bangladesh not being able to clear the boundaries which is horrible given that some boundaries are short.

306 is not going to be easy. Even more difficult considering that non of these players have ever played Mustafiz except for Morgan in the nets during IPL 2016.

England can still win this. They are fun batting side but Woakes may not come out.

BD finished very poorly, this is where Asian team has disadvantage, power game is not as polished as ENG/AUS/SA...India has better than others, but they lost 2015 WC, last WT20 because of lacking power hitting and power bowler...Even in IPL, most(if not all) teams have outsourced power bowling and hitting to foreigners from WI,SA,AUS,ENG, if India does not develop those skills (145 Clicks bowlers and batsmen who can bat at 145 SR against such bowlers), they will struggle to win tournament, despite being power house of money!!

305 is a very decent score against the team considered as the favourite to be the tournament winners.

Bangladesh surely is making some strong points here

If we played miraz I would pin us as favorites. Don't understand the decision to play Imrul Kayes on a flat deck

Yes we need power hitters and not some technical show boys.

South Africa too have done the same in recent times. They choke in the death overs.

Bangladesh does the same but we will improve this with more T20 cricket

England are not batting deep today. Plunkett is out at #8 and then the tail starts.

Bangladesh will win this. We saw what happened at the world cup where everyone was saying England will chase this, but fell short. Also, scoring more than 300 when you have a tricky bowler in Mustafizur is a tough ask. I'd say it's 60:40 in Bangladesh's favour. England batsman bar Root, Morgan and Butler are nothing special. Warm-ups btw are nothing. Mustafizur wasn't bowling when Pakistan chased down that target Bangladesh posted.

Its a road and Bangla have 4 bowlers.

England cruise this

SA and Asian problems are not the same, SA choking is unique in Cricket. We(Asians) don't have ability for most part, those two are very different problem...We don't have bowling lineup like SA, nor batting. SA has beaten just last year AUS in AUS in test, this is second or third time they have done in this century, Asian may not be able to do that in this whole century (as they have never done that before)...

Asian teams are going to improve if they start getting better Athletes, without that we will stuck in where we are, India with all the money(more money and opportunity than anybody else), still lacks in power department significantly, they have improved from past but as I said, even in IPL, they have shown power is not there game. LOIs are going in the direction of power, without that you will struggle, crowd support, money would not matter a whole lot!!

Below par score but according to CI: Bangladesh have never made a 280-plus score batting first against England.

So, baby steps. In future it will either be Mosaddek or Mahmudullah in the XI. Dont see the point of having both.

BD have so many wickets in hand but they are not going ballistic. They should have aimed for 340-350 which seems very far away at the moment.

Bangladesh is a poor finisher most of the time.Lacks musclemen in lower order,Sakib has become totally rubbish with the bat.I have a feeling that 305 may not be easy, outfield is not fast and ground is big.I may be wrong.

Agree, Power hitters are required for the last ten overs, not the technically correct batsmen who can't muscle it big. Means want more De Villiers and Mills type players for the last ten overs than the Amlas and Rahanes.

I don't know why only Asian teams are lacking in this department when even substandard sides like WI produce such muscle hitters rot fun. Look at the WI , they have Pollard, Russel and Sammy to hit it big in the end and I'm not even considering likes of Gayle here who can hit big at the top from ball 1.

Bangladesh had great chance when Mushfiqur+Iqbal were batting together but when they both got out in consecutive balls then it was all England. Going to be a one sided match to start, England should cruise

Shakib has been rubbish in ODIs since 2012 Asia cup. How many MoM awards has he won against top 8 since 2012?

Tamim scored a match losing century.

When you play half of the overs and only score 125 runs, its not good enough.

This total might be enough against some lesser teams like WI or some other minnows.

Against England's line up, you need 350 especially on this flat track and tiny boundaries. A mere flick can go for a six.

Don't worry. Bangladesh will win this match by 30 runs.
England is a rubbish team, very very overrated in Pakpassion.

India was one team that used to finish well with Dhoni but he is no more the finisher we knew.

Lanka too used to be good with muscles down the order. Infact they still are.

Bangladesh are poor finishers. We don't have any powerful guy in the side barring Sabbir.

Pakistan? I don't know about Pakistan but they are unfit which is why they don't run hard which makes difference

Tamim was clearly anchoring the innings, so Shakib and Mahmudullah were supposed to do the slogging which they failed. Somya and Imrul flopped hard as well. It's hardly a match losing knock when other batsmen are not doing their job

When Tamim reached his century, he should have accelerated more. He was not able to time the ball at all.

This is a walk in the park for England unless England choke. There is nothing for bowlers in this wicket. A total road.

It would really open up the group if BD do win today.

I, genuinely think that bangla will win this. 305 is still a fighting total regardless of how modern the game has became. A spirited attack with just attack and attack till they kneel down mentality is needed. Although I highly doubt if Bangladesh can play with such die hard attitude.

Damn it once against Jason failed really wanted to see him scoring some runs

Where is saeed5646 bhai now?I was supposed to hide after the start of CT as your declaration, instead you are missing now.LOL.

i am avoiding any kind of rough language in Ramzan

Always wise to celebrate when you win else remember what happen in warmup game

Shape the ball into Alex Hales, he sometimes leaves a gap between bat and pad and has been bowled a few times through that gap.

Great batting surface & rapid outfield . Bangladesh great hope is on now , crunch time

No one celebrating .England is favorite throughout.Bangladesh has put up a good show with the bat, just happy for that.

This type of dibbly dobbly bowling is just allowing England to build a partnership. Spin would be better

Tamim's innings, while being decent, was a tad too slow. Bangladesh should have targetted 350+. England will walk this, unless theres a dramatic collapse.

Bangladesh isn't winning anything with this sort of bowling.

This is where people were overestimating them. In Asia sure but here in England you need something special to take wickets when batsmen are not taking risks . Pace is the key but rubel can't do much on his own .
