England V India | 2nd Test Trent Bridge| [27/7/07]

23.3 Tremlett to Jaffer, FOUR!!, good length delivery on the off, slanting into the right hander with some extra pace off the deck, Jaffer gets forward and looks to jab at it, edges it down to third man for four, he takes off the bottom hand to ensure that the ball goes all along the ground

highest opening partnership of India in England since 1976 - Shastri

Bell drops a hard chance diving to the left

23.4 Tremlett to Jaffer, no run, good length delivery on the off, slanting into the right hander, Jaffer gets forward and looks to go for a half hearted poke, outside edges it wide of gully, Bell flies to his left and almost clinged on to it, goes down in the books as a catch dropped!!, harsh isn't it!!!

Kartik and Jafer are poor....
Thats a harsh thing to say ... Fact is :

1) Indian bowlers held their patience and bowled tight lines and induced a bad shot from Strauss ... English bowlers couldn't do that from Jaffer or Karthik ...

2) Cook even after getting off to a good start and setting himself in got out to a medium pace trundler like Ganguly ! One has to wait and see how karthik and jaffer make use of this start ...

3) While seeing off the good balls, Jaffer and Karthik have ensured that they face the erred ones and made sure the bowler paid a price for it !

25.3 Tremlett to Karthik, FOUR!!, Tremlett strays down the leg side, on the pads, that is a gift for Karthik, he goes on the backfoot and glances it to fine leg for four, roll of the wrists to get it fine

another 4 by Karthik
25.3 Tremlett to Karthik, FOUR, drifting onto the pads and worked away off the hips with a lovely whip through long leg

26.6 Collingwood to Karthik, FOUR!!, full and wide outside off, swings further away to allow him to free his arms, Karthik leans into the shot and drives it between extra cover and long off for four, pressure talking on the face of the England skipper!!!

big LBW shout off Panesar's first ball. denied.
Maybe hit the glove first otherwise it was hitting middle-off stump???

hawkeye says middle stump

another big appeal off Panesar's second over. denied again
it was hitting off stump this time
on another day he could have had 2 in 2 - Shastri

If decisions keep on going against England they've no chance in this game.

another big shout this time off Andersen. height maybe an issue.
Hawkeys clipping the top of stump

India should look to bat just once in this game and aim to get 400-450 and put some huge pressure on england to stay in the game in the 2nd inns.

Typical India, gettign lucky by winning the toss in wet conditions and then easy batting. I predicted this would happen!

:)))

What happened in the first test ?? Typical england ? Winning the toss and batting one whole day under bright conditions, no moisture and sunlight gleaming over their heads ... Then batting on a day when there's a downpour ... They end up getting bundled out for 40 runs at the cost of 8 wickets ...

Leave him .He was so anxious than even an English fan ,don't know why ?Already created a thread ''how India is lucky''. now come up with ,lucky ,lucky,,........chanting.

Typical lucky India there as well! Don't you remember watching the 5th day?

i don't know whether he remembers or u ,i saw plenty of 5th day dramas involving India in the ''unlucky'' side ? Sadly u won't .Then thats ur biggest problem.

England have been unlucky on couple of occasions, but overall I think India has played really well with only Anderson really troubling them.

Tremlet gets one to lift off the deck and Jaffer gloves it to the keeper, England desparetly needed that.

What a bouncer by anderson to tendulkar! straight flush into the helmet and rattles it even bending the cage on the way.

A gem from David Lloyd: "Long day out there for the umpires. Always lose the toss, umpires, they're always fielding." :))

India lead by 1 run with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Is it me, or is Tendulkar getting struck on the helmet far too often for a class batsman?

No ,in fact every tom ,dick and harry is hitting him on the helmet .Pretty much spot on .He past it .

India on top and I expect an Indian victory from this point on - anything less and the lot of them should be sent home on Air India - cargo class.

I'd like to agree with you, like I would usually do, but I can sense a big innings in this Test series, for some reason.

Sachin has this natural approach to swaying out of a bouncer - he tries NOT to duck underneath it ... Rather, sways away from it ensuring that he has his eyes on the ball ... Offlate, thanks to his declining reflex-actions - he hasn't been able to do it like he normally does ...

Nothing to be over-critical about ! What he does AFTER getting hit is most important ... Right now - he's on 57 * ... Not bad :|

It was a boring innings from Tendu ,however i am satisfied if India utilise the start they got .

All in all two good days for India.

Not being over critical at all - just pointing out a fact, he is getting hit a lot these days and is rarely employing the hook that he used to play very well. Also, I can't believe he is defending Monty.. the old Tendulkar would have danced down the track, belted him for 6, and force him to change his line and length.

Time for England to be let off the hook when being under the cosh. Didn't bowl badly at all today but it's just the luck of the dice i suppose. In the first innings at Lord's the last 7 Indian wickets fell for 110 odd iirc so no reason to be down hearted yet. Just a pity im up north and can't watch it live.

A shame about this game so far but India deserve to be where they are. A really good day tomorrow could get us back in the hunt though.

Poms in disarray so far. Some woeful batting on Day 1 may cost them dear. Full Monty is bowling last though, unless India decide to put on 800 and just bat once.

I doubt India will get very far past 400 if they even get there. The batting lineup is okay, but overrated really, and our bowling attack will perform worse and take three times as many wickets another day. We're still in the game

end of today someone was saying in last test India lost 7 wickets for 110 runs. that is what England needs but England from what I remember lost quite a few wickets for 40-50 runs toon
new ball is available at start tomorrow and it will be a very interesting first session. India looking in very good shape

excellent day guys! well done Tendulkar for 11 000 and loved the way u played after getting hit.

Hash gone again!

85.5 Tremlett to Ganguly, SIX!!, Tremlett bangs it in short on the middle and leg, steep bounce on that occasion, Ganguly picks up the length early and hooks it over backward square leg, that went all the way, superb shot!!!

so far

India 271/3 (86.2 ov) India lead by 73 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

91.2 Anderson to Ganguly, FOUR!!, fullish delivery outside the off stump, slanting away from him, Ganguly leans into the shot and drives it between extra cover and long off for four, that was just caressed away!!!

Trademark Ganguly that!!!

91.5 Anderson to Tendulkar, FOUR!!, that was asking for trouble, full and straying onto the pads, Tendulkar closes the face of the bat and whips it to backward square leg for four, that went racing away to the fence, two exquisite shots in the same over!!!

:12: Am I the one and only here :12:

I am following the game too ! :)

India lead by 101 runs

S Tendulkar 75(166)
S Ganguly 30(55)

95.6 Anderson to Ganguly, FOUR!!, so the frustration continues for England, full delivery outside the off stump, Ganguly comes on the frontfoot, opens the face of the bat and guides it to square third man past the fielder at gully, 300 up for India

96.1 Sidebottom to Tendulkar, byes, FOUR!!, Sidebottom hits the deck hard on that occasion, pitches outside the leg stump, swings down the leg side and goes to fine leg way past the keeper

97.2 Panesar to Ganguly, FOUR!!, flighted delivery on the off, Ganguly takes a long stride forward and drives it to sweeper cover, this time finds the gap, sweet timing, Ganguly is on now!!!

97.4 Panesar to Ganguly, FOUR!!, there he goes again, second boundary of the over, flat and full on the off, Ganguly comes on the frontfoot and smashes it to deep extra cover, confident shot from Ganguly and that is a treat to watch!!!

Ganguly and Tendulkar are batting beautifully, lead is now 118 runs.

Great shot by Sachin, big blow! 4 runs. I sometime miss this kinda aggression from Sachin.

Ind 330/3

Lead of 140 runs. I think we can think of declaration once we get close to 225-250 mark.

And its lunch. India well in control of this match.

India: 338/3 (107.0 Ovs)

S Tendulkar 87(191)
S Ganguly 53(98)

India lead by 140 runs

And that is Lunch on Day 3

107.3 Collingwood to Tendulkar, FOUR, ooh, a wild swing from Tendulkar - but it was intentionally uppercut over the slips and down to the vacant third man for four. Filthy delivery

India: 400/4 (127.2 Ovs)

S Ganguly 75(142)
VVS Laxman 29(72)

India 400-4 off 127 overs - lead of 202 runs
India should up the RR a bit and declare last hour of today. still 49 overs left in the day

I don't know if David Lloyd is joking but he is saying that ESPN and Harsha Bhogle might be having a separate program on the Tendulkar decision asking the noteables thre including David Lloyd opinion on the LBW :D

Ganguly gone! Poor ball, and Prior picks it up way down the leg side! Anderson takes the wicket and Ganguly looks very angry as he walks off.

Dubious decision, from the looks of it.

Ganguly out ct behind down the leg side off Andersen.
India 409-5 - lead by 211

Was there an edge??? can't hear anything and Ganguly didn't look happy

Atherton - they have to make two separate programs on ESPN tonight.
