England V India | 2nd Test Trent Bridge| [27/7/07]

54.5 Singh to Pietersen, OUT, oh, a misjudgement from Pietersen who leaves it, but that was a beautiful ball from Singh, pitching it very wide outside off. It came back a very long way and would have hit off-and-middle. Plumb; an easy decision for Taufel and a blow for England

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The match will be over 2day

What's wrong with the cricinfo commentator...getting over excited

Kumble to Vaughan, FOUR, oh, deftly played - delicious shot, late-cutting this wider delivery down to the vacant third man. Ah, beautiful

An exciting game brewing here. If Vaughan makes a big hundred we have a good chance of a draw or even a win!

How Clouds relative with swing???????

I don't know the exact scientific composition but clouds help the ball swing more for whatever reason! I don't want to make an **** of myself, so that is why I won't comment on the sciencitific side of things.

Well if there are clouds, then that means that there is some moisture in the air. And wet air is lighter than dry air. Maybe since the air is lighter the ball can move more easily through it. I donno just a guess.

actually i have read that a lot of scientists deny that but any one who has played the game at a decent level will tell you that the ball swings more in humid/cloudy conditions.
I have also heard a few scientists say that 'late swing' is an illusion and the swings the same all the way through.

If this partnership can wipe away the lead then things will get VERY interesting with all 4 results possible

This partnership needs atleast 150 more runs as the rest of the wickets can fall for 75-100 some runs

Can England survive this session without losing more than 2 wickets is the question?
44 overs left today
players back on the field

Starting to like this RP Singh guy...before the series i thought he was rubbish but he seems to be proving me wrong.

Well he did used to be rubbish. He has given us a very good contest this year, whereas last year our batsmen destroyed him, so it is obvious that he has improved.

Lovely straight drive for 4 and pull shot for 1 takes Vaughan to 99...

Brings up his 17th century with a boundary. Great captains innings, now he has to bat on and try to avoid India batting as long as he possibly can.

A hundred for Vaughan, potentially one of his most important...today is the best he's played in a loooooong time
What a good player he has been since his test return.

A really classy hundred from Vaughan, easy on the eyes. But the job's not done yet. He'll need to go on to get a really big one.

Well when Vaughan gets 100, it's usually a big 100 and we need every run at the moment. New ball due soon which could be a problem if Zaheer gets it right again.

I hope he does what he usually does when he reaches his hundred now, and goes into overdrive and destroys everyone. It would bring us back into the lead and also damage the bowlers mentally.

Fantastic innings by Vaughan. That's one of the better knocks I've seen by him and an excellent captain's knock to boot. I have much more respect for him after today. He needs to get his head down and keep going though...

darn i missed his 100 because my 'source' broke down!
Well there was a big fist pump to the dressing room. Shows how much of an effort he's put in.

New ball due after this over. The next 20 overs or so could potentially decide the outcome of this match.

Yeah its been a great innings...when in full flow he is one of my top 5 favorite batsmen to watch.

270/3, trail by 13 and the new ball is taken by India. Zaheer onto bowl for Kumble.

You get worried when you see Collingwood batting and a ball that is swinging. Though he's just hit a 4 through mid wicket.

Another 4 off the new ball. Vaughan drives and it goes through gully area for 4. Streaky but it all counts.

Ok the lead is erased and India must bat again to win this match. A big mental advantage for us now. Anything can happen when there's pressure and expectation on a team.

3 fours in first new ball over
Eng 283-3 - scores level

Slighty short from Sreesanth and pulled through mid wicket for 4 by Collingwood. Great shot, lead by 4.

Vaughan gone.

very unlucky. Ball hits hit pad/thigh pad and then bounces onto the stumps

oh no, he's bowled him. He's dragged a ball on that hit his body and trickled onto the stumps. Was going down the legside too

4 down England.

Vaughan out for 124. Fantastic innings.

There's a reason you despise a 4-lettered word in english - LUCK ! Such a brilliant knock didn't deserve such an end ... Really unfortunate ...

Great knock by Vaughan comes to an end !!!

You have to be kidding me. Bell gone lbw 2nd ball and that looked well high. I'm wrong though seeing the replay, was definitely hitting.

England from a good position to a calamity.

Bell was caught in his crease so height was not a problem. Hawkeye showed that the ball would have hit middle and off comfortably.

Superb delivery from Zaheer ... Bell's been having his problems against Zaheer (Lloyd mentioned this fact yesterday) ... Pitching way outside the off stump THe ball came in a bit and drifted away ... Hit him in line ... Looked close ! Taufel raises his finger ...

Hawk eye shows it would have hit 2 inches below the off stump !

Is it me or is this game very similarly posed like Mohali?

damn..cant believe india might win this!..cmon england..even rain may not be able to save the english!!...

ooh...Collingwood should have been given out there. he gloved it down leg side and Dhoni caught it, but umpire said not out.

Was a hard decision to make though/

Collingwood lucky. ct behind off his glove not given. probably difficult to see but the umpire was Howell who doesn't give outs easily
Eng 302-5 - lead of 19 runs

what a no ball from Sreesanth. He was 2 feet over the line. Earlier today he bowled one from behind the stumps (legal though).

I wonder why the commentators never bring up the issue of "Walking-off" when one of the English batsmen is on the wrong side of it !

Prior bowled by RP.

Lead of 21. The tail has to wag for England to atleast put up a fight. But lets face it, its all but over now.

Tough call for the umpire, hard on the Indians who on balance have come out worse as a result of the decision making in this match, inspite of that they're still on top

Haha that was insane!

Vicious inswinger by RP Singh !!! Rattles the middle stump ... India on top !

England - 304/6

Come on boys, just need to get the highly boring Cauliflower out, and we can wrap up the tail!

Rattles?? That middle stump was cleaned up comprehensively. What a beauty from RP.

He started the we business.. but I am supporting my subcontinental brethren! :D

let's see if Collingwood can play with the tail. He is the ODI captain now

The commentators can't understand why Ganguly is bowling, and niether can I. Kumble had Tremlett all at sea in the 1st innings and Dravid really should have called on him.

India should win this game easily! Come on boys! :D
