What's new

England v Pakistan | 3rd Test | Birmingham | Aug 3-7, 2016 | Day 4

Amir has the ability to keep the ball on one spot. Something Rahat lacks

hint of movement for Sohail Khan this morning...Amir is still bowling all straight and losing the patience too.

Nah - first 2 days was all Pakistan, then day 3 was dominated by England; today has started well for Pakistan but half an hour a day does not make.

Of course, Pakistan dominated the first two days. England only got a sniff into the match with Azhar's wicket at the fag end of the 2nd day.

Sohail's pace back up to 82, running in harder too. Was mid 70s yesterday.

good I like this slight movement for Sohail Khan.

Heck you could say it was all Pakistan until before tea yesterday since the smart money would have been to get England's first 2-3 wickets before they caught the lead.

I would keep pumping Sher Khan here. He is the key for Pakistan i think

Good stop the run flow to root and he will make mistake Amir should stick to his line.

Reverse swing doesn't just magically happen - there is a proper process to it by roughing up one side of the ball and keeping one side shiny.

Yep and the ball needs to be 45+overs old to generally. That's an interesting point and I've tried to pick up on it during the series, not sure if pak have been working on the ball hard enough or if we have a designated fielder for that particular job besides the bowlers.

missing that inswing from Amir would have been deadly here.

Pakistan lost 8 wickets for 143 runs from Azhar's wicket. I wouldn't say Pak dominated after that. They definitely did well to get a 100 run lead, but they could've got much more from the position they were in before Azhar lost his wicket on the last ball.

How about bringing a guy from the leg side to sweeper cover and bring in point

Would have Amla over Kohli in Tests any day of the week.

Also Smith over Root at 3 (swap batting numbers), not sure what Stokes is doing in a world XI.

You think I dont know that??? They are obviously working on the ball. We always do. Lets hope it comes into play soon

If England can take a lead close to 200 the game is over.So restrict them within 150.

Morning guys, wow 2 wickets down already on this pitch! need to really attack and get Root out of there. How did we manage to get Cook out :))

Only player that didn't contribute was Shafiq from that point on - should have had 50 more but England only got a foothold in the match with their opening stand yesterday. Being a 103 behind, it has been a good comeback from them.

Couldn't tell from your post.

It's a bit of a shame that teams like England and SA seem to be better at keeping the condition of the ball than us when we are the ones that pioneered the art form.

Not a lineup that will give sleepless nights to any decent team of the past. Not even 70s or 80's. Even 90's or 2000's.

What a poor era of cricketers in general.

Would only have one of Ashwin or Yasir - also no idea why Anderson and Morkel are there, should be Steyn and Hazelwood.

Next two days doubt we will see much swing mate, the weather is beautiful here in brum for once and the pitch which will wear is getting harder. Best thing to do is build pressure by bowling a tight line similar to how Amir worked Hales over

Its not a Childs play and a pretty flat pitch

Pakistan's ever famous panic attacks in in run change hasn't got anything to do with the pitch condition.Whether the target is 150 or 200 they are to get collapsed .If Pakistan can win it i can tell you I shall be their fan forever.

The criteria was that the team could be put in in any conditions hence the bowling combo. Morkel was picked at 12th man to cover for the bouncy pitch option. Steyn just hasn't been the same as of late. Hazlewood is decent shout surprised Warne didn't put him forward.
