What's new

England v Pakistan | 4th Test | The Oval | Aug 11-15, 2016 | Day 2

Even after 7 tours outside Asia in 6 years Azhar after the Edgbaston test Averages 29 outside Asia. This includes two tesr tours of Zim and one of WI.

When Akmal after being dropped from Test Side 5 years ago Averages 37 outside Asia and Azhar 29 after Edgbaston Test hundred and Asad 24 than it tells the progress rate of Azhar & Asad in last 6 years. Note Akmal has worse batting temperament and batting IQ compared to Azhar & Asad.

Pakistani Great Younis After 48 tests was Averaging 40 outside Asia against much decent pace attacks of those days compared to these times and Azhar at the same stage ? 29 and 1 Hundred outside Asia in 6 years including 7 test tours outside Asia.

Hope from now On he kicks on.

Azhar is playing his second Test series outside the SC in 3 years - Pakistan don't get enough chances to play away enough to improve their stats.

Azhar and Asad need to be switched on here for this session, 100 up for pakistan.

Ideal scenario we get another 100 runs in the session with no wickets down

Some adjustment in azhars technique. The front foot isn't coming across that much now , might leave a gap when nips back or swings in.

Need both to convert these starts and get hundreds. Sick of pretty 30s and 40s before the usual soft dismissal.

But what if he scores big with a good SR :afridi

hence my if the score is not converted caveat..ultimatley he has to bat pretty much all day today and then strike rate wont really matter..time and overs are more key here..its a tactical game

Does England not have some lulloo bowler that they can put on to give our batsmen some respite.

We do them such a favour by putting on Yasir Shah

lol strike rate means diddly squat i test matches if the score is not converted..t20 bachas getting carried away

Sure 70 SR is very T20 - SR is important, had Moeen batted with a SR of 30 yesterday, there's no chance he would have scored a 100.

We have two walking wickets in Younis and Iftikhar in the next 3-4 batsmen. Khuda ki kasam kya baqwas team chunni hai

whats with the english misbehaving? pakistan trying to keep the spirit going yet england arent??

whats with the english misbehaving? pakistan trying to keep the spirit going yet england arent??

Funny how we have all these MCC lectures about the Spirit of Cricket at Lord's - yet I've never heard one speaker criticise England's recent history of crass sledging on the field.

I love the Sky team but even they hardly mention it.

Are the bowlers getting reverse swing going here?

"I suggest its easier to play spin than seam"

Geez thanks Rameez ! I never could've figured that reading PitchViz for myself !

Azhar has faced 100 balls more than Misbah in this series and scored 6 fewer runs.

Ramiz into the attack to get a wicket or two . . he seems more dangerous than the bowlers!

Jimmy needs to quickly rack up his three warnings and get out of the attack

Good partnership by far these 2 need to replicate Younis and Yousaf of 2006 here and pile some 300 runs for Pakistan.

Both batsmen have adjusted their technique a little but old habits die hard. The problem is they will be playing in UAE again and all their progress made during this tour will be lost.

Shafiq will do his usual and throw his wicket away when he is in his 60s

I hope I'm wrong.

Sami, Azhar and Asad make quite a solid top three, atleast in Asian conditions
