When an average nobody like Moeen Ali can score this many runs, there is no excuse for any of our batsmen to not perform well on this wicket. The notions of 'seaming track' or 'green wicket' cannot be further from the truth. Moeen batted with so much conviction, the pitch never really troubled him. And he is incredibly average.

Come on man, give Moeen some credit. Yeh he was dropped but capitalised on that to punish the bowlers in style. When he gets going, he is a joy to watch.

Sky just did a piece on how much attention England pay to shining the ball and keeping it in the right coniditon. Pretty amazing how much they focus on it from avoiding touching the rough side of the ball to completely avoiding passing the ball to Alex Hales due to how much he sweats.
