What's new

England v Pakistan | 4th Test | The Oval | Aug 11-15, 2016 | Day 2

These 2 need to bat till end of day and score at 4po :afridi

Azhar out on 49

Mr Jumper in now

so he'll waste 50 balls and only add other 4 runs on the scoreboard

Moeen providing an important breakthrough once again. Azhar also got out to Moeen on the 5th day at Edgbaston at a crucial stage.

Funny how we have all these MCC lectures about the Spirit of Cricket at Lord's - yet I've never heard one speaker criticise England's recent history of crass sledging on the field.

I love the Sky team but even they hardly mention it.

white privilege..

Please no Saturday Night Fever routine today Younis. Need a big innings on a pitch with no real demons.

Timely Strike for Ramiz, this partnership was looking quite dangerous for the English :14: Well Done Rambo !!!

i think we're just about done now..cant see the ballet dancer doing much and then its cuptaan sahib..may get to 220 ish

This ball is in its fortieth over and the pitch is dead.

It's now or never for Dancing Younis. If he can't score in these conditions, it should be the end of the line.

Disgusting shot by Azhar, just so he could get to his 50.

No brains....seriously.

I don't get it, how could the umpire give him out if the review was for lbw.

i dont get that decision..so they appeal for lbw which is given not out yet the umpire gives it out caught? how is this different to the moeen one a while back??

Fearing the worst-awful shot (he is not a sweeper)- Shafiq needs to be there at the end of the day- hopefully with King

a catch is a catch

that will be taken into account

if the appeal was for a catch but it was in fact lbw then i dont think he couldve been given out

Both cases are same, but decision is change :) Dont know how these 3rd umpire are working

Like I said above, an appeal covers all possible dismissals.

I think you haven't watched the previous Tests, then.

We appealed in a similar way, but apparently we 'only appealed for caught' so LBW wasn't even taken into consideration!

A summary for those that don't quite get the difference.

An appeal covers all forms of dismissal but an umpire needs conclusive evidence to overturn a decision. For the one when Moeen was batting the umpire did check the LBW but conclusive evidence for an LBW is no umpires call which there was, and as the on field umpire gave it not out LBW the decision remained.

In this case there was conclusive evidence that there was a hit on the glove to overturn the umpires decision of not out for caught (and if there had been no glove the umpire would check the decision of not out for LBW).

Out, stupid shot. Can't fathom how we end up giving wickets to this lulloo bowler.

Why do Pakistani fans keep calling Moeen a lulloo? He is taking wickets, must be bowling well. Also, why do Paistani fans get upset when someone like Tahir or Moeen perform good against your team?

The caught behind wasn't not taken into account as part of the process, it wasn't taken into account because the third umpire didn't notice that it potentially hit the glove (although I'm still unsure if it did).

Yea, but we did the same thing, but as Square Drive said they never gave it out for us.

Unfortunate for Azhar to get out on 49. Is Shafiq looking good for a 100 though and has Younis been his regular dancing self?

Also seems as though Shah did well to take the shine off the new ball, can anyone confirm? Might as well just use him as an opener in the 2nd innings as well.

Younis Khan is gonna get a big score this innings, watch lads. Shafiq and Younis will both get 50s hopefully but we need them to get centuries

Younis has only faced a few deliveries of pace so far and they were far enough outside off to leave. So far unable to tell if he's dancing or not.
Shafiq is looking good, was dropped early in his innings

Shafiq looking good, and so far no stunts from Younis Khan. And yes you are right, credit goes to Shah. He played excellently.

I hope not, we need him to retire. Otherwise Asad won't be able to bat a #4.
