England v Pakistan | 4th Test | The Oval | Aug 11-15, 2016 | Day 3

The best thing that Pakistan has done in this test match has scored very fast . . in the last test match, they batted at snails pace . . thats the othe thing about younis . . when he scores, he scores at a good rate . .which means Pakistan is ahead with a lot of time in the game

Skill of cleaning up tail is something I have looked down upon in the past..

Amazing how no english bowler can bowl a single yorker to save to their own lives.

Pitch must have turned flat as pancakes if you are huffing and puffing to get Amir out.

I watched a bit and nothing was happening.

I looked into the data for Oval and this is one of those pitches where big scores can be made even in 3rd and 4th innings.

But Pakistan have the scoreboard pressure to attack England.

So even if England score big, Pakistan can chase it down.

Its turning into that type of game.

Pak bowlers vs Eng batsmen for the series decider.

They are tiered. Actually, ENG never thought of such resilience from PAK tail. Oval is the truest surface in world, where you bend your back or flight well, you'll be rewarded. This is among very few surfaces where you'll see Chandra, Qadir, Warne, Murali enjoying bowling; at the same time Lillee, Hadlee, Waquar, Holding, Imran, Malcom, Styen or Aamir/Asif enjoying bowling. And while batting, some of my most favourite batsmen has great outings at Oval. This is a surface for every one.

Pakistan is scoring well. Obviously, its because the pitch decided to become flat out of nowhere. Logical.

Moeen and Root both getting a little spin, Finn getting all kinds of bounce

I don't think the pitch is as dead as people think it is, batsmen are just applying themselves, like Moeen did on the first day

Standing ovation for Younis Khan. What a majestic innings when his team needed it.

Poor decision IMO. Very well played though by YK.

Look just tired and with these kind of rubbish bowling you can't help but become sleepy.

That's an absolutely shocking decision. I don't know how Hawk Eye is projecting, but I would have never, never given that out. Right arm pacer, bowling over the wicket has stuck batsman half on leg stick line, then it has to turn like a leggi to hit the stick.

This. Awful decision.

I know. I was being sarcastic.

Agree. I was also surprised with the hawkeye projection.

Exactly.. very shocking indeed.. I dunno how that didnt spin it was a cutter by anderson

Many shocking decision in this serie to be honest and against the two sides.

these batsmen should spend more time at the crease just to make the English agony even worse

Sohail apparently works really hard in the nets on his batting. Let's see some results.

Hope Amir can reach his 50 here, has worked hard so far.

Even if england bat 30 overs today and 90 tmmrw and they score 380 all out. We then have 180 odd to win. Shud be easy on this pitch but england are still hanging in with the hope frm edgbaston

97 runs partnership by 9th Pakistani wicket, not even in my wet dream [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33]

It's a shame, but a magnificent innings and huge for this match. Now let us hope that Amir can get his 50 and Sohail does some quick work. Would be nice to have lead of 250, but when this morning started I would have been excited to see a lead of 150. Sarfraz's knock played a big role too. If he'd carried on the lead would have been 250 without a question. But even so this is magnificent stuff.

Cutter doesn't break back like that. It was swinging in & hit the batsman on full. Even, if I take a perfect leg cutter, it stuck almost on full - how come the umpire knows that it was cutting back enough?

I am sure, sometimes, informally Umpire will say sorry to YK during this Test.

I know right!!!! This is the Pakistani tail we are talking about here.. great credit to Amir

Even younis would be happy to be out,who can enjoy playing against this kind of bowling unless you are a tailender.

What an inning from Younis Khan!!! Can Amir and Sohail score another 50 runs?

Whenever Pakistan bats well, I can't keep the smile off my face. It's always a pleasure.

The culture change for this team is already there. They've done magnificent work in this series. Nobody expected them to play as well as they have, but they did.

Within the course of this innings, he has settled pretty well.

When you have 40+ test under your belt, players like Amir, Yasir, Wahab, Sohail developed into much better batsmen. 2010 not only halted his bowling development but a Wasim Esque allrounder too.

Any tail would do that, once top order has played 100+ overs, as long as they apply themselves. It's tough to get behind a dead bat. At Birmingham, barring Yasir's run-out, other 3 was out on last ball of the over, playing shot when Sarfy was at other end. That's fundamental mistake of tail batting & eventually, it cost PAK the Test & Series.
