Based on only first innings and Pakistan haven't even batted their part yet. Besides the pitsh seems to be an easy one. If Collingwood can score, I suggest our batsmen can do well too. Looking forward to good knocks from Butt, Amin and UA.
 
This is not looking good at all, we have to take some wickets before close.

hopefully but

our batting is very weak.....to be optimistic is good but to hope we can score 300+ in an innings is out of the question unless miracles start happening
 
TBH, I would rather take Akhtar in his current fitness rather than this Kaneria. At least Akhtar can provide us with breakthroughs and short spells, Kaneria is providing the opposition breakthroughs:))):)))

Huh ? Pak would do well to have some one like Collingwood in their batting linup
 
I sense a U turn coming from Ijaz Butt, no way we will score anything close to Engs total.

One miracle happened last week. There could be another one coming soon. Please stop being so negative. This is a test match and the other team playing is the one of the top teams in test cricket. Give them some credit as well. Also, stop underestimating Pakistani batting line. They are young but are capable of doing well. Give them a chance as well. After all, they just beat Aus week.
 
The pitch is dry and the cracks will start to open. Englands bowlers must be licking there lips. Swann is gona get alot of purchase on this pitch

Man it only takes one innings for you people to come out and start your pathetic crappy comments. It is just the first day for crying out loud and this is test cricket. Things could change rapidly.

seriously underrated batsmen imo . May not look very attractive , but who cares about that if he can come out and bail england out of as often as hes done .
 
Why the hell our team management could'nt drop kaneria and get ajmal in his place. I know the wicket at trentbridge is batsman friendly but why can't fast bowlers get the old ball to reverse swing to get wickets ? Gul bowled well this over, if only he bowls like this in all overs.

England 315/4.... record partnership of 197 for 5 th wicket ! last record partnership against pakistan was in 1954 at TRENTBRIDGE !

Agreed.

Not underrated by those who know cricket though.

I've been a fan since his Durham days. Not talented, but very intelligent player, knows his limitations, plays within them and mentally very, very strong.

Argh, it's painfull to watch but I guess that's cricket. I said it from the start that the toss win was going to be vital if Pakistan were to be in control of the game.

300+ is quite alot for a team like Pakistan, considering how weak their batting is, only Umar Akmal averages near 40 that too in 9 matches only - experience another issue, oh dear.

I would love to have a collingwood type player in the pak team. Hes such a fighter. Ive always rated him highly. Plays percentage cricket shots unlike our batsmen
 
there is help for batsman on this pitch ...but not a flat road as in Ind vs Sl match ....Pak need to tight the grip here ......@ this rate they will finish more than 430+
 
Malik, Kaneria, and Gul must be dropped for the second test. Specially Malik is not an all rounder, he is wasting an all rounders place.
 
When is the first reinforcement of the series going to be called by Salman Butt and team? He has a vacancy each for a specialist batsman, an all rounder and a fast bowler.

what I found good in Morgan is that he is a very busy player ......if he continue this approach I am sure ...he'll make lots n lots of runs ......time is gone to defend only technique in Test matches .... I m lovin it...:D
