Eng have scored 26 runs after 15 overs thats some struggle
 
While Eng def tried to be bit over aggressive in the first innings but this inning is another extreme and they are playing it right into the hands of Pak.
 
If I am the opposition I would try to be bit aggressive against Pak as it used to create panic among players and in the dressing room. But in the first innings it didnt bother Pakistan and now Eng are going into the zone which Pakistan loves

Can’t get aggressive with Stoneman on the crease. He’s useless.

its sad watching a guy doomed for failure clinging onto his career yet falling short

To be honest, I can’t see Yasir Shah creating 3 chances in an over like Shaddy. Plus this is the first over bowled by Shaddy. He’s our future Test leggie!!

Indeed, it seems like he was... stuck between a “rock” and a hard place.

He could have been wearing... cement shoes.

You might even say that his approach today was slightly... heavy-footed.

Or that he might have been been feeling a bit... stoned.

He has now lost his... castle.

That ball to dismiss him was really just... a stone’s throw away.

In the end, it seems as if he rather... hit a wall.

Eng have just digged a hole for them in the last half an hour. Now they cant go aggressive and considering the current lot of modern day players, run rate even in tests is surely gonna play in their minds.

How much test cricket have you watched in the past few years?

Shadab is very good, but on merits Yasir is a much better test bowler.

Yasir got 10 wickets in a test match at Lords just 2 years ago.

I would make Vince open instead of Stonesman in the next match. Atleast he shows glimpses of talent
 
When i compare England's young batting talent with Pakistan, the difference is there to see.

We have Haris, Babar, Usman, Saad, Saud, Talat (Fakhar in Asia) while England's best is probably Malan?

Infact Pak's young batting talent is better than Australia, NZ, and SA too imo.
 
Atleast now Pak is realizing the roles of having good allrounders in ODIs as well as tests. To be a top and consistent team you need 5 bowlers in tests and batting upto no 8

Stoneman, Malan and Vince aren't exactly the young batting talent, they're 30, 30 and 27. The likes of Clarke, Pope and Lawrence are the young talent.
 
Its over for England. Hope they play like this during India's tour.

We will see. Shaddy gets the spin both ways, and bowl better on flat tracks. Making him a threat around the world.

Yasir is a classic spinner who does well on Subcontinent/Arabian pitches.

Yes but atleast if he comes out of it alive we are gonna see a player with potential unlike Stoneman whose upside potential is pretty limited

Pakistan still well on for winning by 7+ wickets here.

Stoneman is finished, poor bloke can’t buy a run on current form.

Wonder who Cook will partner at Headingley as the next opener / victim.

It will certainly be a litmus test for Indian bowlers.

People will draw comparisons to the Pak bowling attack.

But tbh this is England's weakest team I have seen for a long time.

This is Indias best chance to improve their record in Eng. If not now then not ever.

If Pakistan win this series, I suspect they will play a five bowler attack from here onwards. Yasir will come back, and Pakistan will cycle between shadab and Fahim depending on whether they are playing subcontinent conditions vs playing in England/South Africa/ANZ
 
England trail by 142 runs with 8 wickets remaining

England would need some miracle to get out of this mess.

Tremendous bowling!Abbas and Shadab have been deadly so far. The way Shadab is bowling, I doubt England will get even a 50 run lead
 
Need to dismiss Root early in this session.

Today us about getting as many wickets as we can before they reach parity so we can avoid a tricky 4th innings chase.
 
Possibility:

England will bat on for 2 days. Root getting a 200, giving a 175 lead to England. Pakistan will collapse for 100 on Day 5.

Fahim will be benched in the UAE. Yasir will be rested outside UAE.
 
As well has Faheem has performed in this test match and the last, I still firmly believe that Pakistan need a batting allrounder instead of a bowling allrounder . . and that to me looking around is Hussain Talat . . from what I have seen, he is a good batsman and could be a number 6 pushing sarfaraz to 7 and shadab at 8 . . with sarfaraz at 6 and shadab and faheem at 7 and 8, the batting line up looks flaky . .

I would rather rest Aamir and hv faheem as our 3rd seamer in sub continent. In fact, I would also rest Hasan Ali on and off in sub continent and play faheem and Abbas as 2 seamers with a batsman extra. Yasir and Shadab would be my 2 spinners with Haris as a support link.
 
Too many of our bouncers have been easy to avoid but that's on the money.

England are throwing away their wickets in this match because they know being bowled out for 180 is still much better than the destruction that Rahat would cause amongst this mediocre batting lineup.

Hasan/Faheem/Abbas are perfect for UAE/Pak matches. No need of Amir.
