England vs Pakistan | 1st Test | Lord's, London | May 24-28, 2018 | Day 3 | Match Thread

Don't put words in mouth - last time BK took probably 25 wickets, and scored may be 150+, and Ishant took 9 at Lord's - IND lost 3-1 ...... They'll bowl well, and this year they do have a wrist spinner, but that doesn't relate to series result. For example yesterday, I was writing that, I don't see SAF posting 250 in any of 6 innings against PAK attack, if cordon supports the bowlers; but I also wrote that still it might end 3-0 .........

Personally, I think that series will be much closer - 5 Test series gives both teams lots of chances to make a come back.

Yes I agree that series Eng vs Ind will be closer but its not due to it being a 5 match series.

When a team which in this case is Eng cant even score 200 in any of the innings at home when other team scores around 360 runs in the first match then it proves there is a big difference between two teams, making it 5 match series isnt gonna change that difference.

Butler trying to ensure His place for second Test... LOL!! IN Reality, he knows he’ll get OUT in same way as Stokes’

Hasan has been not upto the mark in second innings... He is carrying niggles perhaps

This lady only talks about IPL?

I know right!!

What does the IPL have to do with Test cricket? Why doesn’t Faheem owe his success to the IPL for his cameo? Why is the Englishmen at 50 SR called a product of IPL?

Good of Saifi to continue with Hasan despite the phainti in the last over

Do you think the Pak attack is tall enough to succeed in SAF.......

I don't think so - you can see, in ENG lots of edges are falling short or taken below knee height. In ENG, bowlers can bring late swing, which is resulting lots of LBW/Bowled; but in SAF/AUS one has to bring cordon in action (Among many other reasons, Dukes/Kookaburra ball is a major one).

Besides, English batsmen are predominantly front-foot players (read they are better on F-F), but SAF/AUS batsmen are groomed on hard, bouncy surface; one needs to keep them on back foot, and then bring forward as a surprise element. I actually would have taken both Wahab & SSA to SAF.

I'm in love with this concept of 3rd man in commentary

Just thought I'd mention that looking at the forecast for the next couple of days it looks unlikely we'll get much play in them.

Need to make some bowling changes Buttler looks confident now

Then, how last time Test series ended 2-2, with one winning 1st & 4th, other winning middle 2? And, the margin wasn't close at all for last 3 Tests at Old Traford, Birmingham & Oval?

It's Test cricket - you win by sessions & long-term tactics, not by couple of overs - teams have lots of time to recover.

Sky has boring commentators almost sound depressed. Where are rameez and waqar?

Rameez is away from the box thankfully while Waqar is over on BBC radio.

It's refreshing to have commentators who don't scream like chimpanzees during mating season for a change - see Channel Nine after Benaud and Greig.

Better to let action speak for itself and only chip in when necessary.

Would be a moral victory for England if they can avoid an innings lost.

COME ON!

Don't give them any!

Ed Smith (England's Chief Selector) was seen sending an emergency SOS out to Birmingham.

He has seen the error of his ways :moali

Time for a changeup I say. This is an extremely annoying partnership

Fakhar is one of the best fielder's in the world

Would be an innings win but the tail is wagging.

Pakistan can't handle this.

Tail is not wagging, Buttler averages 31 and Bess (granted first innings) averages 12 (and 25 in First class). They simply need to get them out. Perhaps it's time for a bowling change.

Lord's has almost 3 metres slop across bowling line, which gives an unique opportunity to pace bowlers - seemers normally prefers Pavilion end, while swing bowlers like to bowl against wind and slope from Nursery end.

This Buttler technique would have been negated with an express pacer that would slip one past his legs

Seems like we may bat again... I just hope it's under 50 just a little nervous because we are a batsman down
