England need to accelerate, anything less than 250 will be pathetically easy....

Pacers are getting milked easily here, i guess smith needs to attack with spinners from both sides

Come on Tahir, get that traitor out. Lol.

lolz....... Tahir himself is from PAk :danish

so does this make Tahir a traitor too????

or maybe SA didn't want to pick Trott and hence left SA just like tahir left PAk.....

His action is exactly like Qadir's.. in fact, it's probably the best copy I've seen - even more so than Mushtaq's.

Don't know exact numbers, but it looks like a decent (energetic) crowd for the game in chennai. That's a very good sight to see any day :)

220 is a very very good score on this wicket. pitch will get slower and lower and ball will be turning a lot in the second innings. add South Africa's choking ability. this will be a very intresting game, if england somehow build a decent partnership here.

Yep. With the bat in had, the man was Poetry in motion.

Anwar was one of the few Pakistani batsmen I enjoyed watching batting. The rest, even if effective, were not aesthetically pleasing to watch. Anwar was a class act, played very similar to Ganguly. Some really graceful shots and sweet timing.

True but Mushtaq's run up and follow through was very similar to :qadir

Ganguly had off side game and used his feet well against spin but Anwar had a all round game.He use to run at fast bowlers like no one else.

Both of them were class acts, Ganguly was primarily off-side in the beginning, but as he matured was terrific on both sides of the wicket. Anwar had a slightly better average in Tests, but Ganguly had a better ODI average. Both had superb timing and placement, the ball would go like a rocket to the boundary when struck.

From the looks of it Robin Peterson has out-bowled Tahir in this game up until now. May be the county experience of Tahir makes him a known entity for these english batters. He does not look as threatening as I was expecting him to be in this pitch so far.

Eng 65 for 3 after 17 overs

You are all wrong about Tahir. He looks most similar to Razak Khan (Lucky Chikna)....

Fracnis Du Plessis into the attack

let's see how his leg spinners fare in comparison against Tahir's

As someone who loves watching the pull shot being played, Anwar's pull was about as good as I've seen from any Pakistani player. Exquisite.

Pitch seems to have eased out somehow, may be batting now may not be as difficult as it was in the morning

The pitch was not doing too much in the morning, England threw away three wickets. But there's no reason to believe it will not turn throughout the match, cracks on the pitch can only increase as the game goes on, they cannot decrease.

I don't think the wicket was that difficult at the start either. Just a bit of juice which peterson extracted well. Just needed some common sense from the English top order, which was not the case.

smith is acting retarded. he may think he is clever with all these bowling changes but u need ur bowlers to settle into a rhythm.

I missed the start of this. ENgland rebuilding after a terrible start.

Left arm spin a real problem for Pietersen

At this rate I would expect England to score somewhere around 230-260.

Meanwhile, milking of the bowlers continues

Part timers are doing fantastic job for SA

English batters struggling to break free

As i type this Bopara hoicks one for 6

Nice :six by Bopara.... seems like if you are of subcontinental origin playing spin is natural.
