can england scrape something here? get 200-210

quarter finals slipping out of grasp?!

Wow this Tahir is looking quite good, he wouldnt have bee any good for Pak anyway with Kamran behind the stumps....

Someone tell this idiot commentator that google = website. Its "googly" what he's looking for.

No thanks. We have Ajmal,Rehman,Afridi and Hafeez. :)

Honestly, Tahir is better than all four of them. Afridi has done better in the WC so far, but Tahir is a better bowler. He has a very promising career ahead of him. Besides, there is no reason Pakistan couldn't have played both Afridi and Tahir.

Lol. I was just waiting for a reply like this...

:)) Seriously? Do you really think he is better than Ajmal, Afridi??
Maybe Rehman though.

Well Afridi is a permanent fixture in the side, but yes, he is better than Ajmal. It's not like he would replace Afridi, Afridi is irreplaceable. But he could have been the specialist spinner in the team. Ajmal is an offspinner, and they are not as rare/valuable as legspinners.

Tahir celebrates tailenders wickets like world cup winning wicket.

Whatta catch! Tahir-4 wickets and 11 in the WC :19::14:

Just got up. Shocking score for England. This will be difficult to defend.

Who was refering googlies as googles? :)))

Tahir is a TWT (Tail-ender Wicket Taker) I mean how many Tail-enders has he knocked over so far?

Very comprehensive performance from South Africa, They really look favorites now.

Destroying the tail is an extremely valuable skill - this is what made Pakistan so deadly in the 90s. As soon as a team was 6 down, Waqar would destroy the tail. This means any early collapse by a team would be converted into a full collapse.

And Tahir took Trott and Yardy as well, hardly tailenders.

If that's the standard we are going by, then Afridi's wickets against Kenya and Canada don't count, those batsmen are virtually tailender level in any other team.

He didn't take them mainly against minnows. Lol

England..netherlands..west indies
as opposed to kenya.. sri lanka.. canada

netherlands and west indies arent minnows?

and sri lanka are much stronger than england

Strong logic is strong bro. good on you.
give yourself a pat on the back

West Indies aren't minnows yet bro..

In the famous words of that kid in the Full Monty: 'that were crap'

I would like to see them play with pride and at least take some wickets, but I'm not even confident of that. Going to be a typical England football World Cup display - scrape through the group stage at the last minute, get everyone excited at home, then crash out in the knockout stages anyway.

Hmm, just work up to realise that England are playing cricket again.

I'm glad that Bops got a few.

Barring a brilliant bowling performance that this exhausted England side is not able to produce, I don't think we can qualify for the quarters now.

Oh well - that's five ignominous WCs in a row. Never mind, we won the Ashes!

The group stages have been arranged very much in favour of the top six sides. We'd have to be really, really bad not to qualify for the quarters. Even if we lose by ten wickets today, we should still stroll past WI and BD if we play anywhere near our potential, and there's your 7 points and your quarter final place.

True. But still decent/above avg.

But not better than Ajmal or Afridi as one poster just mentioned.
Put it this way ... We are used to watching Harris bowl in our test team. Used to Botha being our 1st choice ODI spinner. Then there is Peterson (who people hate on PP). Then our part-time spinners like Duminy and Du Plessis. Nothing to write home about.

Tahir is the best you will get to see in the Proteas. Botha will lose his place in the team and future captaincy.

Loving Imran Tahir. He just has to watch out for running on the pitch when he starts playing tests, and he'll be more than fine.

Is this guys serious, the funny thing is Whippy takes the time to defend this denier. Face the facts, England have been out played in all aspects of the game the last two matches.

I am sure you weren't crying foul and making excuses, when you played India and tied us. Give credit to the opposition for once, as far as England is concern you will be fine, they will make the knock out stage and then you will come across as a sore loser if you start jumping on the bandwagon which you will.

I just woke up, and have only 1 thing to say :

:))):))):)))

Remember when he dismantled Notts on the last day of the Championship in 2008? Beast.

Boring...Ireland and India match should have been at 3am..Not 4...Have to wait a full hour..

Yardy's innings was mind-blowingly bad. This squad selection has really doomed us to the longest tail in the tournament.

Is there no one better than Yardy that can be picked?

england cant win even with WG Grace batting.. they are that bad.. and a disgrace to cricket

Not in our dreadful squad. What a waste. The benefits of a positive and daring selection policy could be seen when we won the T20 World Cup with a team full of attacking batsmen and unknown quantities. The squad selection for this tournament has been short-sighted and conservative, and we are paying the price.

Who is the denier and what has he or she denied?

Show me where I cried foul during the India match.

What bandwagon am I going to jump on?

Luke Wright would have been much better...And why the hell is Matt Prior there...Hes awesome for you guys in tests..but in ODIS..WHY?!....Steve Davies was doing pretty good..Why was he dropped?

Yep, like I said. worst squad evarrr.

What has England prepare for more - Ashes or WC?

During the Ashes England had sprinkler. In the WC they are a stinker !

has the South African innings not started yet? Let's get this over with.
