COAS cautions against insidious threat of fake news, propaganda

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has cautioned against the insidious threat of fake news and propaganda being perpetrated by inimical elements to weaken the bond between the people of Pakistan and Armed Forces, reassuring that the unwavering support of the nation, including army veterans, will fail all such futile efforts. The COAS hosted a reception in honour of Pakistan Army veterans on the Independence Day that united a multitude of retired army officers and soldiers. The event served as a testament to the unbreakable bond between the Pakistan Army and its veterans, united in their commitment to the nation’s prosperity and security, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

While talking to Pakistan Army veterans, General Asim Munir emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in the face of challenges, urging veterans to continue playing a vital role in Pakistan’s development. The COAS paid tribute to the contributions of retired personnel, lauding their role in shaping the nation’s history, said the ISPR.

The veterans expressed faith and confidence in the leadership of the Pakistan Army, pledging their support in combating internal and external security challenges. Retired army chiefs General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani and General Raheel Sharif, officers and soldiers attended the event.

What is the fake propaganda?

Shariah, Constitution shirkers aren't Pakistanis: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday urged Ulema and Mashaikh (religious scholars) to promote tolerance and unity in society to fight extremism.

Addressing the National Ulema Convention, the COAS said the Pakistan Army was working hard to eradicate strife from the nation, in keeping with divine commandments, as such discord is considered a grave sin against Allah.

He said, "We do not consider those as Pakistanis, who do not follow Shariah and the Constitution." The religious scholars should bring back moderation in society and reject dissension, he added.

The western civilization and way of life was not the nation's ideal, it should be proud of its own civilization, he said and mentioned verses from Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal's poetry, highlighting that the Ummah stands apart from Western nations, as followers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are a special and distinguished community.

The COAS noted that the Pakhtun brothers and the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism and the armed forces along with the nation stand with them appreciating their efforts.

For more than 40 years, he said Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees, adding, "We are explaining to them not to oppose their neighbour, brotherly Islamic country and longtime friend for the sake of subversive Kharijite (referring to TTP)."

He said that the Kharijites represented a great strife or fitnah in society as Allama Iqbal said: "Education may be a fitna if it leads you away from Allah Almighty. Likewise, property, children, and estates can become temptations or strife if they divert you from justice.

He said, "We ask people to opt for peaceful protest for their demands."

Speaking about extremism, the COAS said, "Allah says that there is no compulsion in religion. Crime and smuggling mafias are supporting terrorism." The anarchy was spread through social media, he added.

The army chief said, "No one has the courage to desecrate the glory of the Holy Prophet (SAW). If someone tries to create anarchy in Pakistan, by God, we will stand against him."

He underscored that no power in the world could harm Pakistan because this country was built to last.

"Millions of Asim Munirs, millions of politicians and millions of scholars are sacrificed for Pakistan because the country is more important to us," he said. "If you want to know the importance of the state, ask Iraq, Syria and Libya," he added.

He recalled that inimical elements used to claim that they had dumped the two-nation theory into the Bay of Bengal, and questioned rhetorically, "where are they today?"

The army chief said, "Partition of Kashmir is an incomplete agenda of Indo-Pak. My heart cries out over the atrocities in Palestine and Gaza. We should draw a lesson from Palestine that we have to protect ourselves and make Pakistan strong."

In his address, the Chief of the Army Staff stated, "We stand united and resolute in our commitment to eradicate terrorism from our soil. We will not tolerate extremism, violence, or fear-mongering."

He condemned "twisted ideologies that seek to divide us, senseless killings that aim to intimidate us, and inhumane tactics employed by Fitna Al Khawarij (FAK) that attempt to break our spirit."

He emphasized, "Let us strive for a Pakistan where everyone can thrive in peace and prosperity. We are one nation, one people, and together we can achieve greatness."

He acknowledged the vital role of Ulema in promoting peace, tolerance, and inclusivity, countering extremist narratives, and educating society to reject hate and violence.

It’s exhausting talking to someone with low intelligence who doesn’t have any capacity to be logical. It’s like talking to a school kid who’s always like “ha ha you suck”. These people don’t really have a future and are eventually hired by the likes of pmln and ppp to spread bs on the internet for a tiny amount of money. I know someone in my family who’s like this.

But apparently @Major is "hot" on religious freedom and here is being accused of being a ghair Muslim because he supports people that have smashed the constitution, which the Mistry says makes a non Muslim. The fact that the Mistry himself is a munafiq and smashed the constitution with the theft of the mandate and kidnapping makes the whole thing even more bizarre. Let's see @Major explain. But he runs from these questions

State responsibility to protect public from social media’s negative implications, army chief says

Today’s statement was the latest in a long line of warnings from the army chief and the military about the dangers posed by social media.

Over the past couple of years, social media campaigns against the army have escalated, reflecting broader tensions within the country’s political and social fabric. The government, often in tandem with the military, has responded with stringent measures aimed at controlling the narrative and stifling dissent.

These measures have led to numerous arrests and legal actions against journalists and social media users accused of spreading “negative propaganda” about the military and the state, resulting in restricted internet access and bans on platforms like X.

In recent statements, the military took a harsh line against criticism on social media, with Gen Munir himself warning that it was being used as a tool to spread anarchy and false information targeting the armed forces.

The term ‘digital terrorism’ is increasingly being used by the military to describe the use of online spaces by its harshest critics — including PTI activists — whom it accuses of spreading falsehoods.

In the rest of his remarks today, the army chief said that only a strong relationship between the people, the government and the army guaranteed the country’s security and development.

“Those who were creating the narrative of Pakistan’s default, where are they today?” the army chief said.

He said the youth were the country’s “biggest and most valuable asset” and would not be allowed to “go to waste under any circumstances”.

Questioned about last month’s spate of tribal violence in Parachinar that left 49 dead, the army chief said the tribes should sit together and help end the various disputes between them.

“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stood like an iron wall against terrorism along with the Pakistan Army for 22 years. I believe that God will grant us victory against terrorism,” the COAS said.

Digital terrorism and social media
In a wide-ranging speech at a parade held to mark Independence Day, the army chief had blamed foreign powers for a wave of ‘digital terrorism’, which he said aimed to create a gulf between state institutions and the people of Pakistan.

Calling anti-terror activities under the umbrella of vision ‘Azm-i-Istehkam’ the need of the hour, Gen Munir vowed that elements trying to create such rifts would only reap disappointment.

On August 8, he had warned that social media was being used as a tool to spread “anarchy”.

Earlier month, military spokesperson General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had said that not enough was being done against “digital terrorism” under the law, allowing fake news and propaganda to spread in the country.

“It is the country’s law that has to control and curb digital terrorism [but] unfortunately, you can see that lies, propaganda — particularly on social media — fake news and doctored images continue to spread while confusion is created in the public’s mind,” he had said.

In May, the army had labelled the growing criticism directed towards it “digital terrorism” and declared a firm commitment to combat and defeat anti-military campaigns proliferating across online platforms.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Friday reiterated the resolve of the security forces to “comprehensively defeat hostile terrorist nexus and eliminate activities in the illegal spectrum”, a statement from the military’s media wing said

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Munir’s statement came during a visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Orakzai district today, where he met the troops that participated in recent counter-terrorism operations in the Tirah Valley and its surroundings.

During the visit, the army chief was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall security situation, ongoing intelligence-based counter-terrorism operations, and multi-prong measures undertaken to ensure stability in the merged districts.

“In his interaction with officers and troops, [the] COAS appreciated their high morale and readiness to give effective response against all types of threats,” the statement said.

“[The] COAS reiterated the resolve to comprehensively defeat hostile terrorist nexus and eliminate activities in the illegal spectrum.”

Per the statement, Gen Munir, while paying rich tribute to martyrs of the army and law enforcement agencies (LEAs), said, “The hard-earned peace achieved with nation’s great sacrifice would be maintained at all costs. [The] sacrifice of our martyrs strengthen our resolve to fight with utmost dedication and spirit of sacrifice.”

The army chief lauded the contributions being made by police and LEAs in KP and said that the Pakistan Army will continue to provide all-out support to KP Police and other LEAs in enabling them to perform their duties in newly merged districts.

He also emphasised the need for continued capacity building of the LEAs.

Meanwhile, the COAS also appreciated the support of the local population in assisting security forces, noting that their positive role is essential in sustaining peace in the area.

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in the past year, especially in KP and Balochistan after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.

According to an annual security report issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations in 2023 — marking a record six-year high.

KP and Balochistan were the primary centres of violence, accounting for over 90 per cent of all fatalities and 84pc of attacks, including incidents of terrorism and security forces operations.

Last month, security forces killed at least 25 militants in a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the Tirah Valley of Khyber district, while four soldiers have also embraced martyrdom.

According to the ISPR, these operations were based on “robust intelligence” and dealt significant blows to the TTP and its affiliates. It also mentioned that 11 militants were injured in the operations. Among those killed was a key militant leader, Abuzar alias Saddam.

“However, during the conduct of operations, four brave soldiers, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat,”
the ISPR had said.

'Fitna of Khawarij has become a hub for global terror organisations and proxies:' COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has stated that the "Fitna of Khawarij" has become a hub for all global terrorist organisations and proxies.

Speaking at the special session of the Margalla Dialogue 2024 in the federal capital Islamabad, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir addressed the topic, "Pakistan's Role in Peace and Stability," highlighting Pakistan's significant achievements in promoting regional harmony and international peace, Express News reported.

The special session of the Margalla Dialogue 2024 was organised by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), during which the Army Chief noted that in recent years, the world has faced several challenges, including the rapid spread of false and misleading information. He also pointed out that, amidst various global changes, the growing influence of non-state actors is another significant challenge.

He noted that tremendous changes are occurring globally in the economy, military, and technology. Violent non-state actors and state-sponsored terrorism have become significant global challenges.

While technology has played a crucial role in spreading information, it has also contributed to the spread of misleading and false information, which has become a serious issue, the army chief added.

He also stated that without comprehensive laws and regulations, misinformation and hateful statements will continue to destabilise the political and social structure.

Freedom of expression without rules and regulations is leading to the erosion of moral values in all societies Gen Munir said adding that, globally, inequality, intolerance, and divisions are increasing on religious, sectarian, and ethnic grounds

Speaking at the event, General Syed Asim Munir shared that 'our shared objectives include tackling climate change, combating terrorism, and addressing global health challenges. Pakistan is playing a vital role in promoting peace and stability both regionally and globally. Terrorism is a common challenge for all humanity worldwide, and our resolve in the fight against terrorism remains unwavering.'

Discussing the border situation, he stated that a comprehensive border management regime has been implemented to secure our western borders.

"The menace of the Khawarij has become a hub for all terrorist organisations and proxies around the world. Pakistan expects the Afghan interim government to prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists and to take strict measures in this regard," he added.

The purpose of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is to eliminate terrorism and extremism.

The Chief of Army Staff stated that Radd-ul-Fasaad is an essential part of the National Action Plan, aimed at eradicating terrorism and extremism.

'Due to India's extremist ideology, minorities are unsafe abroad, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. New Delhi's brutality in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is also a continuation of its Hindutva ideology and policies,' he further added.

Pakistan has always supported a free Palestinian state.

General Asim Munir emphasised that resolving the Kashmir issue according to United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is essential.

He also highlighted that Pakistan has consistently called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and has provided humanitarian aid to Gaza and Lebanon multiple times.

'Pakistan has always advocated for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,' the army chief added.

The army chief affirmed that Pakistan will not participate in any global conflict but will continue contributing to global peace and stability.

He also highlighted that in the interest of international peace, 235,000 Pakistanis have served in United Nations peacekeeping missions, while 181 Pakistanis have laid down their lives for global peace under these missions.

General Syed Asim Munir further noted that Pakistan is a nation of 240 million people, with nearly 63% of its population under the age of 30 and that the country is blessed with immense natural resources and has emerged as a leading agricultural producer globally. The country also holds large deposits of rare minerals and plays a significant role internationally in freelancing.

He added that due to its rich resources, unique geographical location, and seaports, Pakistan is strategically crucial for trade with Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The Army Chief affirmed that Pakistan will always contribute positively to regional and global peace.

Calling out India specifically the leave it, well done and then we will have posters saying only Indian politicians do this but your King is doing the same.

People can say whatever they want Vajpayee and Manmohan and Moraji Desai all were more than accommodating of Pakistan’s shenanigans, I don’t ever see Indian government bending backwards like they did for peace towards Pakistan.

India's extremist ideology also poses danger to minorities in UK, US, Canada: COAS Munir

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has castigated India, saying due to its extremist “Hindutva ideology” minorities are not safe abroad especially in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

“India's cruelty and brutality in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is also a continuation of Hindutva ideology and policy,” the army chief said on Friday while addressing a special ceremony of Margalla Dialogue 2024, organised by Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI).

Gen Munir was apparently referring to India's global "extrajudicial" network of state-sponsored targeted killings. Besides Pakistan, Canada and the US have also accused Indian agents of being linked to one assassination and one attempt in their countries.

Indian government is allegedly involved in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and prominent campaigner for a sovereign Sikh state — known as Khalistan in northern India.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), in its 2024 annual report, highlighted how throughout 2024, individuals have been killed, beaten, and lynched by vigilante groups, religious leaders have been arbitrarily arrested, and homes and places of worship have been demolished.

“It describes the use of misinformation and disinformation, including hate speech, by government officials to incite violent attacks against religious minorities and their places of worship,” the report stated.

In Jan 2024, former foreign secretary Syrus Qazi said Pakistan had "credible evidence" for Indian agents' link to the killings of two of its citizens on Pakistani soil, exposing the “sophisticated and sinister” Indian campaign of extra-territorial and extra-judicial killings.

While slamming India’s "extremist ideology", Gen Munir, today, said that the solution of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) according to the resolutions of the United Nations and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is inevitable.

COAS Munir calls for national unity and prioritising Pakistan’s interests

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir emphasised on Wednesday the importance of prioritising Pakistan’s interests over personal or political motives.

Speaking to the business community in Karachi, he urged unity, stating that the country could overcome any challenge if the people stand together. COAS Munir said: "Nothing should come before the well-being of the country."

The COAS highlighted the state’s role, likening it to a mother and drawing comparisons to the hardships faced by countries like Libya, Iraq, and Palestine. “We have no identity other than Pakistan,” he stated. “If anyone wants to understand the importance of a state, they should look at the situation in those countries.”

Addressing concerns about Pakistan's future, Gen Munir expressed confidence in the country's bright and stable prospects. "The clouds of despair that loomed a year ago have now cleared," he said.

He reaffirmed his previous statement that “despair is forbidden for a Muslim” and highlighted the positive economic indicators, hoping they would continue to improve in the coming year.

Armed forces capable of guarding territorial sovereignty against ‘entire spectrum of threats’: COAS Munir

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir asserted armed forces were fully capable of safeguarding the “territorial integrity and sovereignty” of the country against the “entire spectrum of threats”, the military’s media affairs wing said on Tuesday.

The statement comes amid a sharp uptick in the number of attacks targeting security forces, other law enforcement agencies, and security checkpoints, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

November was the deadliest month for security personnel this year, with 68 of them martyred, and the second-deadliest in terms of overall fatalities, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

Attacks escalated after the TTP broke a fragile ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022 and vowed to target security forces. Last month, 12 security personnel were martyred after a checkpost was targeted in the Mali Khel area of KP’s Bannu.

COAS Munir visited troops participating in a field training exercise near Narowal and Sialkot today, where he was given a comprehensive brief on the objectives and conduct of the exercise, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

While visiting, Gen Munir said: “The Pakistan armed forces, with the resolute support of the nation, are fully capable of safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our beloved motherland against the entire spectrum of threats.”

In late November, COAS Munir had reiterated the military’s firm resolve to eradicate the “illegal spectrum” undermining national security, as well as dismantle hostile terrorist networks.

Previously, the army chief has used the term “spectrum of illegal activities” to express the state’s resolve to “deny pilferage of resources and economic losses”.

Gen Munir also emphasised the critical importance of maintaining “constant preparedness” to counter any potential threats posed by adversaries, the press release added.

According to the ISPR, the army chief was received at the exercise area by Commander Gujranwala Corps and the Inspector General of Training and Evaluation.

He spent the day in the field alongside the troops, commending their “training standards, operational readiness, and high state of morale”.

The field training exercise aimed to refine professional skills and battlefield procedures essential for addressing emerging operational challenges, the ISPR noted.

During the exercise, integrated fire and manoeuvre operations were conducted by various divisions, including armour, infantry, mechanised infantry, artillery, air defence, army aviation and Anti-Tank Guided Missile units.

The exercise demonstrated the “effective employment of electronic warfare capabilities and information operations designed to disrupt enemy communications and counter disinformation strategies in a modern battlefield environment”, the statement highlighted.

COAS Munir reiterates resolve to eliminate terrorism, extremism in all forms

A day after 16 soldiers embraced martyrdom in the South Wazisitaion gun battle, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Friday reiterated Pakistan Army’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism in all its forms, a statement from the military’s media wing said.

The army chief made these remarks during his visit to Wana area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's (KP) South Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Sunday. Upon his arrival in Wana, he was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar.

During the visit, the ISPR said, the COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security landscape and ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

While interacting with the officers and the troops, he commended their unwavering resilience and steadfastness in the face of terrorism, reaffirming the nation’s pride in their sacrifices. He emphasised that the martyrs were the pride of Pakistan, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

Gen Munir highlighted that the courage, resilience, and unyielding determination of Pakistan’s Armed Forces were the "cornerstone of the nation’s sovereignty".

He described the soldiers of the armed forces and LEAs as the "true heroes of the nation, whose bravery and selfless dedication inspire the entire country."

He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to pursuing the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), now known as Fitna Al Khwarij, and should continue to be hunted down till its elimination along with the "facilitator, abettors and financier who will be made to pay the price for their nefarious activities against the state."

The army chief's visit came a day after sixteen Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom while thwarting terrorists' bid to attack a security check post in the South Waziristan district.

On the night between December 20-21, a group of terrorists attempted to attack security forces check post in the general area of Makeen in the tribal district, the ISPR said.

It said the attempt was effectively thwarted by troops and in ensuing fire exchange, "eight khwarij [terrorists] were sent to hell". "However, during intense fire exchange, sixteen brave sons of soil, having fought gallantly embraced shahadat."

Pakistan has been reeling from increased terrorist attacks for months with the third quarter (July-September) witnessing a sharp increase in fatalities of terrorist violence and counter-terrorism campaigns with a 90% surge in violence, according to a report issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).

A total of 722 people were killed, including civilians, security personnel, and outlaws, while 615 others were wounded in as many as 328 incidents recorded during the period under review.

Nearly 97% of these fatalities occurred in KP and Balochistan — marking the highest percentage in a decade, and over 92% of these incidents of terror attacks and security forces’ operations were recorded in the same provinces.

The total fatalities from three quarters of this year have now surpassed the total fatalities recorded for the entire 2023; the number of fatalities rose to at least 1,534 in the first three quarters compared to 1,523 in 2023.

Perhaps focus on your actual job so we don’t have to see soldiers killed every day.

Army chief Gen Munir played ‘key role’ in $2b UAE loan, claims former finance minister Umar

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir played a “key role” in seeking the financial loan from the United Arab Emirates when he served as the Inter-Services Intelligence director general during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf tenure, former finance minister Asad Umar has claimed.

“Times have come that we are celebrating loans. An old loan and they have only told us that we are not taking backing from you. We will take it next year and so much happiness on this,” he said while appearing on Rubaroo which was aired on Aaj News on Thursday

“I was the finance minister when we got this $2 billion loan from UAE. I must tell you that the then DG ISI and incumbent army chief General Asim Munir played a key role in it,” Umar said.

When pressed, the former finance minister said that he, along with jailed former prime minister Imran Khan and imprisoned ex-foreign minister Shah Qureshi, had visited the country together. He claimed that former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had prior sent Gen Munir to the Gulf country.

He went on to add that he and Gen Munir were together in a meeting with the close representative of the UAE Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in final negotiations. “So, I can tell you that he had a main role in it.”

Army chief says rift between army and public is ‘false narrative’

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Peshawar, where he addressed key issues concerning the province’s security and stability. The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its national interests, stating, “Our policy is only Pakistan.”

Regarding relations with Afghanistan, General Munir acknowledged Afghanistan as a brotherly Islamic neighbor, expressing Pakistan’s consistent desire for improved bilateral ties.

However, he highlighted a point of contention: the presence of the Khwarij (a term referring to extremist groups) in Afghanistan and their cross-border terrorist activities targeting Pakistan. He emphasized that this disagreement will persist until Afghanistan addresses this issue effectively.

The COAS categorically denied the existence of any large-scale military operations in KP or the presence of Khwarij operating within Pakistani territory. He clarified that any actions taken are intelligence-based and targeted. He posed a rhetorical question, asking if “Fitna fil-’Ardh” (sedition on earth) isn’t a grave sin.

General Munir stressed the importance of unity in combating terrorism, stating, “Where there is a state, there is politics. God forbid, without a state, there is nothing. We all must stand united against terrorism, without discrimination or prejudice.” He expressed optimism, saying, “When we move forward united, the situation will improve quickly.”

He addressed the narrative of a rift between the public and the army, calling it a false narrative primarily driven by a specific agenda from foreign sources. He praised the national consensus on the National Action Plan (NAP) but stressed the need for its swift and effective implementation.

”The GFP Index highlighted that while both nations continue to grow their military capabilities, India maintains a stronger position in certain areas, such as naval and air fleet strength.

The GFP Index, which assesses military strength based on over 60 individual factors, including military units, financial standing, logistics capability, and geography, placed Pakistan with a PowerIndex (PwrIndx) score of 0.2513. A perfect score is 0.0000

Army will continue to support Pakistan’s economic growth: COAS Gen Asim Munir

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic development, stating that Punjab has become the country's agricultural powerhouse.

Speaking at the launch of the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan, Gen Asim Munir praised Punjab’s leadership and farmers for their role in modernising agriculture. He commended the Punjab government's Green Corporate Project, calling its achievements in a short time “encouraging” and a sign of progress.

The initiative includes the inauguration of the Green Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre. The launch ceremony was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik.

The Green Agri Mall and Service Company will provide farmers with quality seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides at discounted rates, along with access to agricultural machinery, including drones, on affordable rental terms.

A modern agricultural farm spanning 5,000 acres will serve as a model for advanced irrigation techniques and water-efficient farming, aimed at lowering costs and increasing productivity.

The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will offer soil testing and other research services, collaborating with institutions across the country to promote agricultural innovation.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called the initiative a “revolution” in modern agriculture, emphasising its role in the progress of Punjab’s farmers and the overall prosperity of Pakistan.

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir on Thursday denied 'receiving any letter from any one,' stating that 'even if any such letter was received, he would forward it to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.'

Speaking informally to journalists during a luncheon hosted for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Prime Minister's House, General Munir said, “I have not received any letter from anyone, and even if I do, I will not read it. I will send it to the Prime Minister.”

The army chief highlighted that Pakistan is progressing well and reiterated his commitment to the country’s development and stability.

Militants must surrender before expecting mercy from state: Army Chief

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir addressed students in a special session, emphasizing the critical role of youth in national unity and defense.

Army chief expressed his delight in engaging with young minds and reaffirmed that as long as the nation, especially the youth, stands with the Pakistan Army, the country will never be defeated and Pakistan Army will not fall.

General Munir stated on national security, “We fight like comrades, and for us, Pakistan's identity is of utmost importance. We are engaged in a battle against miscreants who distort the true teachings of Islam.” He highlighted that extremist elements are violating Islamic teachings and spreading a false narrative.

Reiterating the bond between the armed forces and the people, the Army Chief said, “The connection between the Pakistani people, particularly the youth, and the army is unbreakable. Any attempts to create divisions between the military and the public have always failed and will continue to fail in the future.”

General Munir emphasized national values, saying, “We take pride in our religion, culture, and traditions. Pakistan’s constitution begins with ‘Sovereignty belongs to Allah alone,’ and we will not allow extremist elements to impose their outdated ideologies on the country.”

He also praised the resilient people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, stating that they stand as a formidable wall against terrorism.

That's well observed. As you claimed that Munir is a true patriot, where was he? What is more important than attending the janaza of the people that died at the hands of terrorists? Isn't that a basic requirement.

Don't tag me if you're going to be disrespectful. I don't respond to misogynistic people. Calling someone a witch is the lowest of the low. She is also a mother and a daughter. Don't stoop so low that it becomes hard to stand back up.

But you run because you are being humiliated. Answer this question. Why is this women still not in jail for this crime.

Reports from IKs sister say The evil Munir is torturing Bushra Bibi. She has been put into solitary confinement and she has only one meal a day. She isn't allowed to meet anyone and has no blanket. This is pure and simple evil from a criminal. May Allah punish you with the worst place in hell.
As many of you may remember Munir had claimed that he had a file BB and her corruption and when he took it to IK, IK sacked him. So beghairat where is the file. You were sacked by Bajwa because you are compromised alcoholic

Reports of some protest being organised in London during #1 visit , hopefully there will be some footage

Do you think PTI are that important? Stop with the overestimating of your delusional plight! No one is saying you shouldn’t protest. Do it but make sure the laws of the land are respected. Is that too hard to understand?

Who is saying don't protest? Well ask your ugly information Minister. This is breaking the law. This is called transnational repression.

This is the issue with these pti followers. No harm in having protests, everyone has the rights but turning it into a violent one is the problem. You need to follow the rules of the land your living in.

But should the UK army use snipers against protesters?

When has Pakistani protesting against PDM and dictators broken the laws of UK?

It seems that the descendants of the corrupt and supporters of dictatorship in Pakistan believe that Pakistanis should be shot dead for protesting against corruption and dictatorship in the UK, just as they were in Pakistan.

The UK is not Raiwind.

Hopefully, protesters will cover their faces to protect their relatives in Pakistan, as we all know the dictators and PDM will retaliate by abducting and torturing them.

The Ranas will then say, “You had the right to protest, but why did you?”

I don't know how you can expect to govern a country if you hold such views given there are four provinces which all hold different values.

Phir backwas? Phir chawwalain?

This is the UK, a place where people flee Pakistani dictators and the torture and killings by an unelected government, knowing they won’t be shot dead for protesting. Unfortunately, it’s also a safe haven for corrupt politicians escaping justice in Pakistan.

I feel they do need to be addressed as Pakistan is a nation of four provinces, and if you are representative of your political party, it is a problem.

Where is the violence? In PK protests in Punjab are banned, why?

But should the UK army use snipers against protesters?

When has Pakistani protesting against PDM and dictators broken the laws of UK?
This is the problem. They believe that they are god( nauzbillah). Apparently no one can protest, no one can say anything in private. And then when they do, they are threatened with consequences.
@emranabbas
Can you explain these 2 things. What did they do wrong?

And 1000016643.jpg

He won't as the British establishment alobg with Biden and Eu were behind the coup but the "border" will close for the thug. I have once again emailed my MP and other cabinet ministers asking why he was allowed in the country. If the PK Americans can have sanctions imposed on these murderous thugs, bank accounts will close, and their belief that they are god will end. Look at DGISPR's humiliation yesterday at Lums.

President, PM express condolences over demise of army chief Gen Munir’s mother

The mother of Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has passed away, with leaders across the country expressing their condolences, state media reported on Tuesday morning.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed their heartfelt condolence to the army chief, according to the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan.

“We share the grief of General Syed Asim Munir over his mother’s passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the president said in a statement.

He prayed for the departed soul and strength for the military chief’s family to bear the loss.

In his statement, PM Shehbaz also extended his condolences and prayed for the “eternal peace of the departed soul”.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also prayed that the deceased gets the highest rank in Jannah, according to a post on X by his party.

Fazl noted that losing a “compassionate and loving person such as one’s mother is surely a big shock”. “There is no alternative for a mother.”

The JUI-F chief said passing away in the holy month of Ramazan would “surely be a reason for elevated ranks”.
