ICC World Cup 2023: India (357/8) thrash Sri Lanka (55) to win by a mammoth 302-run margin

Edged for 4 more. Fortune favours the brave. Quick runs for Iyer.

ICC should have allowed 20 players to tour for a long tournament like this. Teams would have benefitted from it. Why are they restricting to 15.

For all the batting talent, India don't have a Maxwell/Klaasen/Buttler in the middle order. These are the guys that can get you to pile up 380-400 runs regularly. SKY is doing well here, but even his career SR is below 100.

This combined with India's long tail mean this is still a very top-heavy lineup. It's still the world's best top order, but the lineup is flawed.

INdia cannot afford to have such players with bowlers not being able to bat. On a tricky pitch entire top order will implode They are good only for flat tracks.

10 overs remaining and only Jadeja to follow.
Lets see how India utilise these 10 overs

ball is sometimes stopping and not coming on cleanly....i think all 4 wickets fell to such deliveries, maybe Gill was the outlier.
meanwhile two bombay lads in.....hope they go big at the Wankhede....Amazing drone shots of Marine Drive and Nariman point just earlier ....

SL must be very poor allowing Shreyas to hit sixes. Walking wicket against good attacks

This is the last pair that can strike big. After this nothing. Jaddu is crap in death overs.

He has 3 fifties, 1 century, one 45 in NZ. How is he a walking wicket. All his wickets were a result of his own decision making more than good bowling.

Really poor batting. If you can't score runs here where else will he score runs?

Very good thoughtful bowling by him. Hope INdia doesn't implode with longish tail here. Just bat 50 overs

A poor middle order proved to be our undoing in last ODI WC. May be same in this edition too.

geez...must have feather touched the rubber end of his glove...was a super minor spike....what a way to get out...
if SL get 2 more wickets they are into the tail as we dont bat deep

India must

India should play percentage cricket till 48th over

He's atrocious against pace bowling. Can only play spin.Been around for a while yet oppositions don't fear him a bit.

What is the highest score on this venue in this WC or is it first match here?

The Shami situation is a conundrum for India.

To me, he must play. India absolutely has a strong batting line-up but he does lengthen what does feel like a long tail if/when the middle order falters/stumbles.

The kind of sloppy fielding SL have done in this game we've let them off very lightly

It seems like we are heading towards a below par score at Wankhede.
This is the last batting pair, and we are finished after this.

what was that Trent boult like dismissal from SKY?
Teams have serious chance against India if they get 2 of top 3 early.

For someone who 'oppositions don't fear him a bit' i guess he's done pretty well....:)
