Pakistan bat first will be 150 to 250

Australia Bay 1st 350 to 400
Won't happen. Even with out toothless bowling attack Australia won't get their.

Their literally playing with has beens. Warner, Smith and labu are literal thorns because their has beens, Carey is badly out of form as well and josh inglis is a joke.

All on Marsh and Maxwell to pull stunners.

Imam drama
may be. but they saw his playing against short ball for close 15 to 20 minutes. Most shots he played were not attacking shots though, mostly defending or upper cuts. There were few pulls and hooks, and from what they could make out he kept talking loudly to himself.

Though Australia won todays game, they still did not look fluent. They are still a struggling team. Their batsmen are still out of form and bowlers are not effective in Indian conditions.
They made a blunder by not bringing Lyon.

There you go. I knew he must be on full dramebaaz mode in the nets now with his spot in 11 under scrutiny

PAK is going to take on Aussies, just when they have started smelling blood (& PAK must be bleeding lot internally after the India game).

I believe Aussies will come hard in that game & that’s not good for any team with a soft, timid & self-cantered captain.

I can recall long back, 1992 - similar format of WC and as it came to PAK-AUS game at WACA, it became almost an elimination game - loser won’t make it to SF. Just before toss Greig asked Imran if he would have liked to take on Aussies on any other grounds, considering it’s a KO game and Pakistan batting is struggling with pace & bounce of Aussie tracks. Imran said something like they are waiting for the game and counter attack the Aussies - they, did that from ball one. And that game was just after losing against India, SAF. And, he ended like - it’s the Aussies to be anxious of the wounded tiger!!!!

I hope Babar has overcome the backlash after India game, otherwise Aussies will eat him alive.

Pakistan batsmen cannot play high quality pace bowling, we are not winning this batting shoot out on this small ground.

Ritz Carlton Richmond road
oh that is a nice hotel, food is good. They used to serve from a local brewery which used to be big hit. There is a very nice old, hole in the wall kind of hotel nearby.. Lots of great pubs and sports bars close by. Night life used to be great around there.

30 overs of spin FZ should go after the pacers from 1st over - if it clicks, they win, if not …. PAK won’t chase big targets “methodically” against Aussies. Only Abdullah should be tasked to hold on to one end. Shadab’s full tosses might cost ICC for replacement balls in that ground - Mir can’t be worse. Aussies are vulnerable against finger spin - so Ifti bowls 10 overs, may be few from Saud as well, when if Smith & Labu batting together. If PAK bowls first, try to get Aussies out - PAK bowlers are not containing Marsh, Warner, Maxwell, Ingils, Stoinis ….on that ground. Only way to get Ausdies below 275 is to shock them in between overs 15-35 with proper spin and get them 5/6 down. If it costs runs, so it be, but darting will only allow Aussies to free their arms without footwork.

If PCB hired you as strategist we'd have 3 WCs now and 2 T20 WCs

WC 2023: Just saw that Only Netherlands have a slower start than Pakistan in PP. Netherlands' run rate is 3,79 and Pakistan's is 4,66. Pakistab need to do something with this asap. And hopefully they will give Usama a go here.

No, they did not see Usama bowling. But they did not stay too long, only for an hour or so. Generally senior club players are allowed around practicing players. I have been around many touring teams practicing there in Chinnaswamy and also in Chennai and Mumbai. But this time they are just being too careful about who is allowed close by. So my friends were kind of irritated and left early. But they saw Shadab bowling, not Usama. Even Rauf did not bowl a lot during their stay. He seems fully fit, but just casually bowling few balls. May be he already had his nets earlier.

Other interesting tidbits
  • Imam was practicing lot against short bowling.
  • Nawaz was really getting hit all around. there were two batsman who was hitting him, one was Ifti, not sure about the other one.
  • Shadab looked to be bowling alright. there were few big shots, but most of the time after bowling he would go down to the batsman and talk something. That net was slow because of this constant interaction. Not sure what he was telling the batsman.
  • they were also doing some fielding and catching drills. both were pretty low effort, maybe they did not want to over stress themselves. there was not a single dive to stop or catch anything.
  • Babar was spending time talking to someone who looked like Rizwan and also a support staff
  • they did not see Babar or Rizwan batting.
  • Shaheen bowled a lot of balls without a batsman in one of the nets.
  • My friends also spoke to local pitch support staff. Looks like one of the pak support staff grilled him about pitch state, temperature, ball movement, etc. they also wanted to know if the pitch that will be used on friday was recently used by any local teams (not sure why).
  • overall the practice was no way high intensity. My friends were saying it looked like how they warm up before Sunday matches. I think Pak was just warming up and might have had more intensity practice later or maybe they are keeping it for tomorrow.
  • Couple of my friends who have better connection and influence will be there tomorrow. May be more inside information.
  • My friends were strictly told not to take any photographs as they were not allowed there. That was a bummer :)
Fantastic insight, thanks for sharing.

I can understand why Rizwan is sitting out but Babar really needs a long net. Not sure why our best batsman isn't putting the hard yards in to get back into form.

Then again i'm sure that these training sessions are meticulously structured and the coaching staff and players know what they're doing.

As per some analysts there are talks of Pakistan going with 7-4 combo

Imam
Shafique
Babar
Riz
Saud
Agha
Ifti
Usama
Shaheen
Hasan
Haris

Does anyone think Pakistan will go with this combination?
Nawaz must play in place of Agha.

Any off spin bower will get thrashed at banglore pitch.

Team is mentally shattered now. We will lose at least 4 of the remaining games now. The dream is over. We need a new captain and find proper bowlers for the next edition.
Sorry, but this is typically loser mentality employed by mere several humwatans. If positive vibes cannot be passed on then, do everyone a favour, at least don't spread negativity. Now is not the time for this. You had ample time to do this prior to the World Cup.

Pakistan can make it to semi because South Africa dropped a game against Netherlands and England dropped a game against the Afghans.

But, they need to win at least 2 against SENA countries and not lose against Afghans/BD.

Pakistan paid a heavy price for being “under extra pressure” in their World Cup defeat by arch-rivals India, said batsman Saud Shakeel, who on Wednesday lamented the absence of the team’s passionate supporters from the tournament.

Saud Shakeel further told AFP on Wednesday:

“I think we were under extra pressure so we tried to get out of that and wanted to play shots,”.

“When you have your crowd then you get the support. We did not get that and it was not in our hands,”

“The mistakes we committed in the last game, we must overcome them. That match is gone. If we win against Australia then our position will get better,”

“Australia are always good in the World Cup. They are a very good side. We know our strong areas and we must play good cricket".

“We had a good start to the tournament with two wins. We want to go match by match and not commit the mistakes we did against India,”

Having analyzed the Pak v Aus warmup game and Pakistan 134/4 in 26 overs of Australia's 4 front line bowlers, Adam Zampa did not bowled. Pakistan spinners had bowled 21 overs and got 134/4.

Out of all main bowlers , Haris Rauf was the worst from both side with Econ.>10.

Warner scored at SR 150, Labuschagne SR 130.
Aus hit 13 six compare to Pakistan's 8. Out of it Aussie top order hit 5 sixes whereas Pakistan's top 3 had zero sixes.

Pakistan played 110 dot balls in their innings, while Aus had 123 dots. out of this Aus played 29 dots in first 7 overs

Agreed, MG Road is most happening place in Bengaluru. I tried connecting with hotel authorities to see if they allow fans to get an autograph but they denied due to security concerns.

Not saying Pakistan are going to beat Aus, but I wouldn’t look too much into warmup games

Australia captain Pat Cummins speaking in pre-game presser:

[Reporter:]

What do you expect of Pakistan? What do you make of their progress so far? What are the dangers in their team?

[Pat Cummins:]

It's quite a few, really. They're a side that always seems to be right up there. Pretty well structured, I think, across, you know, some really good quick bowlers who can do some damage, some spin bowlers that can bowl 20 of their overs plus. And then they've got, you know, I think Rizwan's the leading run scorer, Babar Azam's always good, a couple of other batters that have scored a lot in ODIs lately. So, they're a really strong side pretty much in all facets.

[Reporter:]

Pakistan, the bowlers are struggling to bowl in the middle overs. They are conceding a lot of runs. They are not taking as many wickets. So, do Australia plan to particularly, you know, attack them, or put them under pressure in those areas and during that period of the play?

[Pat Cummins:]

I don't think we'll have a really specific plan around that. Most games of ODI cricket's won in those middle overs, either by not conceding wickets when you're batting or trying to get a few breakthroughs with the ball.

So, yeah, it's an area of the game that we spend a lot of time on how to navigate through. But yeah, we're always, to our players, play what's in front of you. If you feel like it's a good opportunity to attack, then go for it. But if it feels like maybe a moment that you just need to bide your time and set up for the back end, that's also OK.

Fakhar Zaman is being treated for a knee injury, he is expected to be available for selection next week.

Salman Ali Agha developed fever after last day's training and he is recovering from it.

All other players in the 15 main squad are doing well.

Welcome to the Tech City, the Silicon Valley of India.
Bangalore is the best part of India, more diverse than any other city, and its people are friendly and welcoming. You won't find better weather conditions than in Bangalore, with moderate temperatures and cool breezes. Chinnaswamy Stadium has one of the best drainage systems, so you don't need to worry about rains.

Australia are under the pump. They will tear our little boys to shreds. NRR will be irretrievably destroyed.

Now for balance Pakistan are 2 from 3

We have a shaky and misfiring top order and a shaky but misfiring middle order. Pakistan have a history of not peaking too soon, but when it comes together it comes together.

Imam
Shafique
Babar
Rizwan
Iftikhar
Saud
Nawaz/shadab
Usama/Abrar
Rauf
Shaheen
Ali

Imam needs to be retained as he can play a supporting or anchor role to allow the other batsman to tee off

Babar-Saud are not for discussion

Nawaz or shadab need to be there either/or, Shadab for his fieldinng and general energy, nawaz as batting support

Specialist spinner has to start, all the sides that have done well the spinners have taken wickets if not contained, weve done neither which has piled pressure onto the pacers

Pacers stay as they are

IF we win tomorow shaheen/rauf need to be rested bringin in wasim jnr

We win tomorow we need to just beat Bangladesh and Afghanistan to go through, and they have the same psychological monkey on their against us as we have against india.

Momentum is shifting

Given the current form of teams no results are off the cards.

We have we will
Bleedgreen

We need to back these boys all the way 6 games to go!!!!

North India is better. South is alien to Pakistanis.

Some staggering numbers for Babar Azam against the Aussies. 3 hundreds and 2 fifties in just 9 matches, truly phenomenal.
That first hundred was one of the worst innings I have ever seen. Scored a hundred at less than a run a ball chasing 350, all but batted Pakistan out of the game. On the other hand the chase where both he and Imam scored 100s was wonderful

Cummins urges Australia batters to step up against Pakistan in Bengaluru
BENGALURU, India, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Australia's top order are working hard to set things right at the World Cup and a batting-friendly wicket like Bengaluru should provide the right platform to score plenty of runs when they play Pakistan, skipper Pat Cummins said on Thursday.

Australia lost their first two matches without crossing 200 runs but won their last game against Sri Lanka to move up to seventh in the standings. However, their top order has failed to get going despite some promising starts. Marnus Labuschagne is the only Australia batter to score more than 100 runs in the tournament so far and Cummins said it was important they stepped up in Bengaluru, where the team batting first has averaged 335 in the last three ODIs.

"Especially at a venue like here in Bangalore, I dare say it's going to be high-scoring, smaller field. The pitch is always really good here," Cummins told reporters ahead of Friday's game.

"Batting is super important. I think the way the guys started the last game really set the tone. Mitchell (Marsh) and Davey (Warner) up front from the first over taking the game on.

"That's what we want from our players and they're working really hard, they're doing all the right things. I'm sure plenty of runs are around the corner."

Pakistan started the tournament with two wins before losing to India and they sit fourth in the standings. Cummins said the Asian side are "well-structured", identifying Mohammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam as their biggest batting threats while Hasan Ali has been the pick of Pakistan's fast bowlers with seven wickets.

"They have some really good quick bowlers who can do some damage, some spin bowlers that can bowl 20 of their overs," Cummins said.

"Rizwan's the leading run scorer, Babar Azam's always good, a couple of other batters that have scored a lot in ODIs lately. So they're a really strong side pretty much in all facets."

Sri Lanka and South Africa had century opening stands against Australia and when asked if Cummins would take the new ball going forward, the 30-year-old said Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood would continue to open the bowling.

"We look back at the last couple of games and, yeah, we haven't got the wickets. But there's probably been three chances in each of the first 10 overs that we just haven't got -- LBW, missed by millimetres, or play and misses," Cummins said.

"We've been really happy with the guys up front."

It’s clearly battle between Pakistan batting Vs Australian bowling… whosoever winning this battle will win match… slight advantage to Australia for their bowling n fielding

It is Bengaluru’s turn to get the limelight as Pakistan take on Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium tomorrow. It is the maiden contest of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the venue and the battle of the two cricket powerhouses promises to deliver thrill and excitement to the fans in the stands and around the world.

This is the Babar Azam-led side’s fourth match in the tournament and they are placed fourth on the 10-team points table with two wins from three matches. They have had five days to rejuvenate since their arrival in the city. Over the last two days, the team has practiced under lights and in the afternoon, in their bid to acclimatise to the conditions.

“I think the first impressions from everyone was cool, it is a pretty small venue. Boundaries are short here and the conditions for the game look very good,” Grant Bradburn, the Pakistan head coach, told PCB Digital in the lead-up to the game. “We have done our homework on the venue. it is quite a high scoring venue that probably relates more to the boundary size, which is 63-64 meters. The batters really enjoyed the opportunity to get on some true surfaces and the bowlers enjoyed it too as there is a fair bit of bounce.

“It is going to be a venue where the batters are going to really enjoy getting in on and the bowlers are also going to be really asked some serious questions. I do not think there is going to be a lot of margin for error on this wicket. As a bowling attack, you know, we haven't been quite as accurate as we would like to be in recent times and this venue is going to demand some discipline and accuracy.”

Though the match against India at Ahmedabad did not produce favourable results, Bradburn believes that it provided some crucial learnings from which the team will benefit in the tournament.

He said, “There is always pressure on the team to win. When we do not, we critique our performances very, very closely and we've done that over the last couple of days, too. I think the experiences from Ahmedabad were fantastic.

“It was a great opportunity to learn and grow from the whole experience of playing in front of a very large, hostile crowd. It is unusual to play in front of a crowd, which is pretty much, you know, solely there for the opposition. However, it was nice to hear some silence as well at times when we were batting well.

“We had some really good honest conversations yesterday as a group talking about how we wanted to take the game on more and we did have an opportunity to be a little bit more assertive with the bat earlier on.

“As a result, we put ourselves under a little bit of pressure and then you know, we just didn't get enough to really put pressure on in the second innings. That, however, doesn't take away from the fact that as a group, we've also acknowledged that we didn't put enough balls in good areas.

“We have also had some wonderful insights about the venues too – the ball is scuffing up quite quickly and looks like it is dog chewed after about 20 overs. It obviously means the ball becomes a little bit softer, which makes it difficult to score in the later stages.

“That also brings in more reverse [swing] which plays into our hands. So all of those elements are a good learning for us that we are taking on-board.”

Australia have had an uncharacteristic start to their World Cup campaign, going down against India and South Africa before bouncing back with a five-wicket win over Sri Lanka. They have had an upper hand over Pakistan in the 50-over World Cup, winning six out of 10 matches. But, the most recent outing in the format between the two sides saw Pakistan come on top with a 2-1 win in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League series.

Undaunted by the past record, Pakistan, Bradburn said, are all set for the Australia challenge and are eager to make it 3-1 before they move to Chennai for their back-to-back contests against Afghanistan and South Africa.

“It is a collection of the 150 best cricketers on the planet and there's 10 worthy teams here,” he said. “So, and as we are seeing in the last week, anyone can beat anyone. We have done our homework on Australia. We know what they can contain, we know their style of play, we know what their strengths are and we know where we might be able to exploit them.

“But, most of all, we are looking into the mirror and making sure that we're true to ourselves by making sure that we are challenging each other in the right way. We are a tight unit and we back everyone in this group, but we are certainly becoming more comfortable to challenge the performances and roles in the different phases of the game. We acknowledge as a group that we haven't put together the true performance across all three disciplines yet but we know when we do that, it's a beautiful thing.”

A lot of Pakistan's players had a viral infection, no idea how many will be fit for tomorrow. Might be worth rotating Fakhar for Imam and dropping Shaheen for Wasim.

Everyone was seen in training recently. We should have a full squad to choose from.

That's positive but seen on a training ground, a day or so after training itself was suspended doesnt indicate 100%.

Regardless I think there needs to be some rotation.

yeah they won't. if you go to evening practice sessions you may get in. Since it is Pak team they are being very cautious. Otherwise most other teams will meet the fans. I have met a lot of them during previous day practice sessions. Both BLR and Chennai, the ground and security teams are very reasonable. If you play for any local clubs and have practiced there, it is even easier. I used to play for a well-known club in Mysore and later in BLR. It was almost like a pilgrimage to go to all practice sessions and matches in 90s and 2000s. Help around a bit and if you are lucky, few will face a simple throw downs or even an over or two.

Pakistan team had an optional training session at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on the eve of their World Cup match against Australia

Five players - Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha, Usama Mir and Haris Rauf - did not take part in today's session.

it also has one of the truest pitches in India. Ball will come on to the bat, excellent outfield, high altitude helps six hitters, smallish ground for lot of runs and exciting cricket. If you are willing to bend your back or put enough revs you might get some purchase from the pitch. ALl good players can expect to have a great outing there.

Regarding BLR, excellent weather, knowledgably crowd with decades of cricketing history, great city for eating out, possibly the most diverse city in India along with Mumbai, unbelievable amount of choice if you are into beers, really good pubs, lively night life, center of startups, its somewhat like SFO. Everyone has an idea for a new startup :).. enjoy your time Pak

North India is better. South is alien to Pakistanis.
its not like they are out socializing with people, lol. BLR has sizable population from every part of the country. Local Kannadigas are actually a minority there. You can go to any busy street and will find people from anywhere. Last time when i was in Metro rail there, literally not a single one in our compartment was from local state :) If at all Pakistan team go out to socialize or clubbing, they will feel at home.

Box office match coming up !! I have been more ready for this match than India vs BD match. I expect some entertainment here.

What should we expect from the wicket?
High scoring game if the behavior is similar to what we see in IPL. Massive six hitting is expected. Last 3 ODIs incidentally happened between INdia and Australia. IN the last 3 ODis , 69 sixes were hit by both teams. That is like 23 sixes per match. Rohit alone hit 27 sixes in 3 games. You get the idea right?

Yeah we are not winning this game, this will be a massacre.

Given his tremendous record of Yuzi Chahal in Bengaluru and Maxwell's weakness against leg spin Pakistan better go with 2 leggies if they can hoping one of them click.

Pak should try to bowl first and try restricting them to anything around 300 at worse. This is a ground where you can chase at night easily. Even Imam would strike at 110.

Just caught sight of Babar, Rizwan, Haris, and Abrar. They all appeared remarkably confident and happy.
Where are you staying in Bangalore? You should try the night pubs, food, and craft brewery beers (if you drink alcohol) in Indira Nagar. There are plenty of food options available.

Agha for Ifti, not sure why Agha get so much criticism, he's done pretty well overall since coming into the team.
Yes, Chacha hasn't done anything noteworthy, Iftikhar's failed badly against India (as did Saud but he deserves more chances ). Salman Agha can be tried in Chacha's spot

Defending will be harder here unless chasing side chokes themselves. This Australian side is not exactly high on confidence. But they just have to get rid of Smith and include Green play him as opener. Push Marsh to 3

Australians can be never be written off. it is only matter of time before Aussies get their act together and become dangerous. They habe already won their first match. Watch out Pakistan

Though I am an Indian , tomorrow is one match I have been looking forward too . Knowing Chinnaswamy stadium in Blore well , here are some points that will decide the game :

1 : This is a super small ground and the wicket is generally a batsman’s paradise .
2 : The Pakistan openers HAVE TO go hard in the power play tomorrow . If they bat like they have been doing so far , you can forget the game .
3: Mitch Marsh is due for a biggie and can’t think of a better ground for him to fire . Pakistan need to get him early
4 : Spinners need utmost consistency here , or they get carted out of the stadium . Nawaz is OK , but you are doomed if you play Shadab . He bowls one bad delivery per over
5 : Dew may not be a big deal here as humidity is less at Bangalore . I had win the toss , bat first and try to put 350 + on board . And then let scoreboard pressure do the trick
6 : Maxwell is a local RCB boy . Watch out for him . Could play a blinder
7: Last but not the least , it’s probably now or never for Babar Azam .

Good luck Pakistan and can’t wait for tomorrows match

Stoinis is another threat on this ground. I would drop Smith bring in Green and use him as a top order hitter

Team Pakistan practicing in Bengaluru ahead of their important match against Australia.

Everyone has recovered from the flu I guess?

Huge match for both teams and considering the conditions, it will be extremely tough for Pakistan to win. The one hope Pakistan can cling to is that their bowling hasn't clicked at all yet and due for a good game and maybe that happens tomorrow.

A loss would push Australia to the brink and forcing them to run the table rest of the way to have any hope of making it to semi's so you can bet they will come hard.

I think Usama Mir for Shadab should be one change they must make. You just can't have two spinners, neither of which are giving you wickets. Nawaz at least keeps it a bit tight but you need wickets in the middle overs. You lose some batting depth without Shadab but wickets are the key, if they don't pick up wickets in this match, they won't be winning it.

Pak should try to bowl first and try restricting them to anything around 300 at worse. This is a ground where you can chase at night easily. Even Imam would strike at 110.
You are expecting too much from Mr. 82 Haq.

Huge game for Pakistan and Babar in particular , knives are already about him being not astute as captain so win tomorrow to silence the critics, it all rest on Pakistan batsman to make it a contest
