After India’s dominant win on September 14, Pakistan now gets its shot at redemption in the Super Four on September 21. Both teams have qualified — India after UAE beat Oman, and Pakistan after defeating UAE. With Oman and UAE out, the stage is set for another high-voltage showdown.

The last time they met, India won by seven wickets, and Suryakumar Yadav led by example with an unbeaten 47. Kuldeep Yadav’s 3/18 kept the Pakistan batters tied down. In four T20I encounters over the course of the Asia Cup, India have won thrice and Pakistan once. In the Asia Cup overall, India has 11 wins and six losses with three no results in 20 games vs Pakistan. In overall T20Is, India has won 11 and lost three. Team India clearly dominates the scene vs Pakistan in the big games.

Will Pakistan flip the script this time, or will India double down?

Pakistan squad:
Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufyan Moqim.

India squad:
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Hardik Pandya, Jitesh Sharma(w), Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh

Sunil Gavaskar expressed disappointment with PCT's decision to skip Press conference:

"Pakistan feel they have nothing to share, which, frankly, isn't surprising."

Gavaskar also suggested that if attending press conferences is a mandatory rule, then a point could be deducted from a team's table as a penalty for failing to comply, which he believes could be a "viable way forward."

lol you are allowed to what you want to do with your hands so Pakistan are allowed to do whatever the heck with their PCs.

Sunny stooping low and losing respect each passing day

you can write what ever you want here. It still doesn't change the fact that Gavaskar is correct and the Press Conference is mandatory in cricket as per ICC rules while shaking hands is not.

Hence Pakistan broke the rule, India didn't.

Gavaskar is generally insufferable.

No, it's not. It's customary.

Get your facts straight before throwing around accusations.

It's mandatory in ICC tournaments, which this is not.

I don't know about the rumors but it would be really disappointing if Pakistan drop Hassan Nawaz tomorrow. A player of his talent should not be left out of the side after a few failures. It's during moments like these that players need even more faith.

Abhishek Sharma even in IPL, hardly plays more than 30 balls before getting dismissed but if he plays 25 balls at least that will be game over for Pak.

True I would rather have them drop Farhan if change is necessary

Change in strategy is required big time. Have lost confidence in Saim. I would go with the following line up:

1. Hasan Nawaz
2. Sahibzada Farhan (w/k)
3. Fakhar Zaman
4. Agha Salman
5. Hussain Talat
6. Khushdil Shah
7. M Nawaz
8. Shaheen Afridi
9. Harif Rauf
10. Abrar Ahmed
11. Salman Mirza

I would play Sufiyan over Mirza since it is Dubai. Dubai tends to assist spinners.

Also, Hussain Talat should be replaced with Fahim Ashraf maybe. He can also bowl pace.

*Correction... PC is indeed mandatory but i don't blame pcb at all for skipping them when environment is so political. It's not your normal sports oriented PC anymore

I dint blame PCB.

I said it is mandatory and hence what Gavaskar was saying the truth.

Simple

Another big humiliation coming Pakistan’s way. Pakistan unfortunately doesn’t have team to score more than 110-120 runs. Most likely they will be bowled under 100 runs.

We need the captain to step up and own the stage tomorrow. He’s not scoring much, not bowling at all, and making some poor calls.

Don’t know if captaincy got to him but 112 SR doesn’t belong in this format especially for a guy playing now as a specialist batter.

Agha was improving then PCB decided to kill his improvement and career by giving him the captaincy. Now he’s dead. Would most likely be removed after the Asia cup and be replaced by Shaheen.

Well pak can rise from the ashes for one match and get back to business in next match.

You never know in t20 but yes pandya, kuldeep, bumrah have had a stranglehold on pak last few years.

If Agha can perform I have no problem with him continuing but perform he must and now is the time.

Agha who was playing all sort of shorts before getting captaincy and limited himself only to one shot now that is slog sweep over square leg. You can’t be a good player with one shot.

Pakistan team should give chance to Naseem Shah instead of Afridi, he looks talented bowler.... since last many years, Indian batters thrashed Afridi in almost every match, but still Pakistan sticking to him.

This Pakistan team isn’t capable of rising from Ashes. Gone are the days when “on its day” Pakistan can beat anyone.

Pakistan have only won twice vs India in 5 years in UAE . Both came by chasing . And have lost all by batting first since 2018
I’m talking about current team. They will choke against against spinners while chasing a total. Rizwan and Babar when in form were capable of doing that, current Pakistani players are not.

THere are two ways you can win in T20. On your good day. Other possibility is on bad day of opposition. Even good teams can commit harakiri. Last year India was 22/4 against Afghanistan. Then Rohit and Rinku singh added 190 runs in 15 overs and saved us. Then India committed harakiri while chasing 111 against zimbabwe. trying to finish early and failed. If you look at world cup 2024 at New york India was going to post more than a competitive total. At one point India was 89/3 in 11 overs. Played series of ridiculously stupid shots and added 30 runs in the next 8 overs. India bowled out in 19 overs from that position. That is the nature of the T20. No best team in the world kept on winning every single match indefinitely. They will slip up somewhere somehow.

In the end Pakistan still lost so my original point stands. Gone are the days when Pakistan was capable of surprising anyone. Pakistan’s middle order has been nonexistent for a while. And now with Babar and Rizwan losing the form/not evolving with the game we have a very weak top order as well. And unfortunately bowling has gone downhill for past so many years.

Shaheen Afridi is still your go to guy for creating some magic. I know haris rauf has been sucking all year. But i would play him as Indians try to take more risks against pacers than spinners.

Of course, if the stars align, Pakistan can beat India. If Bangladesh could beat Australia back in 2004/05, then any team can beat any other on a given day. However, that is not the point.

The odds are overwhelmingly against Pakistan. Unlike previous teams that had an element of unpredictability, this current team does not. Furthermore, we are getting worse every Year.

I hope Pakistanis show their big heart by shaking hands after beating India today.
Oman showed India their place and now every team knows that India is there for the picking.:dw

All the best to Pakistani young players tomorrow

I really want Saim, Haaris, Both Nawazes and Abrar to perform tomorrow.

In big scheme of things even if we lose tomorrow's game , it's no big deal. As long as we reach the finals.

To all the supporters of Pak cricket: it should be noted that even the (over-exaggerated) Indian team was unable to score 200 runs against Oman (India batted first). The batting conditions are not as simple as some fans perceive them to be.
I also noticed that the color of these middle eastern pitches is almost the same as the ball. I suspect that this issue is also affecting scores. Hopefully, fans will adjust their expectations accordingly.

Ind’s bowling is stronger than Ind’s batting. What I mean to say is that Ind’s batting is relatively inexperienced, Gill is a hard sell in t20, and SKY doesn’t click against pak. So some weaknesses to be exploited over there.

SKY's only good outing in 2025 came against Pakistan. He failed in all the other matches. He is going through a rough patch.

Of course this Indian team is young and not invincible, hence beatable, but the issue is Pakistan’s battting. It’s so fragile that I don’t see them crossing 100 against Indian spinners. They are like English team of 90s playing in sub-continent.

Hassan nawaz might get dropped today... Can Saim play in the middle order? JUST SAYING.

I think Hussain talat will replace hassan.

Fakhar and Sahibzada have both shown they can stay at the crease. One of these two has to stay long enough and we can try to set 160+ if batting first. 🤞🏻

He was being wasted at 6. It’s possible he himself requested to be benched than to play so out of position.
How about Agha suck it up and realise that Nawaz should be promoted in his stead with him having to make shift cause hes the guy who suffocates the innings 24/7.

UAE would have beaten Pakistan if they had a remotely competent batting lineup and Shaheen didnt produce a one hit batting wonder. Or in this asia cup a 2 hit batting wonder. All thanks to Agha

Batting looks paper thin.

Other than Fakhar there are no real batting threat.

I recall Riz/Babar almost won the World T20 in 2022. They also took Pak to Semi Final in 2021 WT20. At their peak, they were one of the best.

However, if you believe in the new young team, you have to give them chances beyond Asia Cup, World T20.

Pakistan is not gonna back down atleast in throwing down some words😂 lol

Yeah. They shouldn't back down after Indian players disrespected them (by not shaking hands).

I think Pakistani players should remind Indian players about the downed Rafale jets. :yk

Thats true.

After getting out for a fourth duck in a row, Saim should not back down. He should do a flying jet celebration ala Akhtar on his way to the dug out.

That would really get the Indians.

Shaheen after getting hit for a couple of sixes by Abhishek should throw up no 6 hand sign reminding him of the 6 downed jets.

If SM news are accurate and Hassan Nawaz is being dropped, it will be grave injustice and poor cricketing decision.
Saim has earned a drop after so many failures. Ideally he should be dropped and Mohammad Wasim should replace him.

Pakistan is playing too many batsmen who are being sent at wrong numbers and are being totally wasted. Haris can replace Saim's number.

All being said Talat could perform tomorrow too because he is a very experienced domestic batsman. If dropped Hassan's confidence will be shattered.

PS: the sources of this playing 11 change news are the same SM people who previously claimed that Pycroft has been removed from the remaining PAk games in the Asia Cup...just saying.

Farhan
Fakhar
Saim
Hassan
Hussain

I dont know how to fit agha and haris there in top 5.
Haris cant play below 3 and agha doesnt deserve to be in team but we cant drop these two

Maybe put fakhar at 6 and open with haris.
Agha should not bat unless its necessity. He has been sucking life out of the innings recently

Wanna see a good game of cricket.. some fight from pakistan will be refreshing.
NOt a must win game for Pakistan as they can reach the final by beating the other two teams. So i expect them to do well without pressure. India is scratchy too due to long layoff.

This is not an Indian team that opens with KL Rahul and plays another two anchors in Rohit and Kohli with a long tail. The old team put up below par scores to offer a chance for Pakistan to win a couple of times. This is a high intent team that bats deep, they can eaily set 170+, 180+ targets for Pakistan and game can get over in first half itself.

It actually is. It will give them huge confidence beating their arch rival especially after the handshake fiasco.

If they get a thrashing like the first game, I am afraid they will be very dejected for the next two games.

Bhuvi at 8 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just keep an eye on Farhans & Hasan nawaz’s foot work or the lack of it for the few deliveries they last.

If that’s the standard of domestic just pack it in man bowlers won’t save you all the time.
