India (191 & 466) beat England (290 & 210) by 157 runs at the Oval to take a 2-1 lead in the series

Should've been a regulation catch for a slip fielder.
 
Thakur has probably cemented his place as test all rounder. Pandya will be better off as t20 and odi all rounder where he is good at.
 
Should have been taken by Rahane. He had both hands to the ball

Bumrah has the lowest bowling average in 4th innings amongst all bowlers for the last 3 years!
 
On reflection, I have actually seen England play much worse than this in 4th innings / 5th day situations. It’s not like they just laid down and surrendered, got bowled out for less than 100. (Which has happened many times by the way!) There has actually been some fight today. But yes second best team to India by miles.

Remember how Woakes and Butler chased against Pakistan. Can Woakes repeat it here with Overton :afridi
 
When the marks for this series will be given to Indian players, Rahane should be given negative marks.

WI had learned from the previous series in WI where Jimmy hooked and pulled the WI bowlers to smithereens.. WI stop bowling short and pitched it up, causing Jimmy all sorts of problems.

yeah, his grand score of 10 and 18 killed us in the 3rd Test.
At least Pujara and Kohli did some damage control in the 2nd innings
 
The umpires have got a lot wrong in this match, they’ve been awful.

It was all Amarnath's fault in being headstrong then. He had this thing for taking on bouncers and then talking heavy about it.
Didn't help he was the MOM in 83' cup final and that Windies were on a revenge-tour
 
At the end of this test. England will have more reviews left than India. Always believed for a while England have had lucky wins. Some earlier Ashes series, Stuart Broad cheating, Last over of World cup. Now England have been brought down to their knees by India. Both in India and England.

Considering Bairstow’s test form, Pope better start doing his keeping drills before the last test as if I am not wrong he is a keeper as well. However, considering Eng selection for this match, doubt they would even think about any such thing.

Even Root's wicket was due to Root trying to run it down. That's where the likes of AB were special. Change the game to dead bat to get a draw if needed.

He had a problem with his eyesight. When India toured WI earlier, he had the highest average for an Indian.

Someone i knew in the US came to india and had brought a video cassette of that series, in i guess early 2000's. Somehow we got it converted from the US settings to indian -a massive project in itself!....
There's one hook jimmy plays off marshall , i think in Jamica, for six.
I swear he played it so late, another millisecond and i think he'd be seeing a surgeon.
That hook was like someone swatting a fly off ones nose, it was ethreal.

timid defensive and clueless batting in this 2nd session has cost england game rather than poor umpiring.

I will say it was brilliant bowling rather than Eng batting being that bad. At least initially. But the last two wickets were due to poor batting.

Bumrah is a superstar. Every commentator and analyst is calling him the second coming of Waqar Younis. High praise.
 
Thakur is the gutsiest Indian cricketer I have seen, and he always punches above his weight.

Limited talent, but second time this year he is going to win us an overseas test, first one being Gabba where he delivered a legendary performance with both bat and ball. How many ATG all rounders can claim something similar?

Love such kind of overachievers. Rare in India, long may he continue. Khadoos Mumbai fighter.

Its funny but you can make out how India is doing in the match just by listening to the tone in Holdings commentary.

woooo.....thats a big long bow to draw....I'll have to track it thru my cousins in india, and chances are next to zero to get that cassette itself.
And if by some miracle we get that cassette, it has to work.

He's got the heart of a lion and passion to burn.
Plays every match like its his last. A perfect example of someone maximizing their whatever skills to tide over lack of talent or his physical shortcomings, doing what it takes for the team.
Ashwin in his tamil youtube channel gave a fab description of shardul, the person- said he was a real trier , a real fighter.

Moeen Ali's brain fade dismissal against Jadeja on day 2 is a big reason why we are in this position. What a chance England had at that time to shut us out of the test.
 
great fightback from india, down and out most of the game, this kind of play is what separates the men from the boys currently the likes of Pakistan would have surrendered after being bundled out for not so many.

On a side not india should clean this up pretty soon but the irony if the two racists deny them a victory, Overton and Robinson. :))

I think Rohit deserves man of the match, the best innings of the game and possibly the best innings of the series so far.
 
This will be one of our more famous wins.
