What's new

India (191 & 466) beat England (290 & 210) by 157 runs at the Oval to take a 2-1 lead in the series

I used to think Kamrn Akmal and Sarfraz were annoying behind the stumps.

But Pant is just a whole another level of annoying. Just shut up mate.

Wth even is Jadinder?

Nothing much to talk about in terms of their achievement. And you have yet to hear about racism in their cricket

There are some racists in every community. I actually think that the English are better behaved towards other ethnicities than average.

The comeback kids in this test have all delivered
Woakes with bat and ball, pope (1st innings)
umesh with bat and ball, Thakur yea...
And I must say, Robinson is a real find, a real star. Fantastic bowler but the real indicator of attitude is when u have to do something outside your comfort zone, He fought well with the bat in Lords test. He is also doing it now - a real fighter-an asset to the english team.

First time since 1986, we have won 2 tests in England in a series.

So we won despite Ashwin not being in the team! Well done!

Congrats India on deserved win after there efforts on last 2 days. england had chance of killing game off on 1st inns and blew it.

If England loses this series, would be difficult for Root to captain England in Ashes.

All the talk about Ashwin, the pitch did not have much in it.

India should go over for the Ashes instead of England. A small favour to the old colonisers. :kohli

How? England were 60/5 in the first innings. If anything, India let them off the hook to score a 100 run lead.

Congrats to the Indian pp'ers. These have been impressive wins.

If only the WTC finals were played now...I truly believe we went in half baked into the WTC finals against an opponent which not only had conditions similar to home but were more match hardened, and we lost in rain affected conditions on the SIXTH day, any ways small consolation ...what a test match, and kudos to Eng as well they fought all through and never gave up, we were never truly in front -they kept coming back -all in all test cricket rox and what a fantastic series we are having...

Congrats india.what a game!
RiP to those who ranted on every kohli decision. His selections, bowling changes were all spot on.
I say again leave it to professionals and well you are only good for forum rants.

Pope, bairstow, moeen were all well set when they got out and got out in poor fashion. yes england were in a hole but then threw advantage away.

India were better side thru days 4 and 5 and deserved win in end.

In these conditions England simply don't have a bowler who can take the wicket out of the equation and produce match winning spells. That was the difference.

Played India, roughly what I expected to happen.

England exposed on a flat wicket and terrible catching again.

They have two but didn’t pick them.

NASSER HUSSAIN offers his thoughts on a disappointing day for England, following an inspired bowling display from India!

"I think sometimes you just have to give credit to the opposition. We have all been disappointed with the way England have batted, the techniques and there's been collapses. People going home tonight having not seen the day's play will go: '140-1, 145-6. Another England collapse. Haven't we been here before?'

"I think today's example of a collapse - you have to give credit to Bumrah, you have to give credit to Jadeja, you have to give credit to Umesh Yadav coming back the way he did. Thakur - everyone said why Thakur? Well this is why; he gets useful runs, useful wickets.

We can be critical of England and maybe they should have given it a bit more fight, a bit more character, but Bumrah is bowling a toe-crusher to Jonny Bairstow fourth delivery. The ball to Pope. There were some seriously good deliveries flying around today."

Bumrah 6 overs 6 runs 2 wickets. He bowled like you would do in T20 death overs. That ability makes him a special bowler.

That remark aside, I find his incessant chatter incredibly annoying. He talks way too much. And the fact that they have turned up the stump mic in recent times does not help.

This Indian team just keeps impressing me more and more every time they play. Doesn't matter if they are bowled out for 36 or beaten by an innings. Their ability to come back from adversity is quite remarkable.

Unquestionably the second best test team in the world.

Impressive win by the indians! Congrats.

Seems like Kohli can win without Ashwin too.

Who would you have dropped?
Siraj was toothless in the last test as well as in this test. Rahane, we all know. In current form, Ashwin trumps him even with the bat in hand.

Thakur has probably cemented his place as test all rounder. Pandya will be better off as t20 and odi all rounder where he is good at.

You are two years late. I already said this before that Pandya should only play T20s. Without bowling in ODIs he will only make our team weak because he has no consistency at all. :inti

Agree with you. Thakur deserved it. Brought India back in the first innings and then got Root in the second.
Agree with this. There isn't a better player other than Thakur to be given MoM in this test. Would've given him a lot of motivation for his future games too.

Top performance by India.

A lot to think about for this Eng test unit because as mentioned even after first test, this this Indian team is looking better than the current Eng team even in Eng.

Indians are the masters of bowling on flat pitches.
They have won both London tests on flat pitches.
Bumrah was incredible today. Thakur overall deserved man of the match, batted brilliantly and took the crucial wickets of burns and root.

England bowlers arent as skillful as the Indian seamers.
Moeen proving to be a pie chucker at test level , Leach would have done far better than moeen.
England missed mark wood on this pitch as well.

Its not all gloom for England though. Woakes got 3 wickets on the flattest day 4 pitch in tests since 2018
Proving he is no longer a trundler who relies on swinging conditons. Hameed also looked really good.

ok, fair point, yep sometimes even i find it off putting as well, and should tone down a tad, but i guess he is not one of those nasty sledgers. still a young lad maybe will change with age

VIRAT KOHLI has hailed his side's character, as they enjoy more success in the capital to move 2-1 ahead in the series, heading into the fifth and final Test at Old Trafford, which begins on Friday!

"I think the best thing about both wins has been the character that the side has shown. If you look at how the game panned out - you mention the 100-run lead that England had in the first innings, to come back from there and the way we batted in the second innings, showed that we are not down and out, and we're not looking to survive in this game.

"If there is an opportunity to put the opposition under pressure, we will go for it and we put up a total on the board which was always going to be very difficult to chase, especially heading into the later half of day four and day five.

"I'm really proud of the character the team has shown, especially this morning, the way we bowled. I think it's definitely among the top three bowling performances I have witnessed as India captain."

Here are the thoughts of England captain JOE ROOT...

"It is frustrating not to be able to get anything from the game today. We turn up this morning and we really feel like we had an opportunity to win the Test match, especially with that opening partnership which I thought was outstanding.

"Credit to India, they got the ball to reverse and they made good use of that. It was a brilliant spell of bowling from Bumrah and that really was the turning point in the game.

"I think we look at other areas in the Test match where we may have missed opportunities. We could have been a little bit better, could have made more of an advantage of that first innings lead. Obviously in the field it's difficult, with some of those chances where you have got to take them against world-class players."

One of India's famous wins.

Message to Misbah, Waqar, Azhar Ali, Abbas, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Yasir Shah

This is how you win a test match for your country against top class teams unlike the habitual choking our players do

Wood was fit for this match. Also Sadiq Mahmood.

was'nt shakib injured for this match? and with overton's injury, they have no choice but to go in with wood.
and probably jack leach as well.
For india -Ashwin for jads, vihari/surya for rahane.
no way Shardul-kar will be dropped, not after this beefy performance,
Bring on old trafford, - cya guys - stay safe
Cheers:hasan2

Only woods was fit.

Broad out
Olly stone out
Joffra out
Saqib out
Stokes.

England are missing world class performers

This is a pathetic excuse. India had most of their main players missing in Australia and they still beat a full strength Australia in Australia and handed it to them in their background. This Indian team is indeed special
