Ouch. You shouldn't have said that because he won Gabba test for India even though it was Gill who laid the foundation there and Pant nearly threw it away when he was batting on 51. Let's not criticise him because few softies will get hurt and start slapping themselves. He is already a living legend. :facepalm :inti

The likes of Gatting, Atherton have become Obe and mbe by averaging in 30s, I thought at least an Englishmen would respect an avg of 33.

Bairstow doesn't exactly have groundbreaking records either. Averaging in the 30s in most parts. Guys like him, Pant are impact players. Pant is still the only wicket keeper batsman in history to score 2000 plus runs before turning 25. Rest are well below like 1500 and below. He also has the second highest dismissal counts at this age

Boucher 46 matches 87 innings 181 dismissals at 24
Pant 31 matches 61 innings 122 dismissals at 24

Pant still has more dismissals per match. Recent stats showed pant has the least number of drops.

If he had looked at the scorecards of SA series instead of just using a calculator, atleast spiciness of revenge pitches SA dished out to India could have been gauged. 37 is pretty good. Bazball has clouded the judgements of these guys i guess.

Brian Laras ATG innings included Healy ( IIRC ) dropping a sitter, Sachins SF knock against Pak had dropped catches, Steve Smith masterclass at Pune had couple of drop catches. These are part and parcel in cricket.

Nothing personal. It’s human nature. Hell,I talk about cricketing talent being at its peak in the 90s with at least 1-2 ATGs in each team.

I have already started talking about how reasonable was buying a house in naughties.

I bet some young spunk will call me an oldie for saying Sachin was the greatest.

Everything and every player has to be judged with a bit of context. Pant was poor initially. He has come a long way since then. There might be occasional blips. He has shown improvement.

This is what Sridhar has to say about his keeping

“He worked hard so hard on that Australian tour. It was mind-boggling. He sacrificed batting sessions to improve his wicketkeeping. I don't see any modern-day cricketer doing that. He did that. He went drill after drill to improve his footwork, glove-work, reaction skills, hand-eye coordination skills. I can write a book about it. I can go on and on. He worked really hard,” Sridhar revealed.
 
How is no journalist questioning the dropping of Kuldeep Yadav!

Indeed.

Pant's keeping has come up by leaps and bounds during last 2 seasons. He took some blinders. His collection has become cleaner too.
 
Kohli was able to turn it around in other two formats with hundred each. He is on his way to do the same in Tests too it seems. :vk

170/4 we were absolutely on top. Bundling out for under 230 is pathetic
 
I hope Kohli knows what he is doing. Currently batting like Pujara, defending everything.

Cannot boot all of them at once. But the process shouldve already been started. Bowling also is going under the radar. India need to move on from Bumrah in tests. That guy is not fit for tests and he does not care. Shami, Ashwin also are in their last legs.

Our bowling is also on its last legs.

Ashwin won't survive for long.

Jadeja has other priorities in life.

Bumrah loves only IPL.

Shami is way past it.

Axar doesn't matter one bit outside India.

Kuldeep doesn't get to play consistently due to petty politics.

Sunil Shetty should motivate him using his famous dialogue 'yeh dharti hamari maa hai'. Maybe that will give him confidence for next 1 inning at least. BD needs to bowl him bouncers directed on his body around off stump. On 6th stump and on leg side, he is comfortable unless it is coming at 140+ kph.

Good positive batting by these 2, unlike tuk tuk Kohli.
 
Pant is batting at 5 regularly for India.. Gilchrist batted at 7 for most part of his career. :inti

In test he is playing sensible shots with confidence. He dont feel any pressure while playing test. But in ODI match he play rash shot and get out. He was going for every ball to hit in ODI ,which ended in disimissal

In that 100 vs England, he played like this for first 50 runs. Then after that, he was able to find gaps with a lot of ease. He needs to give himself time and rely on timing and placement rather than trying to be too dominant. This is how he will succeed in ODIs.

In T20Is, I am not sure about his success.

Pant should be considered to play in only test format, it's high time to work on his fitness
