I think it’s the same thing as Sehwag. No pressure of scoring quick in tests, so he can pick and choose when and which ball he needs to attack. In ODIs, I think he must feel that he has no option but to attack from ball 1.
 
Good counter attacking inning by Pant. He is a better test player than a LOI player and he shouldn't feel bad about it. :inti
 
Bangladesh have a mental block against both India and Pakistan. I doubt they will ever reach the level of Sri Lanka let alone Pakistan and India. :inti
 
Pant is Indias highest rungetter in tests this year averaging 71 and strikerate 91. Those are illegal stats.

Sehwag has issues with one day field sets. SOmetimes to trap Sehwag in Tests teams set ODI field set like having a deep third man first over.
 
100 partnership. I still can't digest the fact that KL Rahul gets to decide Kuldeep cannot play. WOn't get over.
 
Thought 250 would be a good score on this surface. Pant makes batting look too easy on here

Pant 11 innings 21 six in this year .If he hit one more six he equals shewag's highest sixes in a year 22 sixes by an Indian. Shewag did that in year 2008 and taken 21 innings to do that.
 
I think Gill should focus on LOIs. He currently does not have the defense or temperament for tests. My choice would be to bring a leftie like Jaiswal. Knowing the TM, nothing would happen. Rahane has scored a double hundred in Ranji Trophy and i am fearing the worst.

Jaiswal and Sarfaraz in sublime form they are scoring hundred after hundred.

Rahane came in when Mumbai was 176 in 32 overs lol Damage was already done. Also Jaiswal did major damage in his partnership with Rahane.

it is easier on this pitch when the ball gets soft like after 35-40 overs or so. but yeah the intent from these two has been how it should be. no point being defensive to get out to a jaffa.

Pant was playing shots even when Kohli was batting lol It is not the pitch or ball. it is just the mindset.

Good to see Iyer's improvement in Tests. He should cement his place in tests, should play overseas also. No harm (though he will have issues with pace bowling, he can overcome somehow being a middle-order batter). India needs to build a new formidable test team. I think Pant, Iyer, Siraj, Kuldeep are the key players for Indian test team for next few years. We need to start growing on this core... Need to get rid of the oldies one by one in the meantime... No need to get back to Rahane anymore because of Iyer. No more mistakes please...
 
I have nothing against defensive play, but you should not be doing that if that is not your natural play. Pant for some reason went into his shell after tea and paid the price.

Maybe he was playing for a century? That's the difference between Sehwag and the others. He would have hit a 6 on 94 to complete his century. :inti

He had 5 90s before this and each time he got out playing a big shot. I dont think he plays for his 100s.
 
Pant is like combination of Sehwag and Tendulkar..bats like Sehwag till 90 and then becomes Tendulkar..

87 is a good lead, thanks to Iyer and Pant otherwise King Kohli and Queen Rahul had some other plans. :inti

Four-wicket hauls from Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam helped Bangladesh bundle out India at 314 on Day 2 of the ongoing second Test in Mirpur.

Currently, Najmul Shanto and Zakir Hasan are standing unbeaten as Bangladesh's score read at 7/0 at stumps. The hosts trail by 80 runs. Earlier for India, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer shone with the bat and smashed 93 and 87 runs respectively.

On Day 1, India had bowled out Bangladesh for 227 after the hosts had elected to bat in Mirpur. For India, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin had bagged four wickets each, while Jaydev Unadkat had taken two on his return to the team after a 12 year gap.

For Bangladesh, Mominul Haque played a brilliant knock of 84 runs before he was dismissed by Ashwin.

You are wrong. They have the ability but they have been out of form and that too for far too long. KL, Kohli, Rohit needs to go. Pujara can stay for 1 more year. You need some experience also. Kohli should only play ODIs. Pant should only play tests. KL should restrict himself to pyjama leagues and International T20s only. Rohit should make himself available for LOIs only. India need him for the World Cup. And Bumrah is bumrah, he will be fit only during IPL. :inti

Is Taskin's action legal? He is clearly throwing from the naked eye and his action only got worst in recent times.

Bangladesh conceded too many runs lead. They have to bat out of skin to make a match out of it. I don't see any batsman who puts a price on his wickets. Except the debutant Zakir everyone lacks test temperament.

Yeah. 227 was below par. 350 in 1st innings could've been really handy.

Anyway, good on Bangladeshi bowling attack to restrict India to 314.
 
Still unable to digest reason for dropping Kuldeep, ridiculous.

I really wish we have a new era before the wc.. this is terrible.

Unlike many others whose actions seems questionable, he actually went through testing and got cleared after modifying actions.

You will never win test matches by batting alone. BD bowling lacks bite in the middle overs. This will be another L just like all their previous games.
 
Seniors in the team are on their last legs. Kohli has done nothing in international cricket in the past 3 years other than bullying Pakistan and a few decent knocks once in a blue moon. Same goes for Rohit too. Living on past laurels.

KL Rahul needs an immediate break from cricket. He is mentally shot and lost all confidence in his abilities.

I sincerely hope, Unadkat does not get any more opportunities after this Test. If India want to bring Tried and Tested Failures back, then why not bring back Ishant Sharma who was bowling very well before he was dropped?
 
Can bangladesh put some meaningful 2nd inns runs on board and give india to think about batting last? I doubt it, but you never know.
 
india needs to get BD for a low score. target less than 200 can be chased with a few top order wickets lost against hard new ball.
 
Kohli can't even bully BD bowlers now. What's the point of playing him now? Should retire and stop embarrassing himself.

He always gets out playing silly shots like tailenders .
Should not get an ipl call ,never.

I think Shakib is finished and has been so for quite a while. He performs well here and there but old consistency is long gone.

Should definitely hang up boots after next year's World Cup.
 
Mushtafir Rahim once used to play big knock against India.Now he regressed badly. Only Zakir seems to be good prospect in test
 
Unadkat causing so many problems bowling at less than 130 kph. Tells u the value of discipline learned from years of first class cricket. Something for Pakistan to take note of.
