India (314 & 145/7) defeat Bangladesh (227 & 231) by 3 wickets - India win series 2-0

There should've been more close-in fielders when they were 80/7. Field placements were defensive.

Poor captaincy.

Ashwin is the new Dhoni type finisher, across formats :dhoni

India almost choked there, good batting by Ash and Iyer, Rahul and Kohli should be ashamed.

Man this win will hide the all errors ,blunders made by coach Rahul and captain Rahul.Bangladesh threw it away

Great batting by these 2. Thank you very much Ashwin and Iyer.

Well played to BD and commiserations to Bangla fans. They should take great heart in this as well as Chattogram test performance. Good fight

Ashwin has improved his batting so much and been batting well in every tests but his bowling has declined.

He bats better than our too order but i doubt he bowls better than them anymore.

Hopefully after ths series, VK does not field in slips but where is best, ie - cover -midwicket, mid on etc

Brilliant display by Bangladesh. Mehidy was weaving magic. Somewhat a tough pitch to get set and score runs

Iam really mad at our top order for ALMOST gifting a Test match to BD. Ash/Iyer/Axar

BD bowled way too short once ball stopped spinning. Once they get close to win they just can't believe and choke.

From here, i think KL will go once hit man is back. Gill is also skating on thin ice.
We need to invest in young LH batsmen. I'd go for young Yash jaiswal. or even Washi Sundar - due has the defensive game to open, is a decent fielder and can give you overs.
we have to change our mindset. Whilst at it....get Umraan in the test mix...we need his pace. enough of the 120 kmph sir bhuvi sobers type trundlers

Ashwin is clutch and mentally very strong batsman. He also plays that Emi Martinez kind of mind game with opposition. Iyer is probably best player of spin going around in the world. On surfaces like this where ball don't bounce over the knees, he is very good.

Good 2-0 whitewash by team India

:)

After India's 3-wicket win over BD in 2nd Test

Kela doesn't deserve this win at all. What a loserish captaincy, batting. They dropped Kuldeep and escaped with a narrow win.

Dominant India consolidate their position in the ICC World Test Championship standings with a sensational win over Bangladesh in the Dhaka Test.

India soared to the No.3 spot on the World Test Championship standings following their victory in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram, and further up to No.2 after South Africa lost to Australia in Brisbane last week.

A victory in Dhaka has resulted in India strengthening their second position, with their win-percentage improving from 55.77 to 58.93. Australia are at the top of the table while South Africa (54.55%) and Sri Lanka (53.33%) are right behind India at No.3 and 4 respectively.

India resumed Day 4 on 45/4, needing 100 more runs to seal victory in Dhaka and a series sweep. Early in the day, ace spinner Shakib Al Hasan trapped Jaydev Unadkat in front, sending the India batter back for 13. Wickets continued to fall as the visitors lost two more wickets in quick succession.

Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled beautifully to claim two big wickets in two consecutive overs – Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel – and also completed a five-for. While Pant was dismissed LBW for 9, Axar, who was holding the fort from the other end, in an attempt to play a defensive shot was bowled after the ball clipped the pads and disturbed the leg stump.

India still had able batters in Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin to take them across the line. The two batters batted with caution and took their time as they kept rotating the strike. After settling in nicely, they started batting aggressively, finding gaps regularly.

Soon, their partnership crossed the 50-run mark with India needing only 20 runs to win. At this stage, it looked like India's game and it eventually turned out to be one.

The duo chased down the total in the morning session, helping India seal a three-wicket win.

India's next World Test Championship assignment is against Australia, a four-match series at home in February-March.

This may be the first time Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka aka all of Asia are on more or less equal footing as test sides.

Not at all. Our team is poor but still #2 with test wins in Oz, SA, and England. The other three are at a similar level with Bangladesh being slightly superior to Pak / SL due to their bowling attack.

Hopefully we will have Umraan, Kuldeep sen, that young U-19 guy Rajvardhan hangarekar against Aus in the test team

Iyer should have gotten the man of the tournament. Pujara scored soft runs on batting paradise in the first test and failed in both innings of the important match on a decent surface. The series would read 1-1 if it wasn't for Iyer.

in a test series? to drop siraj, umesh, bumrah, shami who did no wrong? this is even funnier than your IPL salaries post yesterday.
why fire the bowlers when the poor performance was from the top order in this match?

KL Rahul - India Captain You just trust the guys in the middle. There's always belief but there were nerves, we are human. But we trusted the batters out.

Because our batsmen are fat cows who are blameless.

In this test our bowlers did all the heavy lifting both with bat and ball, save Iyer and Pant.

poor poor poor performance from the top order. making an ok spinner like mehidy hasan to look like a legend. didn't defend well and didn't attack too. poor stuff. KL, pujara, kohli regressed against spin. india badly needs rohit to come back and get going straight away.

India got away. Ridiculous team selection. BD missed the best opportunity to open their account against India. Must be feeling very disappointed. One wicket away to get into the tail

"We need the experience of senior players for such a big series. It would be unfair to the youngsters to be thrust upon a big series "

This would be the narrative of experts ranging from Jaffer to Chopra about upcoming Aus series.

This is why a loss was needed here. It will hurt us long term.

i never said fire siraj, umesh, jazz, shami - check what you are smoking before you post. I meant we need need to intro these kind of young pacemen as they are the future, the second line of pacemen once the seniors performance start dipping. mixing with the seniors would do these kind of guys a world of good.
try seeing the bigger pic.

Can someone ask him why was he not in the middle when his team needed him the most?

I just hope he comes to my city on the 10th of Jan, just so that I can boo him to my heart's content. He isn't good enough to play school cricket.

Why did Pujara get the MoS?

Iyer was a more deserving candidate.

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul on Sunday admitted that India missed the services of left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the second innings but said he has "no regret" about leaving him out of the final Test against Bangladesh.

Fresh from his match-winning show in India's 188-run win in the Chattogram Test, Kuldeep was benched for an extra seamer in Jaydev Unadkat, a decision which was slammed by the likes of Sunil Gavaskar. "I don't regret the decision. It was the right decision.

If you look at the wickets, our fast bowlers too have taken many wickets and they had a lot of assistance. There was a lot of inconsistent bounce," Rahul said defending his decision at the post-match media interaction.

KL had no regrets? Wow. :facepalm

I would be happy with wholesale changes for Aus series but i dont think it will happen. Shami, Jadeja and Rohit might come back into the 11. Gill, Unadkat might miss out. Umesh could be as well depending on the balance. Bumrah will be preparing for the more important IPL.

Glad BD lost in to end. If they had won, it would've masked consistent failure of management, coaching staff, and of course certain players.

Hopefully, we will start seeing some changes starting with that good for nothing Russell Domingo.

This entire series was all just Mehidy vs India.

He don't have clue than .Even least interested cricket fan knows how important kuldeep in the team .Rahul is coward

Can we say that Iyer surpassed KL in all formats as a batsman?

The Rahuls almost lost a test in BD..I really hope we can make them step down.

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul backed the team's decision to not play Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test after India completed a 2-0 series victory in the series.

Bangladesh were effectively 26/6 in the second innings with India having an 87-run first-innings lead. Still, India were eventually left chasing 145 in the fourth innings after a fight from the lower order.

Spinners took 12 of the 16 wickets that went to bowlers in the third and fourth innings of the Test, but skipper Rahul backed the decision to go with the three quicks while not playing Kuldeep, the Player of the Match from the first Test.

"It was a tough call, knowing and understanding that he had just won the Test for us," Rahul said.

"But seeing the pitch before the game and on the first day, we felt that there will be assistance for both fast bowlers and spinners. We wanted to play the best team we can. And that's the call we made.

"I don't regret that, and that was the right decision. If you see the 20 wickets we took, a lot of wickets [ten] even the fast bowlers took. They had a lot of assistance and there was a lot of inconsistent bounce.

"All these decisions we took keeping in mind the experience of playing here in the ODIs. We saw that there was assistance for both spin and fast bowlers. Understanding that a Test match goes on for four or five days, you need to have both."

The win in Dhaka gives India a major boost going into the Australia home series with their chances of making the ICC World Test Championship final well and truly on.

everybody knows sun rises in the east, water is wet, new bowlers should be introduced to replace older ones eventually. the thing is you've asked for 3 test debutants in AUS series. and now you say you don't wanna fire the current ones as well. india will also pick 3 or 4 spinners/spinning allrounders, extra keeper and extra batsmen. you think they'll select 20 member squad?:facepalm
umran is just getting his T20I career started and hasn't had a good time in 7 First class matches he has played. hangargekar has played 2 FC matches, i repeat 2. i am all for trying new bowlers but they need at least some FC experience before being in test squad.
i don't smoke but even if i did i would think & post better than you did:ashwin

kuldeep sen can be selected in 15 for BGT. but they also need to look at others who have been bowling well in domestic cricket.

I somehow doubt KL had much say in the selections ... this is all RD.

Naah BD deserved to win and it would have given a tremendous boost to Test Cricket in BD, the long term benefits would far outweigh any short term gains. Heartbreak scenario for BD .... tough luck.
