India [367 & 75/0] defeat West indies [311 & 127] by 10 wickets to win 2nd Test and series 2-0

Chandu borde was appointed the chief coach and Robin Singh and Prasad were the Fielding coach and bowling coach respectively.

Thanks for the clarification. I think Graham Ford had turned down the job at the start of the tour and things seemed shambolic for a while. Shastri had been asked to stay on as team manager after the Bangladesh tour, but he declined citing his media commitments with Sky for the summer. All turned out well for India at the end as Gary Kirsten was appointed coach before the tour to Australia that winter.

I have been most disappointed by Rahane in Indian test team. He was massively poor in the home season but the team persisted him because of his success overseas in first tour.

The expectations were huge from him when the overseas tour started but he was downright pathetic in the England tour after the long string of failures at home and a 48 in SA in between the two is not enough to make up for it, particularly not for someone like Rahane who is 31 and he was expected to really take his game to another level at this age rather than go down.

If he doesn't do well in Australia tour, he should be sacked from test team forever because now he isn't reliable for getting runs anywhere in the world. Atleast, Pujara is reliable enough for runs in Asia.

Rahul also deserve only one more chance, to remind people he is an opener who was having first tour in SA and England, so it was harder for him. So, I will give the Australia tour and if he doesn't do well, drop him as well.

Oh yeah Ford declining was an embarrassing episode for Dravid. Ford was the coach of Dravid's county( Kent I think) and Dravid had recommended him to bcci. Ford declined citing his young children and Sharad pawar the then bcci president appointed Chandu borde for the England tour only. The guy could barely walk but got the job because Pawar was a fan of his batting in his younger days.

People were skeptical about Kirsten's appointment because apparently he had some not so flattering things to say about india when he toured in his playing days. But all that was soon forgotten and after 2011 world cup win he replaced Jon wright as the public's favorite foreign coach.

Not only that
Shastri even makes outrageous statements like "no other had a better run" , "this is the best team ever"

Teams loses & he comes up with excuses like we were "competitive"

I seriously hate this mentality of seeing being competitive in overseas as an achievement for a team which has best talent available among all cricketing nations

'We will learn from this experience and will definitely do better next time" is the most used phrase after losing series in SENA everytime. :inti

Is that why he stepped down as captain at the end of that tour ? Seemed very bizarre that he would quit on the eve of two important series against Pakistan and Australia. As Ganguly was not assured of a place in the team, I remember Tendulkar was asked to take up the reins but he also declined, which left Kumble as de facto captain for about a year before Dhoni was prepared to become test captain.

He doesn't give any response to posts which are not convenient for him.

I believe after the failure in 2007 odi world cup, dravid saw the test series win in England as the perfect opportunity to retire on a high.

I have always believed Dravid was tactically more astute than Ganguly but not as authoritative and couldn't stand up to Greg Chappell when it came to selection matters which resulted in quite a few losses for Indian team under his leadership.

Quit captaincy, not retire.

So you want do a Nair on Mayank?

I think it is quite criminal that a guy who scored an unbeaten triple century (the last part of which was scored very quickly) doesn't get a longer run. It is not as if the batsmen we chose for the SA and England tours covered themselves with glory. Our bowlers did their part, our batsmen lost both series.

Nair deserves at least a stretch of 10 Test matches.

I agree with you but what from what i looked of his batting he is very weak against pace bowling

Makes sense.

I don't think Dravid was a bad captain, to be honest. Chappell had the right idea to replace Ganguly due to his lack of professionalism - underlined by his languid approach towards fielding and fitness - but couldn't play the politics because he lacked the interpersonal skills to communicate effectively. Chappell was almost the exact opposite of Shastri in that regard.

HYDERABAD, India – WINDIES Captain Jason Holder took his fifth five-wicket haul in Test cricket to give his team the upper-hand and limit India to a 57-run lead in the 2nd Test in Hyderabad, however his batsmen made it go in vain, with the WINDIES eventually losing the game and series 2-0.

India started day 3 four wickets down with two batsmen insight of Test centuries. Jason Holder steamed in and had Ajinkya Rahane caught by Shai Hope for 80 to break the 152-run partnership. Two deliveries later, Holder trapped Ravindra Jadeja LBW for 0. India now 314-6

Shannon Gabriel had Rishabh Pant brilliantly caught by a diving Shimron Hetmyer for 92, the second time in as many innings he fell on the same score. And the WINDIES surged in confidence. India lost wickets at regular intervals, their innings ended when Gabriel castled Ashwin’s middle stump for 35. India all out for 367 and a lead of 56 runs.

In the opening hour of the second session the WINDIES were down four wickets, with Kraigg Brathwaite and Kieran Powell both dismissed without scoring. Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer settled into a nice rhythm, punishing the bad balls and executing some classic cover drives. But Hetymer showed batting indiscipline when he flashed at one from Kuldeep and was caught for 17.

Hope was next to go when he edged to first slip for 28. Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase then tried to get going but Chase could not conjure up his first innings heroics, as Yadav got him to chuck one onto his wicket. Shane Dowrich, who was doubtful to bat after sustaining a blow to his knee, had a slow trek to the middle but did not trouble the scorers as he fell in a similar manner to Chase without scoring.

The only bright spot of the WINDIES second innings was a 38-run partnership between Ambris and Jason Holder. The pair looked as though they could just hold on until the end of play to stretch the match into a fourth day with a reasonable lead. That was not meant to be, as Holder was caught behind for 10. Ambris continued but was trapped LBW for 38 when he tried to play an awkward pull shot. Bishoo struck 2-fours on his way to 10 not out, while Jomel Warrican was bowled by Ashwin for 7 and Umesh Yadav scattered Gabriel’s stumps for 1.

WINDIES all out for 127 with a lead of 71 runs. India opted to take the extra hour of play and with the stadium lights turned on, India wrapped up a 2-0 series win. Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul mixed patience and aggressive strokes to see their team to victory in 16.1 overs.

India winning by 10 wickets. Shaw and Rahul both not out on 33. Shaw was adjudged as the player of the series.

Captain Jason Holder expressed his disappointment with the batting in particular, “It was a tough series… our top order has let us down, but we’ve got some young talent to work with.”

What rubbish , day per day we are becoming Fans who say on basis of one match
Akmal >> Kohli
Shehzad >>kohli
Hafeez>>kohli.

Mayank is new star , Shaw is next Tendulkar blah blah blah

2017/18 performance of Mayank. How the heck you call him a hack. Fact htat you say Oval is a tough pitch underlines your ignorance. These days even Perth is a road. Learn why he is hyped before judging a player.

Most runs by an indian in a first class season in history
Most runs by a batsman in last year Ranji season
Second highest run getter in Syed mustq ali tournament
Highest run getter in List A tournament for the season
Highest run getter in Vijay Hazare trophy

Yup same oval pitch where India scored more than 500 in each innings and won last test by 118 runs. Ignorance is a bliss - my friend. Keep enjoying.

Indian T20 domestic league is yardstick for selection to Australia tour. :imad

Bravo - No wonder we have defeated Australia/Eng/South Africa = 5-0 everytime.

But go ahead its a democracy and free world. Put Mayank and why not Vihari + Karun Nair who scored 300 in Test Match.

BTW Jadeja has 300 in Ranji, but i don't trust to survive a session against Starc and Hazlewood.

But u keep enjoying...:faheem

I guess the_outsider appears very much an insider of BCCI ironically :))

No bhai. I just don't think I always know better than the people who have been doing this job for decades.

Whatever progress Indian cricket has made in the last few years, it is not because of your contribution. Or BVB's or my contribution.

If running and playing cricket on an international stage was so easy, then you and I would be doing it. Instead here we are on an internet forum arguing like a bunch of nerdy fans.

It's all a lot of fun debating with fellow fans and making up dream XIs. But if doing that suddenly makes you feel you are more suitable than Kohli to be India's captain, then that's a serious cause for concern.

Seems a few bans on their way now. Suggest be very careful before posting personal stuff
