Bat 2nd and win the game. It seems ball is going to swing and seam a lot.

Whoever bats First will be demolished.

Ohh shoot.

Lankans won the toss and bowl first. India will be demolished again.

18 year old Washington Sundar debut match today. He is a spin bowling all rounder. Not the ideal pitch for him to debut. May be Siddharth Kaul should have debuted today. He is a pace bowling all rounder.

No Rahane. Bad decision. He should have played in place of Manish Pandey.

Sharmaji is just making his place secure, this is what happens when you have an abundance of talent in your side! WS playing in place of Kuldeep :boom:

Its good that we are batting first, our batsmen need to adapt to tough conditions. What's good in bullying srilanka on flat tracks. Even if we collapse again atleast one player will play well and gain some confidence

Mathews swinging the ball both ways. He is bowling like a right handed Akram at slower pace.

Dhawan has learned something. He is standing outside the crease to counter the swing and seam and shortening Lakmal’s length.

Is BCCI preparing for 2019 WC? I doubt even Pom wickets will be such in July...........

They are just preparing for the worst for SA tour considering they arent going to play any warm up match now.
They aren't, the weather in the north is always like this in the winter, not to mention the moisture. If they were we'd be seeing grass on the wickets like Kolkata, though that experience might've scared them a little because we still need to win at home!

Both Indian openers took a lesson from MSD’s success in the last match. Standing outside the crease and not allowing the ball to swing and seam.

Instead of these white ball jokes against Anjelo & Lakmal, they should have been on board a week earlier and asked CSAF for couple of 3 day matches (FC status, not those jokes where 16 plays and 11 fields) against SAF A side with little money on stake.

If it's really meant to be for SAF preparation, then I can say that Indian pacers'll bowl wrong length for that different bounce in 1st Test.

I live in northern part of India, so I am fully aware about the weather conditions here. We did see grass in Nagpur and Delhi and that was the main reason which prevented delhi wicket from breaking up and spinners didnt come into play. When was the last time you saw grass at Nagpur and Delhi?

Even at dharamshala, when we played Australia there wasnt any grass but in the last match, you saw fair bit of it. Cant be a coincidence.

Agreed, but thats the closest you can come to replicate the SA conditions in India.

The grass at Nagpur is there for a reason, even at Wankhede, if there's no grass then it'be a repeat of SA 2015.

There's some grass in Delhi usually so that the bounce doesn't die off, nothing uncommon. Delhi doesn't breakup in winter, not with that kind of smog.

No actually there wasn't much grass, it was moisture as the commentators observed. The last games vs Aus was in Fab/March & that's when the hot summer starts.

No there isnt. Kotla wicket is usually barren. Also, there was no grass at Nagpur in T20 game against NZ, which was after that SA test, so there is no reason to assume that they would leave grass for a test match.

Also, there was an interview of Shastri where he said that they wanted Kolkata like wicket at Nagpur but since the wicket had already been prepared, they couldnt do much about it. They were satisfied with Delhi wicket though. Will try to find the link.

Thisara is the worst guy in the Lankan squad, and he's your captain. Doesnt even know how to rotate bowlers, or attack when bowlers are getting swing.

Shows the IQ level of Sri Lankan thinktanks

Congratulations shreyas on your wonderful maiden 50. Great confidence and technique. You look way more confident than Manish pandey. That's a good news. Oh boy you are changing gears too.

King cobra getting smashed today. Rana

Sri Lanka came down to earth after 1 match fluke!!!! Will loose this match by massive runs. Hope I am wrong

Brilliant innings by Shreyas. Thoroughly enjoyed his performance. Future looks bright for him.

Babar Azam should learn from Shreyas Iyer how to play sensibly without being selfish!!!!At that stage Babar will slow down more to get his 100

Why would you send in Dhoni ahead of Pandya in the last 5 overs?

There's one thing, when in flow, Only de villiers can match Rohit in the amount of carnage which ensues when he gets going. Absolutely murdered the bowlers and stomping on the graves now.

Takes a single... I hope for his own sake Pandya doesnt take a single on the last ball. :amir3

This is just too effortless for my liking. :))

Why can't he play like this from the starting.

It will be disappointing if Rohit can not 12000 ODI runs.
Sri Lanka will loose this match by 200+ runs.

Rohit has mastered the art of getting 200s in ODIs.

We have seen 7 200+ scores post the two new balls rule, may be lack of reverse swing along with hardness of bowl has to do something with it.

I wonder where our batsmen were hiding in Dharamsala. Behind the creek?

ODIs (Cricket in general) will die if all pitches are like that... Anyhow if needed we can still play cricket by bringing up players suited to only that kind of cricket in the ODI setup (Pujara & co) so that 150 to 250 runs becomes norm in ODIs. Actually our Test Team is in proper shape at the moment!

On the other hand (for the gallery) wonder if Sri Lanka or any other team can come up with batting performance such as this on so called flat pitches in regular intervals (not just one-off upset performance!)

So India are back to flat tracks just after one humiliation? What about that preparation for SA lol.

From what I have seen, Dharamshala seems to be a win the toss win the match pitch.

Lack of reverse.not taking any credit away from Rohit.

South Africa will never come up with such pitches for ODIs (Do you know highest runs scored/chased there?) Even for Tests they usually don't come up with nasty pitches (because it backfired them at times!) The actual problem is Indian spinners are totally out of equation and the pacers cannot exploit the bounce. So it is about SA outsmarting the opposition in some matches. You won't see whitewashes there or huge margin defeats (except when South Africa had tremendous team in the past) I remember at least a couple of occasions when India missed golden chances of winning series there!

I don't think Indian think tank has faith in Kuldeep yet. He is always in and out of the team.
