If this Mukund is the backup option to Dhawan and Rahul, then God save India. This guy cannot play anything over 140 and looks terrible against new ball. He might score a few on this flat wicklet, but he should be no where near the Test team.
 
No Kuldeep. Pathetic Decision.

Jaddu and Ashwin will be taken to cleaners in sA. There is no mystery about them in those conditions. Kuldeep would be handful irrespective of the surface.

Against this mediocre Lankan team, India should test youngsters. Instead we always play it safe.

Hope selectors kick him out for good.

Same old script. India will post a huge total against this inept Lankan attack. Then Lanka will crumble under pressure.

No new faces to look out for other than Pandya. Basically boring. If the wicket flattens out even more, then this can be a draw too.
 
Don't understand the reason behind Mukund being given SO many chances. There's at least 10 better openers than him.
 
I think Indian fans are massively underrating Kumara. I don't know how successful he'll be in this match but he's a good bowler from whatever I've seen of him.

Was surprised myself since he isn't contracted by Ten Sports. They were probably falling short on Sri Lankan commentators so invited him. Like his commentary so he's definitely a welcome addition.

He's obviously done well in the domestic circuit to earn a place in the side. And I wouldn't say he's getting SO many chances. This is his second test match since returning to the Indian side and that too because Rahul was ill.

Mukund has some serious technical issues. Guy is never sure of his off stump and plants his foot early for fuller deliveries. Basically he is a candidate for caught behind or lbw with the new ball. At least Dhawan for all his weaknesses only fishes outside off.

I find Lankans to be very athletic and strong . Very good fielders. Look at how strong Gunaratane, Dickwella, Prassanna are.

Don't see that quality in Cricketers like Ashwin.
 
Shastri and Kohli must be like - "Look at how our boy Dhawan is clocking at almost a 100 while that tortoise Pujara is just taking away all the momentum from the innings! Best time to drop him for someone AGGRESSIVE.. someone like ROHIT SHARMA!"

Put your conspiracy theories to rest sir.

Pujara will not be dropped unless he fails moseryfor the next 15 tests. He is too good to not score for that long. He is in terrific form and will score loads against these La Jan bowlers.

Mukund is playing because both Rahul and Vijay are injured.

Mukund will not play next Test.

Dhawan does not have the calmness needed when reaching a milestone. He plays way too aggressively and throws it away.

300 was there for taking. Nothing pitch and mediocre bowling.

Now lets watch Kohli and Pujara score tons.
 
Here is a test match for all those people who says test cricket is the best... I gave up even before lunch.. what a waste of time..
 
Sri Lanka right now is on par with Bangladesh in all 3 formats. India should be disappointed if this doesn't end up with a 3-0 Test series win.

The series actually shouldn't even be happening. India already toured SL in 2015 for 3 Tests and since then they haven't toured anywhere other than WI. It makes no damn sense to return to SL for another 3 Tests. This is a purely political series put into place by BCCI to strengthen SL board's support for them, nothing else.
 
Pujara is an elite in his role, big scores in Australia, England, and South Africa should see his cement himself as one of Indias greats.
 
These type of matches only end one of two ways. Either one team scores 600 then the other team crumbles under scoreboard pressure, or the other team scores 600 as well and it just ends in a boring draw.

Pathetic pitch I'd assume.

Flat pitch, nothing for the bowlers, should declare at 550 and look to fold Sri Lanka to 300 and let them follow on. Hard to watch this match, easily put you to sleep.

False, British felt Sri Lankans were lazy and unproductive and hence imported South Indian workers mainly from Tamil Nadu to work on their tea plantations. Mukund and Dickwella look alike.
 
Sri Lanka's other bowlers need to support Pradeep, who bowled decently on the first day.

Nobody watches T20 or ODIs between these two teams either. Extremely boring because neither team have any standout pacers that make you wanna tune in.

Most people watch T20s for 6s and 4s and not wickets. Low scoring T20s are often boring and very minimal. Every board prepares flat pitches for T20s to ensure full entertainment. India may not have world class bowlers but in batting we definately got lot of fire power.

As far as watching T20 between India and Sri Lanka, i do agree most contest is one sided and boring, however most Indian fans will still watch it. Virat Kohli alone will attract million eyeballs in India.

A new sri lankan team chased 321 against india just recently and again T20 can be extremely hard fought.. but look at this test match for god sake You think sri la ka will give a fight once India scored 600 runs.. No wonder crickets popularity is going down the hill around the globe.. Test matches should be banned asap only to be played On lively pitches and should be divided into two tier system. So be in top 4 teams in test if you wanna play test against a top side other wise play 1st class matches which shouldnt be put into record books.

People scoring double centuries for fun.. what crap?? Scrap the test matches bring on the T20s for remainig days and see how much fun it would be.

India's batting is only worth watching when the opposition has a strong bowling lineup.

It was a big tournament match with a lot of trash talk leading up to it. Ain't nobody watching bilateral series between India v SL no matter what they're chasing. 300+ is the average score anyway when these sides play. Nobody wants to watch batsmen smashing 6s and 4s against the Kumars and Prasads.

Hearth got destroyed in 1st innings. Looked out of sorts. Everyone pounded him.
 
Srilanka 98/3 currently feel if mathews play well they can go past 400 runs. Shami is bowling beautifully as expected.Waiting to see pandya bowl.
 
Pacers got the top order cheaply. Now it's up to Ash and Jaddu to get the middle order.

Unfortunately, this is a flat wicket. You need the wron'un to get wickets. Ash and Jaddu can be played out easily just like Herath was battered.

Not playing Kuldeep is a big mistake. Ash and Jaddu will be useless inn sA and Aus pitches.
 
India playing like no 1 team. Hopefully gap between first and second will get bigger and bigger.
 
This Indian team has the potential to be the greatest test team of all time. What a team.

Hopefully kohli and Co will be able to take their rating points beyond 130, that will be a great achievement.
 
At the end of the 2nd day the Indians have their tails up. For SL now, it all depends on Matthews, as they are already 6 (practically) down !!!

& then aus beat india in 1st test & also drew one test loosing 2-1 is not bad in india atleast.

Srilanka beating aus was fluke and looked like aus batsman didnt play well
