What's new

India beat Bangladesh by 208 runs in the one-off Test match

That's 2 no balls (by taskin) in succession which have not been called out.
Stupid ICC, also no one here calling these umpires out for such blunders, not a surprise tbh since virtually every other neutral was moaning about the Shamsuddin shockers :13:

Kohli now has the most test runs in a home season, getting ahead of Sehwag's 1105 in 2004/2005.
Bradmanesque average this home season :D

Also did anyone notice how his batting is going Ponting's way, the front foot pulls & serial cussing, though he's cut down on the latter. His test career is almost mirroring Ponting 6 years into test cricket, except he's the captain (that's helped him immensely) for ~2 years while Steve was leading Aus at that point in time.

Best batting duo in test cricket, comfortably.

Best batting duo to watch for sure. Great balance between the two and both run aggressively which means it is so hard to bog them down.

That said, statistically the Vijay-Pujara partnership is slightly better.

Just enjoy the batting. He is putting on an exhibition here. Young budding cricketers should use this as an educaitonal video.

Similar was the case in 2003 WC match when akram bowled no balls after no balls.
ICC is ofc firmly in BCCI's pockets and conveniently isn't when things are overlooked.

And with that blistering shot, Kohli goes past Sehwag's 1105 in 2004-05 for the most Test runs in a home season. World record, smoothly erased.

Waiting for Sehwag's tweet. I bet he has some interesting one liners up his sleeve since yesterday.

Imagine some good batsmen getting 15-20 tests against BD. Average will immediately go up by 5 without batsman doing anything extraordinary.

Only 5 sessions so far, but Bangladesh have performed much worse than us.

I expect India to declare their first innings with a run rate close to 5.

England say hi (ignoring the 15-20 Tests) :))

He won't get a better opportunity than this.

Now you are basing your reply on him yearning for a score than India's interest.

It is stupid to make assumptions and predictions about what ll be his call anyway. Not interested in stretching this silly topic.

Was this really unexpected? Their only real chance of being competitive might've been when or if they got a turner, seeing grass on this pitch means that their weaker avenue i.e. pace bowling is highlighted & they've done consistently poorly in that area. I bet Aus will not be seeing a blade of green grass on their upcoming trip.

shaz619 the man with three H's would be proud of the way India have buried these young, promising talents :)))

Well, some Indians were talking up Bangladesh and how they would provide them their sternest test at home..

Certain batsmen have inflated their averages by scoring a lot against BD and Zim (post-2000s) and that certainly needs discounting.

Someone sounds mad that Tendulkar's legacy is under threat :mv

Well, some Indians were talking up Bangladesh and how they would provide them their sternest test at home yet...
They were obviously overrating Bangladesh, on the flip side we might still be underrating Aus though, we do know a lot depends on the pitches.

Lets wait and see how the Bengali boys play on this flat pitch.

How they perform does not change the nature of the pitch. It's an absolute road.

Bangladesh will be batting with massive scoreboard pressure and against quality spinners in their home conditions.

No, getting close to the number of 200 though, with 194* being the cherry on top
Quite impressive to get this close with only 50 Tests, although Tendulkar did struggle to score daddy hundreds.

I never thought I'd say it, but Kohli might surpass Sachin in all formats and finish the GOAT batsmen (still a long way to go though).

Neither are the GOAT player - bowlers and A/R's are much more influential IMO.

The future GOAT (arguably) is already playing in this team with him :quote:

Ashwin? He doesn't do jack outside the SC.
He doesn't need to, doing well in 6 out of 9 countries should suffice especially considering the awesome roads we see these days, heck the DRS might help him a bit as a bowler. The deed needs to be done though, before we go down that road.

Some good spin bowling by BD here.

Hilarious stumping attempt lol. I have not seen something so stupid on a stumping.

Aus, NZ, SA and England are huge holes in any Asian players record.

Crucial 82 for Rahane with Nair breathing down his neck in Asia.

Also Saha seems to have got a promotion.

Not a bad idea at all.

Never had faith in this saha guy. Ever since he came down the track in the 1st test match on that Oz tour, he really exudes nothing in the name of confidence.

Today he simple reaffirmed the notion about his temperament/logic.

Kohli needs to get a new bat, looks clipped and does not sound good coming off it anymore.

I think I have seen enough from BD here to say that they will compete with most teams in home conditions on rank turners.

Taijul is a good enough containing spinner and Mehedi will be a handful in proper turning conditions. Shakib will pick up wickets as well.

Watched a couple of deliveries.

Godawful pitch.

Why have we resorted to such pitches? Surely no one believes we are afraid of Bangladesh spinners.

We gave easy pitches even to England who don't have the spinners to exploit them.

This has been said ad nauseam but he's played a lot only in Aus, not even half a dozen games in the other 3 nations, hence the "deed needs to be done" gaff.

I love that Mushfiq embarrasses himself at every turn and corner. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

We need to develop confidence in our batsmen (compared to the fab-5 era, our current lot of Batsmen lack the confidence & consistency as an "overall batting unit"). Otherwise we may struggle big time overseas in tough conditions (as we don't even have a lethal bowling unit to exploit in overseas conditions) We are winning the matches anyhow, so no complaints. We will change this around when teams start to find a way to negate our spinners on these pitches resulting in boring draws!

No batting lineup comes close to Indias in Test cricket. What a marvellous top 5. Opener ko mushkil se out kiya to Pujara ata hai. Pujara ko mushkil se out kiya to Virat ata hai. And Rahane is still sitting in the dugout

That isn't happening anytime soon though, is it? Only SA have combated our spinners well over the years, even they will have some trouble without AB & Amla on their next tour. We'll very likely roll over Eng/NZ/Aus on most pitches here, be it roads or turners but yeah the fact that we need batters in good form is an important point.

Bhai jaan Rahane has been dismissed already.

Lol at people suggesting its flat as it comes. The pitch has turn and grip.Already have an excuse ready for bangladesh that it would be scoreboard pressure and not pitch. :)))

There's absolutely nothing in the pitch for the bowlers. It's a batsman's paradise.

I m expecting Bangla batters to beat the crap outta our trundling brigade.

Tamim might end Ishant's career In this test :uakmal

Pujara is not that great.Needs to improve by leaps and bound. Rahane has difficulty facing spin. Bangladesh spinners were nothing special yesterday.

Now this will never happen. Not because Ishant is any good. Just because like thrown out dog always find his way back home ,he will be always back in the team

Ishant is a legend. He is our amir :))) Always unlucky! But dare you question he is not good enough :sanga

Come on, is that any way to address the GOAT pace bowler :46:

First batsman in Test history to smash four double-hundreds in four successive series, take a bow son.

Kohli u beast. I never thought u have this kind of game in test cricket but i am Very very happy to be proven wrong emphatically
