Pant can lead india to 350 . Will be interesting to see how England bat - I have a feeling it’s gonna be glory or die

It'll be a biggest test for Pant behind the stumps.. If he did his job decently then Saha's career will be over..

England have to bat out of their skins here for long periods at least 150 overs in first innings . The more they bat the better.

The way Pant is batting these days , Saha career is over , he is batting like a dream

England need to think a good strategy here , How to get remaining two wickets with less damage , maybe have more boundary riders when Pant is batting and attacking other batsman.

SIXXX
Pant smacks Ali here , out of ground , Pant is capable of hitting sixes at will , what a player ! second coming of GilChrist

India all out for 329, it is Rohit Sharma all the way. Without him India would have been probably 250 all out at most.

Poms have task cut out , since they batting last , they need to bat long time and get runs , runs are very important here , they need to get a solid lead here to come back in the game.

Can anyone name a worst tail in international cricket like I’ve seen bad but this bad jeez

this is a very good batting wicket......India is 150 runs short

Aside from Kuldeep, the Indian tail has batted atrociously there.

They could have easily got up to a fearsome score of 400 alongside the quick-scoring Pant, but as it is, the shot selection from the tailenders has seen the team lose 4-29 in less than an hour.

England are still up against it, but they have limited the potential further damage considerably.

I would have played Hardik in place of Siraj.
Siraj will run in all day in the hot sun if required by his captain.

Special snowflake Hardik is too fragile to bowl long spells that don't earn him much money. He can spend that time in the shade with his family :afridi1

Pant is also to blame here. He could have farmed the strike but he chose to give strike to Kuldeep after the first ball of the over.

They are showing the wickets again.

Which wickets truly fell because of the pitch, and not primarily due to batsman error?

Possibly just Pujara and Kuldeep?

Exactly l. I would blame both Pant and the bowlers for going for glory shots.

Sharma to open the bowling , most people would have thought Ashwin might get the new ball :)

Not the smartest batting from the batsman either. Should have never gone for that run off the first/second ball of the over. Then had the nerve to get upset that the tail-enders couldn't play out England's best bowler.

Pant is talented but not the most mature and level-headed individual out there. Apparently isn't the safest pair of gloves either. Reminds me of the Akmal brothers.

This is a spinners wicket. Pacers are there just to give rest to the spinners. You do not need a full time pacer for that. Siraj does not have the pace of stone to cause damage on this slow wicket.

Would that delivery from Moeen to Kohli turned as much as on a normal pitch as it did after pitching outside off stump? I doubt.

Our bowlers are hopeless batsmen apart from Ashwin, may be. No amount of thrashing will impart any sense in them.

You dont need the pace of stone to get wickets on abrasive pitches like this. I have seen Zaheer Khan bamboozling Aussies with 120 kph reverse-swing in India.
And Siraj is known for his reverse-swing in India and Pandya can no longer bowl after his injury.

Burns is such a poor batsman.

On this occasion he still can feel a little unlucky with the ball just kissing leg stump.

It is not going to be easy for England with the Indian umpires.

How can an umpire even give that he lost his **** cause of pressure from kohli and gave it. It looked like it would easily miss 4th stump terrible umpire

Well by that logic you might as well have gone with only Ishant and had Sundar in for Siraj.

The point is, you can never be sure before the game starts - what if England put in a good batting performance and the pitch doesn't turn from ball one. You need a pace bowler who will give his best. Not some namby pamby whose fans will even support his antinational activities :afridi1

India really missing jaddu here .jaddu with pant easily can score 400

I hope Kohli and Indian fielders are laying onto Poms. Needs to put them under pressure and break their resilience.

Need at least 2 more wickets before lunch, one of them of Root ideally.

I would play sundar in place of Siraj. On this pitch the great Siraj does not even get to bowl and the ball was given straight away to Ashwin.

I dont know if I like this move of letting Ashwin take the new ball. Virat shouldve let the quicks bowl at about 10 overs atleast and then hand it to the spinners.

There is not that much in pitch, Batsman just has to play well. It is not a rank turner yet despite commentators talking about it non-stop.

Poms need runs here , on this surface runs are vital , need to keep rotating the strike

First you said you want Pandya instead of Siraj. Which is what my responses was based on.

Now you're saying you want Sundar :shezzy2

Let's have a 15-man team when India play in India. 3rd umpire Chaudhary might agree if you put in a request to him :afridi1

Miserable stuff from Burns again.

Sibley looks the real deal for Tests though.

Now how is that.. umpire given Sibley notout.
