Now this is the real test for root.

He has scored his Indian runs on flat pitches.
This knock will determine how well he is against spin

This is going to be an easy pitch for Root...it suits his batting style

England better attack the Indian spinners, plodding and defending will only get them eaten alive on this wicket

Not the smartest batting from the batsman either. Should have never gone for that run off the first/second ball of the over. Then had the nerve to get upset that the tail-enders couldn't play out England's best bowler.

Pant is talented but not the most mature and level-headed individual out there. Apparently isn't the safest pair of gloves either. Reminds me of the Akmal brothers.
Kuldeep averages 24 with the bat in first class cricket with one century and 6 50+ scores, it was completely okay to hand him the strike.
Secondly Pant is twice the batsman Akmal was and even in wicketkeeping he is way better.

I'm particularly intrigued by this Sibley character. He looks so determined about the way he's playing spin, I'd love to see him fall apart as the series progresses.

His hands and arms move so much like Alastair Cook - but I think he's gonna soon fall into Ashwin's lap as the series moves on

1 down.
5 to go.
:rabada2

Why do England keep persisting with Sibley and Burns when it’s clear that their ceiling is 30-40 runs

I think England will get bundled under 225, leaving India with a lead of 100 runs.

Sibley got 80 odd in the last match. Burns is a problem however, he averages less than 30 since the 2019 Ashes.

Pant should concentrate on keeping .india can't afford any dropped catch

England are at risk of getting shot out here. Might be asked to follow on. Lol

Blindly sweeping won't work here, especially against the turn and to a quicker bowler like Axar.

Honestly, poor batting against spin by both sides so far here. Yes, the ball will turn, but they have made it look like a minefield.

Don't think that's surprise, teams are not used to batting on such tracks. Every time there's a puff of dust after the ball pitches has an adverse impact on a batsman's mind.

1(26) -- This will be hard if you play like this.

On this pitch they lost it when that coin landed, now it's just unfolding of the script. Only a miracle can save England now. Advance congrats to India for squaring the series.

Axar had Lawrence Lawrence with an arm ball but it was umpire's call. Pathetic that our home umpire didn't give it.

Ashwin asking for DRS, same story always...

Pant will bat the same way , that is the only way he knows , and that serves the interest of the team as well.

Disagree. He pick bowlers to target and does bkt attack all bowler. Didnt attack bess a sibgke tine last match before he got to 90s.

Feel sorry for any batsmen on the crease when Pant is behind you.. His constant yapping can drive you MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First time i am feeling sad for an indian taking wicket.

Weird lol.

Lawrence fought so well man.

Dude just needed to play off one ball.

Sitting ducks. It was obvious from the start yesterday that Sharma's approach was the only one that will reap runs.

Indians would be happy to lose 4 wickets and then take 4 here in this session. Some ordinary batting for both sides here.

England cannot defend and plod their way to 329, they need a Kevin Pieterson type counter attacking knock and only stokes looks capable of it

Don't know if didn't see it, but it as clearly a 2 but kuldeep was too slow. Cricinfo even spells it out the the only reason pant ran was becae there was a 2 there

And it's hilarious you compare with akmals because bowlers like Cummins are pointing out how pant has a brilliant cricketing game and the reason eh is so consistent is excuse he knows which bowler to targer

At this point peokle who compare him to akmals seem to be delusional and wishing instead of living in reality

Just a little turn and teams like England , SA , Australia just crumble if you have a decent spinner

England were in trouble from the time they lost toss on this dustbowl. 3 day games is what they should prepare for from here on

Akmal was talented no doubt , but you need proper game awareness as well , unfortunately most Pakistan Batsmen lack it. That is why even the best batting talents from Pakistan like Javed Miandad , Saeed Anwar , Inzamam etc are not in the same league as a Indian batting legends.

You cannot win Toss every time, you got to accept that. That is beauty of Test Cricket , you need to adjust yourself in different conditions.

Agree. But test match pitches are also supposed to last for 5 days and on pitches that start deteriorating from 3rd session on day 1 toss becomes very crucial.

Little lol. This is pitch fixing where you cannot win apart from winning toss. Rondhu Kohli went back to his masters to provide him a turning pitch.
SENA teams prepare thier pitches according to thier strengths if same done by subcontinental teams then it is pitch fixing.

We saw that in Australia when sydney and gabba were playing like rajkot on day 5. Only SA prepares poor wickets rest are all fine

This pitch reminds me of the kind of wickets India dished out to South Africa in 2015.

Nearly every ball was exploding out of the rough and we are only on Day 2. But then again, this is what home advantage is all about. England for me, lost the game when they lost the toss. Rohit and co. batted very well but pitch was not as dangerous on Day 1 as it is today.

Agree aus pitches had gone flat but what about nz, eng pitches. Whenever subcontinental team visits they dish out pitches full of grass.
