Not really, looked far enough in real time that it could have been left alone.

The thing that makes Sharma look so elegant and silken is the minimal footwork and not so elaborate backlift. He scores his runs due to his eye and reflexes but this also means his margin for error is narrower compared to some of the others.
 
Pujara finally off the mark, courtesy a cracking cover drive.
 
India batsmen just need to keep patient and runs will come. This test will be a war of attrition for both teams.
 
These 2 batting patiently biding their time, only issue with the lack or runs is a wicket or two would make this scoreboard look a lot different

accent really? i think he is awesome, like his insights about fielding positions and what happens in the dressing rooms, he brings about a new energy into the commie box which is so fixed on its specific way to comment...a breath of fresh air...he is .

CDG bowling gentle outswingers and Pujara / Kohli dead-batting it, gives this thing such a county feel. The one who tires first loses.
 
Poor ball and should have been put away. Don’t think he’ll miss out again though. The horizontal bat cut shot is just not a natural shot with Kohli’s grip.

Important partnership for India. Pant is dangerous but you want him coming later when the bowlers are tired.
 
Pujara's lack of runs has got really depressing.

That's why I was asking for 6 batsmen in final XI, 5 is way too less especially with so many pedestrian bats.
 
Rahane better not be falling over with his head in his first few overs. Has the game. Needs to show it here. Not much rope left for him otherwise.
 
Good tussle thus far. Great start by India and good fightback by NZ to pull things back. Sucks that the final is just a one-off and not a best of three at least but better this than nothing at all I suppose. Just hope rain stays away should be a cracker.

Another mohali tendulker moment there for kohli, sounded like a nick ball was very close to bat, flat line on snicko :))
 
Why did Upmire even ask for a review when New Zealand had 2 reviews left? There was no soft signal as well.

Rahane is a big match player. He will hit his third memorable test hundred tomorrow but still rate his knock at Lords better.

Because they don't have a clue about anything.

Just use the cameras/computers to figure out the decision and put these guys out to pasture.
 
Umpire basically saved a review for NZ. Williamson was going to take the review given how convinced Boult was. But then he stopped after watching the umpire reviewing it.

That can only happen if Kohli gets injured now and he is handed over captaincy! He will even win the match after that :))
 
Umpy must have thought it was out and went upstairs to check if it was a clean catch. To be fair did hear a nick sort of sound maybe it was the bat handle or something.

2. If they were so sure they must have given a soft signal of out.

Yes. And it's especially weak considering that Rahane averages less than 35 with the bat over his last 44 tests I.e. since late 2016. Dude doesnt make this team on merit. Our batting is incredibly weak nowadays.

Have headphones on myself and I definitely heard a nick might have been the bat handle turning or something because there was daylight between bat and ball on the slowmo replays.

Yeah. You play 5+5 combination only if you have all 10 of them are good enough in their disciplines, not when you've liabilities in abundance at your disposal.
 
Kohli has full measure of Boult's late in dippers.

Did anyone notice how much Pujara was chirping prior to this game? That's so unlike him. Pity he didn't spend as much time on his batting.
