India reach 276/3 at close of Day 1 with England under pressure after winning the toss at Lord's

Awesome hundred by KL Rahul. Where are all the people doubting him based on his 2018 series? :inti

Safe to say Rahul & Rohit has ended all debates about who our test openers will be in times to come.

Fantastic by Rahul.

We should shut England out by scoring 500 here.

Fantastic knock. Technically an absolute gem of a knock from KL Rahul. Ball was jagging around all morning.

Consistency is what he lacks in this format. Let's see whether he has improved himself in this aspect. At the moment KL is batting like Kohli and Kohli is batting like KL of 2018. :inti

Want KL to bat at 3 once Pujara departs which could be as soon as next test. He's too majestic to bat anywhere else. I mean, just look how he makes Kohli look like a peasant batting with him.

Well played KL Rahul.

Good hundred, but you have to say that England's bowlers have been a mess today.

India should be aiming for 500 here, really put England in a terrible place.

Next two days are sunny I believe, so they should cash in for a big total.

Really hope that Kohli gets a hundred here, good batting conditions now.

What a knock by KL

The acceleration after Rohit got out was insane

When Rajdeep speaks, you listen. :D

Good job mate.

Where is FC bhai?

He would be sooo proud of this knock.

Hahaha...cheers mate. Always supported Rahul since his ranji days as I felt there is a great red ball player in him. Agreed he lost his focus in between but hope he is now back at his best.

hasnt got the backing Rahane/Pujara are getting

but hopefully will from now

Haha really glad he kicked on.

Same here mate.

Me since 2013/14 or so I think.

Ok, this is epic.
This shot can only be played by the most talented batsman. I didn't see any Indian playing this shot since Tendulkar retired.
:aag
What do you call it?
A push drive lol

Kohli must develop some sort of backfoot game. His reflexes will go down as he gets older. He can't handle everything on the frontfoot. Some of the balls he gets beaten or edges can easily be played off the backfoot.

Really surprising to note that such a great batsman doesn't have a backfoot game!

Vieat gone .he poking every ball w outside off stump which he should have leave.

Gill has only himself to blame for not making opening slot his own.

The difference is so stark. Kl is playing late and with the movement and is in so much control. On the other hand, Kohli just had no control.

Surprised he even scored 42....looked like a proper tailender today. Has any other fab 4 player even been this out of form? Dont think so.

yeah struggled throughout

played sooo many deliveries he had no business touching.

Luck eventually ran out.

I respect scratchy knocks from out of form bats but this one felt different...it was like he kept making the same mistakes making it a very lucky knock.

KL playing one of those Pietersen style knocks.

Looks invincible.

Even Anderson is making no impact against him.

Hes an inferior batsman to even Pant Jadeja and Rahul. Worst batsman in the lineup :inti
It's amazing to see him in our test XI despite repeated failures.

Perhaps Australia series is saving him but for how long?

Hope Pant and Rahul replicate their form and partnership they displayed at Oval 3 years ago.

Since no one in the team management can say anything to him, I hope this poor form shows a mirror to him teaches him to stay humble and focus on both his batting and his captaincy.

Yeah, unbelievably arrogant (and senseless) for him to say that he has achieved everything as a captain.

He has been out of sorts for almost 15-20 Tests now. He is playing based on reputation. I think his time has come to retire.

Lol.. he's one of the reason india won series Australia this year.. Since then India only play 7-8 test match I believe..

Yeah, always wondered how come he was played as a test opener! He doesn't have a game for it.

he opens in FC and scores quickly, same as Shaw.So they might have gone with him.

To be fair,he did well in Aus topping it up with 91 in Gabba

Long term he'd be no 4/5
