India tour of Australia (2024/25)

Australia has had a mental block vs India, but after the November 19 humbling, you’d imagine that the mental block is over.

Australia should take care of India this time. It won’t effect India much though, because they can always claim that they have won back to back series in Australia which Australia would probably never replicate in India, but it would be important for Australian cricket to get this of their back.
After 19 November india already smashed Aussies in world T20 .

Anyway keep supporting Australia or china who ever plays India because your team has no chance.

But that did very little to ease the pain of November 19.

India will only return the favor if they beat Australia in Australia in an ODI World Cup Final.

Beating Australia on neutral territory in a T20 World Cup group game is not payback for what happened on November 19.

They are certain defeats that cannot be paid back and you have to live with. For example, losing an ICC tournament final by 180 runs.

It is one of those things that you have to take on the chin and move on.

Indian team were beaten by Australia in world Cup 2023 final but they recovered in few months to win the world T20 .

Indian team were badly humiliated by Australia when they bundled for 36 runs but they recovered in a week to win the MCG test and eventually won the series .

Win or lose is part of the game but how they recover from humiliation defeat depends on mental toughness of any teams.

India has shown over the period of time again and again that they have all the qualities to win the game from any positions.

Pakistan were humiliated by india in last Asia cup and still they hasn't recovered at all.

Not true. India have demonstrated over and over again that they cannot handle the pressure of knockouts. Their only success came against a team that is one step ahead of India when it comes to mental weakness.

The fake aura of Indian cricket ended on Nov 19 2023.

You can diss on Pakistan if you want and if that makes you feel better about the underachievement of your team.

I agree. Anyway this is a transition phase india. I expect a walloping from Aussies. 4-1
Aussies are goat in tests.

Aura of india in odi is gone. We are a mediocre side. We should give up tbh. Quit odi. Just focus on t20 and tests.

India has a very small population of 1.5 billion and yet they can't handle pressure. 30 mil Aussies who don't care one bit about cricket as it's not a religion for them is dealing with the same amount of pressure totally.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes Australia are playing mind games, he said on his You Tube channel:

"They are playing mind games. Australia will be scared of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Pant has scored runs recently. They are playing mind games. They are trying to target Pant. This is their mindset. They are showing something else and are thinking about other things."

"I will only say one thing about Nathan Lyon's stupid statement that Australia will defeat India by six Tests, but only by words. In the past two series, India have dominated Australia. Such comments don't suit cricketers. Ricky Ponting or former cricketers can make such statements. I request Ashwin to reply back and say that India will defeat Australia by 5-0."

Speaking of the decks in Australia, Pat Cummins said while talking to local Indian sports media channel:

"I think they've changed quite a bit the wickets, probably in the last four or five years. I think, there is a little bit more in it for us bowlers. The first couple of series I played in 2017, 2018, 2019, they were pretty flat in most venues, whereas most venues now I think get the balance really well between bat and ball. I think, over the course of five test matches you're going to get a bit of everything.”

“You're going to get some that move really quickly, but also maybe a test match or two where it becomes attritional and it's a real grind. I think, sometimes where the bowlers are licking their lips when the conditions do it in their favour, but wouldn't be surprised if there's a couple of days where the batters can really cash in as well.”

Might be the exception but I really don't mind majerakar. Yes some of his statements are outlandish and downright comical but I have no issues with him as a commie

He is quite shameless with his favouritism and partisan behaviour towards Mumbai players. As a player too,he used to be quite arrogant , bossy and egoistic as per ex players. So never had a good opinion on him.

Mumbai people and Mumbai players are classier than BIMARU people/players. It is not shamelessness; it is human nature to dislike unpleasant people.

Kl, abhimanyu easwaran/ sai sudarshan. Ruturaj is nothing but a stat padder on Indian pitches.India needs an opener with good technique .Gaikwad was bullied by burger in sa odi series on spicy tracks(2 matches, 4 balls and 2 outs for 0 runs i believe ). Gaikwad was failing in domestic season on spicy tracks too

Australian Chair of Selectors George Bailey said: “We are really excited by this squad, particularly after some of the tremendous performances to start the Sheffield Shield season.

“As always with Australia A selection we have picked a side we hope can present performances which are compelling for the upcoming Test summer, whilst also rewarding players for strong domestic form in roles we see as being important further afield.

“Australia A squads are pleasingly challenging to select which highlights the depth and talent coming through to accompany those more senior players on the edge of international recall.

“It will be a great opportunity for these players to shine against a strong Test nation looking to prepare for what is going to be a captivating summer of Test cricket.”

Allrounder not a necessity as Aussies face Test changes

Australia seems set on picking the next best batter in Cameron Green's absence

National selection panel chair George Bailey believes a genuine allrounder is more a luxury than necessity for Australia's men's Test team which will need to install a new opening batter for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series against India.

Today's news that incumbent allrounder Cameron Green will miss the entire summer as he undergoes surgery to repair stress fractures in his back means an enforced reshuffle to the reigning World Test Champions' line-up.

The prospect of Green's enforced absence had already prompted speculation as to the likelihood selectors would look to blood a like-for-like allrounder such as Green's Western Australia teammate Aaron Hardie or Tasmania's Beau Webster.

But Bailey reiterated the panel's philosophy is to choose the six best-credentialled batters in the country to fill the Test berths, rather than adhering to a boiler-plate of replacing injured or unavailable players with near replicas.

"I think it's a luxury," Bailey said today when asked if selectors were hellbent on adding another seam-bowling allrounder to provide back-up for Australia's frontline pace stocks.

"Even looking at the three quicks we generally play in Test cricket (Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood), they've played a lot of Test cricket together where they haven't had an allrounder.

"I think it certainly depends on the personnel that are available.

"The role that Cam (Green) and Mitch (Marsh) have played is they've been able to hold down a spot purely on the back of their batting and that's still fundamentally what's most important in that top six.

"We certainly have been, and will continue, preparing for Mitch Marsh to be able to bowl some overs as well.

"That's been part of his management and build for the last couple of months."

It was the desire to field the best-available batting line-up that led to Steve Smith's installation as opener following David Warner's retirement last summer, thereby paving the way for Green's recall to bat in Smith's previously preferred position at number four.

While Smith did not find consistent success against the new ball (171 runs at 28.5 from eight innings), Green averaged 50.3 and produced his best Test knock with an unbeaten 174 in Australia's victory over New Zealand at Wellington.

Bailey confirmed Smith will return to a role in the middle-order after his brief tenure as opener, but noted a decision on where the former captain bats will be made in discussions with current captain Cummins and coach Andrew McDonald.

"There's been a few discussions around that," Bailey said.

"I think Pat (Cummins), Andrew (McDonald) and Steven Smith had been having ongoing conversations separate to the untimely injury to Cameron anyway.

"And I think Steve had expressed a desire to move back down from that opening position, and Pat and Andrew have confirmed he'll be dropping back down the order for the summer.

"What exact order, who's in it and how they line up will be determined."

What is beyond conjecture is the need for a replacement opener with that race seemingly narrowed to Test-capped pair Cameron Bancroft and Marcus Harris as well as 19-year-old sensation Sam Konstas.

The trio have been named in an expanded Australia A squad to play two first-class matches against India A in Mackay and Melbourne starting later this month.

Despite being selected as the auxiliary batter for Australia's most recent Test engagement – last summer's tour to New Zealand – Queensland opener Matthew Renshaw has not been included in the Australia A squad.

However, Bailey indicated that reflected the immediate need for the upcoming series against India – who have triumphed on their past two Test campaigns in Australia – rather than any suggestion Renshaw had fallen from favour.

"We still really like Matt's ability to play," Bailey said.

"As far as Australia A selection goes, part of the process around that is trying to identify opportunities that may come around in the short-term.

"But also making sure we do keep an eye on developing opportunities and providing opportunities for players who may become important in different roles in the future.

"And the fact that Nic Maddinson and Matt Renshaw and Pete Handscomb aren't in that squad shows there's some pretty good depth there."

Konstas has emerged as a player with a promising future after the 19-year-old New South Welshman peeled off centuries in both innings of last week's Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.

However, Bailey pointed out the inclusion of the Under-19 World Cup winner in the Australia in the 17-man Australia A squad in no way suggested Konstas had jumped the queue for the vacant Test position ahead of more experienced rivals.

"He's in the mix, as are plenty of others," Bailey said when asked if there was a chance Konstas could make his Test debut this summer and become the first teenager to earn a Baggy Green Cap since Ashton Agar in 2013.

"But I certainly don't want to single him out.

"I think the consistency of Cam Bancroft over a number of years, the consistency of Marcus Harris over a number of years – they've both had a look at Test cricket as well.

"So I don't think there's any need at this stage to put any undue pressure or expectation on Sam.

"He's five games into his first-class career, he's had a good start to that and he certainly looks like he's got a well-organised (game) that we're really excited about and looking forward to seeing him at the (Australia) A-level.

"And we'll just continue to watch as that progresses."

As far as the bowlers' preparation for the five-test NRMA Insurance Test series against India, Bailey claimed veteran quicks Starc and Hazlewood were expected to play one Shield match for NSW in coming weeks.

The duo have also been included in Australia's ODI squad for the three-match series against Pakistan that begins in Melbourne on November 4, along with Cummins who is tipped to make his return to competitive cricket in a domestic one-day cup outing for NSW.

"The priority is absolutely the first Test of the summer so we're just making sure we give that Test group the best preparation for them as individuals," Bailey said.

India A team for 2 unofficial test against Australia A

Gaikwad (C), Easwaran (VC), Sudharsan, Nitish Reddy, Padikkal, Bhui, Indrajith, Kishan (WK), Porel (WK), Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel, Dayal, Saini, Suthar and Kotian

No harshit Rana and mayank Yadav means they are not going to be part of BGT .

Very poor pace attack compared to Australia A .

Mayank is still under progress for Red Ball format as per rohit. He is practising in the nets daily. But Harshit should be there .don't know the background of all tundlers there to get a vacation. What kind of practice indian team can do against these mediocre pacers in practice match

As per ci,one of the 3 opener's with the best show will be picked for the waca. I hope gaikwad fails as usual .otherwise he will be a walking wicket in Perth.

As per reports, David Warner says he's available to play against India if the selectors call 😮

Retirement is a joke nowadays. Make your mind ready before you come to a decision and stop making a fool of yourself

This is masterstroke by Cricket Australia if they include Warner .

Smith and Warner both can use sandpaper very well to end the drought of BGT .

Indian Selectors Eye Nitish Reddy, Shardul Thakur as Fast-Bowling All-Rounder for Australia Tour: Report

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is slowly upon us, there has been a major development regarding the squad that Team India will pick for the Australian tour, next month.

It is reported that the Indian selection committee are looking for a fast-bowling all-rounder for the Australia series with the likes of Nitish Reddy and Shardul Thakur as front-runners for the spot in the Indian squad.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the senior selection committee is set to meet in Pune after the second Test between India and New Zealand and the Indian squad will head to Perth on November 10.

Considering the length of the tour, and the series being a five-match affair, the Indian team would be comprised of a fairly large squad which includes net bowlers.

Shardul Thakur has been a part of the Indian Test side and had a decisive role to play in India’s famous victory over the Aussies at the Gabba in 2022. But since India toured South Africa in December 2023, he has not been involved in the Test side. Still, he has been a regular feature in the domestic circuit where he played a big role in Mumbai’s title-winning campaign in the previous Ranji Trophy season.

Nitish Reddy on the other hand is a fairly young prospect who had an impressive show in the Indian Premier League 2024 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since then he has been a part of the Duleep Trophy tournament and also made his T20I debut during the Bangladesh series recently.

Not good enough to tie shoelaces of Sachin and Sehwag.

But you wouldn’t know,
It says allformat, we're Sachin and sehwag main features in t20? Cause I recall Sachin only playing one and sehwag playing 19 and sucking at it.

And where did Sachin run off to in 2003?🫠

Oh okay so better all format openers than all Indians post the inception of t20, so basically the competition is just with Rohit, Dhawan and Gambhir.

Rohit is on another level in ODIs, Watner ahead in t20s, both have been htb in tests.

This series is deserved all the hype.

BGT is best test series and most competitive in world cricket .

The way Australian player's are talking about BGT even before 3 months show's that they are very desperately needed to win it
Brother it is not because the series is more important or competitive than Ashes. Aussies are ruthless and always eager to revenge. Just because they haven't won last 2 series is the reason this is getting some hype. Pre 2018, people would not even know there is some BGT going on as India was getting beaten like anything which was quite normal and so will be the case if Aus beats India, series will become irrelevant, especially for Indians 🤪

Can we talk about India's tour of Australia? It's not the right thread to talk about Sachin.

Not every thread should be turned into a Sachin is great thread.

Hosting Pakistan and West Indies Tests last season led to a $32 million loss making FY for Cricket Australia.

They're expecting 2 big seasons with India touring now and the Ashes next year.

India should have played NZ series after BGT. I want a solid gap between now and BGT. Bumrah will need rest with shamis' absence.

Exactly this is my thought . Australia players are fresh while our are not. This is Really poor scheduling before mega series.

Thanks, but no thanks, seems to be the message from Pat Cummins to David warner on his offer to come out of retirement for the Border-Gavaskar :dwView attachment 147032
Atleast Australia has the decency to move on.

Unlike India who are obsessed with rohit and kohli and have ruined them.

Had kohli retired he'd be seen in the class of Sachin, Lara, Viv etc.

But instead he is now seen a peg below and might even be deteriorate further due to his obsession to continue playing.

Plus Warner is already a better all format opener then anyone in the history of Indian cricket.

Australia will definitely Miss the service of Warner as he can use piece of sandpapers very well along with Smith. Atleast experience count for something :ssmith

Indians are bigger cheaters. Sachin cheated but bcci + Indian hooligans forced icc to reverse that decision.

Then Azhar has his God damn biopic made.

To top it off let's not forget full sleeve wearing chuck harbajan.

At the end of the day what Smith did to india in 2015 has caused Indians to be salty goons.

They just can't deal with the fact that 2014-2020 Smith happens to be a superior test batsman to any Indian batsmen produced.

Washington Sundar ia better test batsman than Cheater's Smith as he won the series for india in australia which cheaters Smith didn't in india.

Sundar even taken wicket of Smith in gabba test . :kp

Travis Head, Ricky Pointing and Adam Gilchrist are better odi bats then anyone India has ever produced.

Where's that wc final 100?

Dhoni ia better than any australia player in history of limited over formats .won the three icc trophy ( World cup , T20 World cup and champion trophy) which no players from Australia won :ssmith

Pointing won 3 wc in a row? Nothing can top that.

Also the reason why I rate gilchrist, Travis and Pointing so highly is because wc odi final is the most prestigious event in cricket.

Scoring a 100 their is always remembered more then scoring a 100 in some random fodder bi laterals series that no one gives a kahoot about except Indians who wish t9 glorify Sachin.

If you can't score during the biggest moment of your entire cricket life? Then you don't deserve to be called an odi goat. Sorry.

No one from Australia won the ICC world cup ,ICC world T20 and champion trophy come when they won these three trophy.

Cheater smith has chance if he can take piece of sandpaper to Pakistan in few months. :ssmith

Ponting won 5 ICC trophies (1999 WC, 2003 WC, 2007 WC, 2006 CT, and 2009 CT).

Try again.

This guy just hates Smith because Smith showed the entire team up in 2015 and wiped the floor with Indians while King Kohli and Rahane Botched and killed India deapite dhawan and rohit providing a proper start and giving Australia an early heart attack.

Leave it to Kohli to lose a game against aus in a semi or final 🤣

India will heavily rely on Pant and Bumrah's performance In Australia to win something. I am not rating Kohli high for this series because he has not been in form in tests for years now. Jaiswal and Gill can be a game changer

India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar.

Reserves: Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed

Note: Kuldeep Yadav was unavailable for selection for the tour of Australia since he has been referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand for long term resolution of his chronic left groin issue.

No shami that is huge lose .

Predictable squad's. Good to see Harshit rana is selected ..

Bumrah
Siraj
Akashdeep
Prasidh krishna
Harshit rana
Nitish Reddy

This is pace bowling attack which means Akashdeep is sure selection for first test .

India have announced their 18-man squad for the Border-Gavaskar trophy

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar.

Reserves: Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed

What do Indian posters here reckon? Already there are injustice calls for Kuldeep and Axar.

Prasidh Krihna is a waste of space. Not sure why he keeps getting selected.

The reserves look like an even bigger joke. Mukesh, Navdeep and Khaleel. :nehra

Axar performed extremely well in the limited chances he got. Somehow he is not favored by the selectors. India should have been playing 4 spinners and 1 pacer for home conditions. All 4 of Ash, Jaddu, Washi, Axar/Kuldeep should have been playing.

Axar to me is the best player of spin in Indian conditions. Others are overrated and sitting ducks. Its a shame that he got discarded and treated the way BCCI did to him.

No Kuldeep. Wow! Job got even easier for Australia.

I expect 5-0, 4-0, or 4-1 to Australia.

Seems Kuldeep has Groin injury.

Bowling will not be an issue in Australia. Its the over the hill batsmen that refuse to go are the real problem for India in Test Cricket.

Pace attack is looking very weak .

Don't think we can even win a single test this time . 5/0 or 4-0 to australia

All players are rusty and moral is down due to home series lose against Nz .

This series is gone and looks like 3 -0 or 4-1.Atleast should hope the culprits and spent forces like rohit, kohli will retire as there won't be any wtc final. Jadeja should be replaced by axar .If Jadeja can't take a wicket on spinning tracks, axar can replace him . Don't know the fascination with prasid

Ponting is a rubbish captain. He only won cause of mcgrath. We saw what he did post mcgrath.

Waugh I agree is a good captain.

Kohli is the goat Asian test captain though. But kohli is an average test player.

Ok. And in tests what happened after mcgrath retired. All credit goes to mcgrath and Warne. Without them 2 that team was very beatable.

Yes you can say that about most teams but when you have mcgrath it's like a cheat code.

Test cricket is reap cricket. Don't care about LOI achievements. I spit on Dhoni'a face for losing 8 0. I don't give a damn about his loi achievements. Loi achievements don't make you legends. Tests does.

If rahane is captain india will win the series. Goat captain. But alas it will be fat dumb dumb.

Australia didn't just rely on McGrath and Warne. Entire team was an ATG team.

Ponting, Hayden, Gilchrist, Gillespie, Brett Lee etc. They all gelled well to form a very strong ATG team.

Australia lost last two home series against India , I think they will be desperate this time to win.

It's not about their desperation. It's about India's lack of decisiveness and ruthlessness for the team performance .It's so typical of a sub continent team.Going for a team on pr basis than performance.

Jadeja should not be preferred now for a lone spinner role as he is not contributing in both departments. I hope management sticks with washi for aus tour.I am not sure about easwarans technique.its a baptism by fire for sure on perth pitch for both easwaran and nitish

India don’t have many options available anyways. They would hope a couple of pacers support Bumrah very well. Siraj was excellent last tour of Australia but now he is poor, he needs to turn things around.

One of Sundar or Jadeja will play at 7 and Ashwin will join them at 8 for 2-3 venues where there is enough for spinners.

Bowling isn’t all that good for India. Batting should do well on true bouncy pitches, KL will definitely be in XI and so would Rohit, Kohli and Gill. India will focus on winning one game at a time.
