From MSD's earlier statement,it seems likely that we will be fielding a unchanged side .
Found a bit of interesting news on pitch for 2nd test ,quote : VVS Laxman's succinct description on television of what the pitch in his home town for the second Test would be was "hard, firm and crumbling". In the previous Test played in Hyderabad, New Zealand were beaten soon after tea on the fourth day, with Ashwin and Ojha taking 18 of the 20 wickets. - [ See more at: http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v...urrent/story/622872.html#sthash.lLWKlz7H.dpuf ]

Australia, what could be the possible changes in view of above ? Surely not just Lyon again !

I think India might drop anyone among Bhajji/Jadeja to bring in Ojha, from Australian side we are likely to see Maxwell making his Test debut .

any possible changes in squad? I hope they would kick Vijay and herby out

Vijay = Tamil + CSK player

Srinivasan will not allow him to be dropped. He has never looked that good from what little I have seen when he plays for India. The only reason I can see for him to be picked is because of Srinivasan.

India will play the same team. Bhajji will be in because of political pressure/no. left handers in the aussie team.

I would play ojha in place of ishant and keep Kumar as the lone seamer.
I would play rahane instead of harby,we don't need 5 bowlers ojha, ashwin, jadeja and Kumar are enough to do the job.and replace vijay with dhawan

Vijay and Jadeja  out
Rahane and Ojha in. Ashwin and Bhajji together is a better bat than Jadeja

for India Dhawan for Vijay and Ojha for Bhajji. As Dhawan know the pitch well as he had play lots of IPL there.
For Aus i think steven smith should be there instead of starc and if Pattinson doesn't play then MJ. Also they can try other batman instead of Hughes..

personally, i want to see Harby out but think he will get another shot & we will play a unchanged 11.

For Aussies,i would like following changes : Doherty for Lyon & Maxwell in place of Hughes.... perhaps Mitchell for Siddle too :)

Re: 2nd Test: India v Australia at Hyderabad (Deccan)

Jadeja is a good bowler in SC. Keeps the rate in control and picks wickets from time to time. Scores runs too. Bhaj's shot to get out was

Unchange team. If it doesn't happen, i won't post in pp for a week. Mark my word.

marked and remember you said only unchanged team, no extra conditions.

Like it or not, the squad selected will play the first two tests with a fresh selection for the last two, so Vijay will be there on his last and final chance at test cricket. Even then, this is my fantasy side:

Rahane
Dhawan
Pujara
Tendulkar
Kohli
Sehwag
Dhoni
Ashwin
Ishant
Kumar
Ojha

But we all know that they're going to roll this one out:

Vijay
Sehwag
Pujara
Tendulkar
Kohli
Dhoni
Jadeja
Ashwin
Kumar
Ishant
Ojha

India will most likely field the same team while Australia may go in with Doherty for Starc, I'm quite sure they won't drop Siddle, Phil Jacques will play.

The pitch here at Hyderabad will assist spin but sure not as much as the one in Chennai did, I'm absolutely sure about that.

The guy who was opening bat when we played them at our WACA victory in 2008? :p

Harby will play... I dont know what will it take for him to realize he isnt fit for the team.....
But one among Sehwag/Murali may be dropped :L

Will be even MORE pathetic call if Ojha doesn't play at his home ground. Ojha is our best bowler right now, he should be the first player on the team sheet.

Pathetic sentimental love going on for Bhajji! I would play Ojha for Bhajji but don't mind playing with only one seamer now, so play Ojha for Ishant.

Well if selectors continue with same team, I am sure aussie will beat us with allmost same team. We were lucky that Dhoni managed a tests double. Its not gonna happen again

India has found a settled combination - according to M S Dhoni...

Don't know to what depths they are sinking Indian cricket into!

Vijay and Jadeja  out
Rahane and Ojha in. Ashwin and Bhajji together is a better bat than Jadeja

jadeja bowled much better than bhajji in first test and plus he s a decent fielder and batsman..he will retain his place imo

Yep, skipper's favourite Jadeja ain't going anywhere, he'll stay right through the duration of the series.

MS Dhoni has said India have found a "settled batting and bowling combination" for the remaining three Tests in the series against Australia. It is every indicator that India will go ahead with playing five bowlers, including Ravindra Jadeja as the third spinner, for the remainder of the Test series.

Man he should be axed from test captaincy.
We are in a way lucky that Aussies havent got a potent spinner. But, a little more spine by same Aussie batsmen and Indian bowling will not be able to get them out....

What does "settled" combination mean? Are we going to play Jadeja at #7 for the next eight years home and away?

He also said that at the end of the England ODI series. LOL, does that mean Rohit Sharma opens in the Champions Trophy, say?

Dhoni deserves the sack as of yesterday.

Agree. But Rohit opening is a mouth watering prospect (for opposition bowlers as well)

Brothers & Sisters..Have booked my tickets for Monday(Day 3)....Ground Floor one in the Pavilion area..so very excited...
Hope that I witness a critical period of play; especially Indian Batting...

About the changes, only change I expect is that of Ojha Replacing Bhajji..
We can afford to give Vijay one more chance...

Realistically speaking, the only likely change I see is that of Ojha replacing Bhuvi...or an unchanged side if the pitch is less spin friendlier than the Chepauk...

Security is very very tight here...
Also, the Team India hotel is 1 KM from my house :)

^Remember to boo Jadeja every time he comes on to bowl. That's what we did at Chennai. :)

have fun bro & do post pics :)

Too much Security yaar..

They won't be allowing any cell phones or even banners inside...
I am planning for taking in the blank sheets so,,that I will write some thing during the day..

Lets see how much I can manage...

One things for sure,, I will be booing Bhajji...Am fed up with him...
Cheers..

Tbh jadeja is the least of our problems, the way ishant and bhajji are bowling they deserve the axe.
Jadeja in Indian conditions will merit a place on his bowling alone(currently in Indian conditions)
We have other problems

Watto's lucky he says he can bowl because otherwise I'd drop him for Smith- who is a pure batsman.

I'd also drop siddle and starc for maxwell/doherty and johnson.

Well Starc has to go for a spinner, thats a given.

Question is Siddle for MJ, hmmm. I am a fan of the great man but he was rubbish in the first Test and playing in India means unorthodox teams for us, so leaning to MJ.

And I am offline for a couple of weeks, will be following the score but not posting. Drinking cocktails by a pool somewhere in the sun :)

Siddle has been the workhorse for two years now. Dropping him on the basis of one poor game is silly. Cowan needs to be dropped, and poor Lyon needs some spin support at the other end. This is the team that could work:

Warner
Watson
Khawaja
Clarke
Hughes
Henriques
Wade
Siddle
Pattinson
Doherty
Lyon

And Pakistani members keep mentioning that Kamran Akmal finished the career of their then spinner Danish Kaneria by dropping a bucketload of catches. Well, Wade is administrating the same treatment to Lyon.

Hyderabad pitch is expected to be another sand pit Ozs are warned to be careful with deadly snakes underneath the sand pit :msd

For Australia my xi would be
Warner
Cowan
Watson
Clarke
Henriques
Maxwell
Wade
Pattinson
Johnson
Lyon
Doherty

Australia might named an
unchanged XI for the 2nd Test

Australia's captain Michael Clarke
believes the pitch for the second Test in
Hyderabad will offer more for his fast
bowlers than the surface in Chennai,
which could lead to Australia naming an
unchanged side. The selectors won't
finalise their line-up until having seen the
pitch again during Australia's training
session on Friday, leaving room for the
slim possibility of including a second
spinner, after India's slow bowlers took 20
wickets in the first Test.
But Australia are believed to be leaning
towards an unchanged line-up, trusting
that the XI from Chennai - including eight
men who were playing Test cricket in
India for the first time - have learnt from
the experience. That would mean leaving
left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty on the
sidelines once again, and giving Mitchell
Starc a second chance after he struggled
to have any impact on the unhelpful
surface in the first Test.
"I'm hoping there will be a bit more pace
in this wicket because it's a bit harder
surface," Clarke said in Hyderabad on
Friday. "I don't think this wicket will be
any tougher than Chennai. That was a
really tough wicket, so I think we have
seen the toughest of conditions.
"The wicket will certainly deteriorate as
the Test goes on, so it's a positive for our
fast bowlers that it will be a little bit up
and down. But spin from day one will play
a huge part in this Test. I'd be very
surprised if India played any less spin, put
it that way. Looking at it yesterday, it
looked like a day three or day four pitch."
Two days out from the match, there were
already a few cracks developing but the
surface did not have the clay-like
appearance of the Chennai pitch. The
harder surface should give a little more
encouragement to Starc, Peter Siddle and
James Pattinson, although Clarke said
Starc and Siddle would still need to learn
from the way that Pattinson used speed
through the air as his major weapon
rather than relying on assistance from the
pitch.
"You have to hit the wicket really hard
here," Clarke said. "If you just put the
ball there you get nothing out of the
conditions, even if the ball is reverse
swinging. In Chennai it was really hard to
be caught behind the wicket once the ball
was 10-15 overs old, so we needed to use
our speed through the air. I think Patto
did that really well - he ran in hard, hit
the wicket really hard and he got more
out of the pitch, and more out of the ball
than Sidds and Starcy. We've certainly
spoken about that."
Siddle and Starc are not the only
members of the attack who will need to
rethink their strategy after struggling in
Chennai. Nathan Lyon leaked far too
many runs in the first Test and will need
to find a way to keep things tighter in
Hyderabad, regardless of whether he is
the sole spinner or one of a two-man spin
unit alongside Xavier Doherty. Clarke said
Lyon had shown some encouraging signs
towards the end of the Chennai Test.
"On grounds in India it's very easy to go
for a lot more runs because they're
smaller and have fast outfields," Clarke
said. "I thought Lyno showed his
character in the second innings. I wish we
had 150-200 runs on the board because
then he would have had the opportunity
to bowl in inconsistent spin, pace and
bounce on a day-five wicket that I know
he would have loved. He's been fine
[since the Test]. He's working hard every
day to try and get better.
"I think it's important for all of us as a
team to stay positive and confident. We
saw what happened with England over
here. For a lot of the guys, it was their
first Test match in India and those
conditions are as tough as they are going
to be for a fast-bowling unit and the
batsmen. I think there are a lot of
positives we've got to take out of the
game, we've looked at areas we need to
improve and a lot of that is about
patience with both bat and ball."
Although the likelihood is that Lyon will
again be the only spinner chosen, Clarke
said he was confident that Doherty would
offer plenty to the team if he was added
to the XI. Doherty's first-class figures of
122 wickets at 44.56 do not make for
encouraging reading, nor does the fact
that he has managed only two wickets at
80 this Sheffield Shield season. But Clarke
said it was unfair to extrapolate how
Doherty might fare in India from how he
bowls at home.
"He's bowling at Bellerive (Bellerive Oval,
Hobart)," Clarke said. "I think that's a
little bit different to Chennai or
Chandigarh. I think if you have a look at
fast bowling in Australia compared to spin
bowling, because of our conditons in
first-class cricket, fast bowling will always
outweigh spin bowling. I'm surprised a
spinner gets a b
the game is nearly over in two-and-a-half
days. I don't think it would be fair on any
of our spinners to compare their statistics
in Australia to how important their impact
could be in the sub-continent."

from cricinfo' preview : India: (probable) 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 M Vijay, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 Virat Kohli, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 8 R Ashwin, 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 and 11 Bhuvneshwar Kumar/ Ishant Sharma/Pragyan Ojha

Unlike Chennai, where Australia confidently announced their XI well before the match, they have yet to name their team for Hyderabad. The batting is unlikely to change, unless David Warner fails to recover from his bout of gastro and keeper Matthew Wade (who was hit on the cheek during Friday's practice session) is forced to sit out*. If Wade does miss out, Phillip Hughes is likely to take over wicketkeeping duties with batsman Usman Khawaja slotting in.

Australia: 1 David Warner, 2 Ed Cowan, 3 Phillip Hughes, 4 Shane Watson, 5 Michael Clarke (capt), 6 Matthew Wade (wk)/Usman Khawaja, 7 Moises Henriques, 8 Peter Siddle, 9 Mitchell Starc/Mitchell Johnson/Xavier Doherty, 10 James Pattinson, 11 Nathan Lyon

Pitch and conditions
It will be hotter in Hyderabad than in Chennai, with the temperature predicted to be around 35C in the afternoons. There is no rain forecast over the next week. The pitch is expected to provide help for the spinners, though it should have more in it for the quick bowlers than the turner in Chennai as it is a harder surface. - [See more at: http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v...urrent/story/622969.html#sthash.UCuUaB2j.dpuf ]

hope india go with this xi

sehwag
dhawan
pujara
tendulkar
rahane
kohli
dhoni
jadeja
ashwin
bk
ojha

I hope Wade misses and Smith comes in

Really poor line up from the aussies. Maxwell in for Starc...

They need to change their batting line up, you can start the innings with 3 left handers against two off spinners.

Should be:

Warner
Watson
Cowan
Clarke
Hughes
Wade
Henriques
Maxwell
Pattinson
Sidle
Doherty

I have a feeling Australia will win this test. But I got 20 bucks on India, so hope not :(

How is dropping Starc a bad thing?

He's not ready for test cricket.

Australia will not win it. You can't win a Test match if your 4th bowler is Maxwell...
A poor off spinner against an all right handed batting line up.
Waiting to see the pitch, but I sense a draw.

I picked India because Bets are heavily in favor of India, but I lost 100 bucks during the Eng vs India series betting on India :yk

Aus attack is too one dimensional, if the pitch fails to assist pacers, they might be in big trouble.

this is pathetic.what the hell does Ishant still do to be in the team?Ojha ignored on his home ground:69:

I bet Ozs will turn it around but dropping Starc is stupid thing as this pitch is lot harder than sand pit :msd

Australia have strengthened their batting but their bowling looks weak. Australia needs to put a big score in first innings and hope that their bowlers restrict India. If Australia doesn't gets a good 1st innings score i am afraid they will loose this match.

Those cracks will help seamers, Ishant yaar last chance hai tera! Kuch toh karle aaj!

Have a pleasent stay:yk

What a ball from Kumar to Warner. The same ball Nasir got in one of those T20s. Inside edges and loses his leg stump.

Some crazy averages there, moises 149 and Pattinson 89, bradman who:yk

:four shot from Cowan..

this looks another turner..would be tough for Aussies once again..
