What's new

India v England | 1st Test | Rajkot | Nov 9-13, 2016 | Day 2

Shoddy approach by Indians so it can spill over to batting.

I remember you saying you were gonna watch this series to see Ashwin bowl. Haha.....must have terribly disappointed you.

Fortunately for Ashwin, while I had the cricket on last night most of my attention was devoted to the election coverage so I don't feel comfortable in saying that I was right about him all along :))

Another drop, unbelievable. Can't point to the scorecard and call this pitch a phatta when a dozen catches have gone begging, England won't be so generous.

pretty shocking crowd btw. almost lankan test attendance like.

Magnificent shot over cover. Kohli has been awful today. Bowl Ashwin and Jadeja

India must lose this game just for the pathetic fielding and catching.

England should have been 8 or 9 down by now.

Pakistani fans are too harsh on Yasir sometimes on worse pitches. Look at how Mishra is bowling right now

Now I know what it feels like to be a Pakistan fan.

Do we have nobody better than Saha from the domestic circuit?

How about the test you lost recently against - wait for it - the West Indies!!

Don't really care about that loss. We were complacent. Simple as that. Not worried about skills of our players. That loss would've probably been a good learning experience. Rest assured these guys aren't gonna take anyone lightly anytime soon.

Terrific batting. Punishing all the filth and safe to say, there has been a lot of it.

Watching Bairstow and Stokes batting, knowing Woakes, Ansari, Rashid and Broad to come..

What do you think England will make/declare on?

I am banking on 550 First innings lead, Stokes to make 100.. seeing it like a volleyball at the moment, bowlers morale is down from fielding mistakes and captain is panicking.

So will you now finally sympathize with Amir and the plethora of dropped catches off his bowling?

No. That guy is overrated, dropped catches or not. He's hyped to the moon like the next Dale Steyn/Wasim Akram but he'd do well to be even half as good as them.

'Mustafiz, rabada and starc is nothing to him' type stuff, right??

HitWicket you watching? If you're asleep you're in for a pleasant surprise when you wake up

Seems like you've got a problem with the over-hyping of Amir, and not Amir, the bowler, himself.

This is what test cricket is all about.

Disproportionate results when you win important moments.

Kohli screwed up in captaincy, fielding drops and now they are looking to "slog" (yes slog) Jaddu.

Would they have tried this at the start of the day?

Feel for Malcolm Yadav (& Shami):sree

Bowling their hearts out on a complete patta and these chokers are dropping dollies after dollies. You can't do anything more than creating chances. The rot started with Rahane's drop of Cook in the very first over which brought the bad memories of Rose bowl flooding back..

And Mishra is bowling like he is on 0.25x speed. No energy, no use of the body..

You know there is something wrong when you're getting outbowled by Ranji bowlers. Kuldeep must be given a chance in the series.

In comes Woakes, backing him to score another 50. Really rate his batting, i wish Pakistan had a chris woakes :(

The sun never sets on the British Empire. The Raj returns to conquer India once again.

India have developed an inferiority complex against the colonial masters. On the contrary, we have managed to break the shackles.

I think this match is clear indication that some of India's vital players lack match fitness. Saha and Mishra being prime examples.

I don't think you guys ever had an inferiority complex against the English. Yeah you lost in the last decade in England but that English team was strong in its home but guys beat them comfortably in 2012 when they were at their peak. It is the Aussies against which Pakistan had a mental block for a very long time which was shattered in 2014.

May be we also :) alas India still not :)

England 447-6 (122)
Ben Stokes not out 82
Chris Woakes not out 4

Stokes is the English Anwar Ali according to Hawkeye. :23:

Dream start for England. There's enough in the pitch for the seamers so I won't be surprised if India get rolled over for under 250. Plus India are a batsman short and Gambhir is a walking wicket at the top.

Kohli missed a trick by not referring those drops and claiming that Saha had control of the ball.

Ball is reversing quickly now. Some help for pacers. Too bad England already have more than enough in the bank.
Too little too late for India even if they bundle out England here. Shami is getting nice reverse swing.

When you drop so many catches it affects everyone.

Add to that bad bowling and our batsmen would walk out with very low morale.

Yes...England's chances of wining are super high.

Need a super human performance to escape defeat here.

2 boundaries....

Kohli deserves it.

What a lulloo captaincy today.

Get your best spinners on.

Really disappointed with him today.Proving he's not worth the hype as captain yet. Most of the hype is because Dhoni was bad :))

Mishra's Test career should be over.Need to try Chahal/Kuldeep

Jaddu bowled only one over

Hopefully will draw this, but its England :(

Here's an ominous stat from Hamid: "England have never lost a test match against India after scoring 450 runs. Today is the 34th time they did so, won 18 of them"

It keeps piling on. :)))

Kohli when he is good....is incredible. When he is bad, sinks to low depths.

Just like Ashwin I guess. :))

Shocking captaincy really.

Jaddu should have bowled earlier. He was our BEST BET to keep things tight earlier in the day. Ash was getting the ball to turn (albeit of very slow deliveries) and was looking to get in the groove and was troubling Stokes a bit who is now on 84.

But they rarely bowled while Mishra got infinite overs.

Utter filth he bowled. Only good for absolute turners.

I would still back Kohli's captaincy.

I rate it BIG TIME and one odd test ain't gonna change that.

But man....was he bad today.

Apparently I've been only following the game via Cricinfo and Social Media..... Gotta say England are in a very strong position with the centuries of Root and Moeen.

But this is India and Kohli is captaining so I am pretty sure they will come back and win this game comfortably come day 5.

Everything is now in favor of England. Their bowling now can damage a lot of ind line up. Oh God. Thanks to ind FIELDING. It seems Eng is playing at home and ind visiting :-/

What says he isn't? I refer to his bowling, which is Anwar Ali-esque.

Woakes can bowl, that's why I like him.

Lol stop jinxing us like you did the bangla brothers.:shakib

Would be fantastic if Moeen gets it right and rolls India for under 200.
