Kohli needs another 1-2 years in domestic , though looks a good prospect ..plays too many shots for now to be in test team for my liking ..hes only 19 though !

Vijay & Pujara are my picks for no3 slot ....Pujara has easily teh best techniqe of the lot from what I have seen !

IMO, the real batsmen are badrinath, pujara, and Rahane. See how many runs they have made so far. They all have the ability to play long innings which kohli, uthappam, or sharma dont.

disagree ...Rahane is crap , a very limited player who will be found out against quality bowlers ..Uthappa is more of a ODI player !
 
Or what about Raina cant he be at nummber 3 because he is batting at 3 in odis?
 
There was a time i would have a steady heart while watching Dravid. Now every ball is a thriller.
 
Lol, they showed a video of early morning where Bumble was on the ground and a security dog jumped on him.
 
I think chances will be given in the order Badrinath, Rohit, Vijay, Raina, Pujara. Don't know what the hell happened to Tiwary and Dhawan. They were promising sometime back.

he does , but tests are different ..i think even for his state side he plays at 4 ....the way i see it , he will eventually bcom our teams most important player ..no point exposing him early at no3 ..& ideally you need a steady player at that position !
 
Last 10 tests avge 19!! Dravid!! Botham says it is alright to have that kind of form! What Botham misses is the 10 tests bfore that lol
 
Someone should post the score occasionally even though Dravid is batting

1/15 after 11 overs, they have learnt from the English openers it seems

Credit to England. They are bowling well.
 
Gambhir is justifiably circumspect. Because Dravid is a walking wicket. If he gets out chances are Dravid will walk with him very soon. This is the problem of playing with an out of form player.
 
Gamby needs to run down the pitch and deliver his shoulder charge move.....get himself fired up

out of the Two numbers, 2nd number is what Dravid concentrating on. Would be nice if someone swaps balls with score. That would make him a phenomenally aggressive cricketer of all time.

But if his first number is smaller and second number really big and if he falls somehow no matter how settled he is on the crease, that is what selectors car first number
 
When in form Dravid would have sent that ball screaming towards mid wicket. He is not even scoring runs off his pads disappointing.

Sehwag's wicket was not due to the condition guys. It is not that difficult to bat out there. He made 35 & 90 on this very ground against Australia. Broad bowled a good one. As simple as that.

He isn't a technical guy, simple hand-eye coordination is his key.
 
^^ I've always maintained that he is the best batsman in the world given that he is on song and most importantly when he is batting on a flat track.

Well seemingly he has been doing impossible things this year. 201 in SL where rest of the players struggled to pick Mendis both off the hand and off the pitch. So people will take a few failures. We cannot automatically say "pitch is helpful" whenever Sehwag fails.

In other words, flat tracks are made for Sehwag, thats why he is really good, btw he was really near :moyo calendar run record but now it seems a bit impossible

Go back to 2004/05 test match against Pakistan. As long as Sehwag was there pitch appeared to be flat. Once he was run out look how Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid all scratched around and doomed next day. Sehwag makes the batting look easy should not let you conclude that pitch is flat.
 
^^Because he puts pressure on the bowlers but as he falls bowlers gain confidence and bowls better against new batsmen

pitch is always looks flat when shewag is batting ...we saw that just recently in SL !

Was the same in Adelaide Test this year in the second innings. Mark Taylor's comment was "what the scoreboard shows you is that this is a difficult pitch to bat on...unless you are Virender Sehwag"

India would be happy to lose only the one wicket in that session, conditions were to England's liking.
 
As much as we make fun of Dravid, one has to feel sorry for this guy. He stepped down from captaincy to concentrate on batting . Ironically his batting took a deep plunge after he gave up his captaincy. It has been free fall since.

It is a pity because he will not be remembered as the giant of the game that he was. Average is around 52 now, it used to be nearly 60.

Fact is Broad bowled well. Gotta give credit where it is due. He hit the perfect spot. It move just enough to kiss the edge. Slightly exaggerated movement would have missed the edge. One thing is weather is very much like English weather. There is no home crowd. It was almost like a county match.
 
It looks as if nearly all the England fans who were going to be in Mumbai (where this Test was originally going to be) have either cancelled their trip completely or headed down to Goa for a week on the beach instead. There were still plenty going when it was announced that the second Test was going to be in Chennai (which has direct flights to Mumbai), but most had flights home departing Mumbai in the early hours of the morning of the 24th, and it's not possible to get back from Chandigarh in time to catch these flights without missing a big chunk of the final day's play.

In 2006, there were 6,000 English in Mumbai. Even though fewer were expected this time anyway, I'd be surprised if there's even 200 here, and all the faces I've recognised so far have made their way up from Chennai.

It's very sad to see Test cricket played in empty grounds, but unfortunately for political reasons the BCCI would rather play in places like Mohali and Ahmedabad where Test cricket is poorly supported, than at Eden Gardens where there would have been a good crowd and a great atmosphere. Still, if thay had played one of the Tests in Kolkata, I'd have been doubly upset at having had to miss out on this tour.

Sad thing is Mohali is possibly the best ground in terms of facilities. Sadly crowd is not turning up. As Athers pointed out they didn't show up for IPL as well. It is also a decent bouncy pitch.
So it is sad that they are not able to attract crowd. India won the Test against Australia. Yet there were no show ups. It was heartening to see 40,000 chennai crowd.
 
And also India should have some traditions like Australia has boxing Test. Chennai always used to have a Test during Pongal (Jan 14th every year). Somehow they killed that tradition.
There would be 50,000 attendance every day.

Yes, I've been there a couple of times, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the ground, although a little bit concrete bowl-like for my tastes. My friend who was there for the Australia series a few weeks ago told me that the only tickets available were 5 day passes and you couldn't even buy them from the ground. The place you had to go to buy them was 5 km away!
 
There is threat of shower. Late start. All in all , England doesn't have much time left in the match to equal the series. But conditions are better suited to them.
