What's new

India v England | 2nd Test | Visakhapatnam | Nov 17-21, 2016 | Day 2

Why the turning tracks are called 'tailor made pitch' why not green bouncy pitch are called so?

Ans: Because it needs scissors ✂ to make turning pitch :D:D:D

Some bad batting by England today. Cook got out to a good ball. I am surprised by how quick the Indian opening bowlers have got.

England have too many left-handers. Five out of the top six. I would drop Root to #4 to break up the leftiness a bit.

Awful performance by England today. And a good one by India.

Hopefully we follow on and win.

Very disappointed with Eng first innings. Very unlikely to draw. Ind win is in sight if not Eng can do something dramatic.let us see.would be interesting if eng can hold back.

That's great to hear. Spin vs spin. Batting First would be advantage. Let's see how much interesting Bangladesh can make it by fighting else would be one sided win by Ind.

Bangladesh is developing into a good side.

They will fight hard.

Mustafiz and Taskin back in would make them dangerous.

Looking forward to that clash.

I don't think taskin or mustafiz can be good in test. Mustafiz need many things to be good in test. Taskin can't be. Shahid could be better as test bowler. He is the unluckiest bowler of cricket. He is much better than his stats suggest. Fielders always somehow drop his catches at least 5times in every match. We need new talented seamers for test to be real threat in test cricket alongside shahid and other sppinners. Though our batting has becomes great with the inclusion of mosaddek and miraz. Would be great batting side.we need another two class pacer. Hope ebadat will fill one spot soon.

Mustafiz if he is fit will really trouble Indians in spin tracks.

The cutters he bowls will be dangerous.

I think Shakib is a very good spinner and while I want Mehdi to do well too....I am not sure he imparts enough energy while delivering the ball to be good on normal spin tracks.

Yeah...that Shahid guy was decent based on what I saw of him.

You guys need to bring in Mustafiz. He is your secret weapon.

I don't know if it's just me but I still don't find the wicket all that difficult. Yeah the odd one is staying low but there isn't really any consistent sharp turn. I thought England simply batted poorly under scoreboard pressure on a slow wicket.

On hindsight, England would be kicking themselves for having let the first chance at Rajkot go begging. It was a very flat track and the best welcome they could've dreamt of on the tour of India. India were dropping catches like anything and England put a 550 score on the board in the first innings. It's the standard formula by which all asian teams operate - win the toss, put on a mammoth first innings score, choke the opposition under scoreboard pressure, get a lead, have a quickfire 2nd innings, set an unrealistic target, repeat what you did on the first innings with helpful conditions on the last day. England were sort of happy with a draw in the first match when they should have been ruthless. I have a feeling India would've pushed for victory at Rajkot had they won the toss.

Anyway, all that's done and dusted and the English face an uphill battle here. It's a slow wicket but still not a difficult one and you can score runs once you get used to the slowness of the wicket. However that first innings lead of India will be breathing down the necks of the English batsmen and will probably induce them to make mistakes. Time for Stokes and Bairstow to stand up and defy the odds.

Yeah...the wicket isn't hard to bat. I mean not 100/5 hard.

England made a utter mess.

Scoreboard pressure plus a bit of tight spin bowling.

Miraz did well in South Africa in under 19. Hopefull about him. His batting is also very good than shakib.hope he will do better.
Mustafiz can be good but need many things I said. Muscle and stamina first :D

England are 90/5 on a wicket which is more similar to the ones we had... unlike England, we didn't have a series in Bangladesh to get use to pitches which significantly assist spinners..

Imo this wicket is easier than the ones NZ received. Forget Kolkata which was a seamer friendly wicket. But Mohali had sharp turn everytime the ball got old and the innings went past the 40-45 over mark. Indore was a patta for first 2 days with slow turn, but started turning more as days progressed but you could still make runs on that if you were a good spin player.

In this series, all I'm seeing is slow turn and low bounce but none of the sharp turn in the last series.

Mehdi is just 19.

At 19, most spinners are pure rubbish. So he is far ahead of the curve compared to others and will develop over the years.

Spinners reach their peak around 30.

It's just a single test dude, chill. You never know BCCI might cancel that and arrange a 3 match ODI series @ the last minute :srini

Quite surprising that you haven't toured us for 16 years.

Overall we need more matches against top sides than we get for the experience of our new comers and to do well as a team.

Problem with this wicket is it's a slow one. Slower than the one at Rajkot and hence you saw a few leading edges on the flick from Kohli and Cook. It's imperative to get used to the slowness of the wicket when you get set in. This is a pitch where it's difficult for the batsmen first up but when you get in, you can make runs because there are not many demons in the pitch. You only have to be wary of the low bounce here.

Almost all Indian batsmen failed except Kohli, Pujara, Ashwin and Jayant. Rahane was struggling with the slowness of the wicket yesterday, he likes pace on the ball and is a touch player and Saha had no clue. The English batsmen are probably batting like at Rajkot but this one is much slower, so the timing gets difficult. It's the kind of pitch Azhar Ali and Younis Khan would make runs for fun.

It's very important for Stokes and Bairstow to get used to the slowness of the wicket tomorrow and hope the wicket doesn't deteriorate drastically (it hasn't from whatever I've seen).

It's understandable why not happened. Money and battle cannot be get against any minnow. But from now on if not happen it will be disgrace as I hope bd is getting better than minnow in test.

Mamoon who's going to save the queen when Rabada and co. come knocking? :)

I think you should be more worried about where NZ is heading. :yk3

England will find a way. Rabada's 12 wickets in a match couldn't save South Africa from losing to England at home.

The Indians definitely have their tails up now. There is already a talk of " to enforce Follow On " or not ??? Little too early for that. But the fans are all worked up. Having lost 5 wkts., England are looking for these two to stay at the wicket .... won't happen. Indians are just too cagey for that. I am sure when the match resumes tomorrow.... the farthest person on the field from the batsman, is going to be the Leg Umpire !!! Test Match Cricket .... at it's very Best !!!!

Quality performance by India..

Completely all over England in this match..

India's current best test cricketer Ashwin and other support bowlers must be looking to run through the lower order early in the morning.

India should bat again and score 250 and declare it leaving England to chase close to 500.

Game over for England. Very disappointing especially after the grit they showed at Rajkot. They needed to achieve parity or at least get to 400 somehow.

England are becoming the new Pakistan in terms of its mercurialness. Two steps forward, ome step backward.

England will be bowled out for 160 tomorrow and then following on will be end on 150 for 6 by the end of tomorrow.

ENG will score 250+ if these 2 stick around. So, they will avoid follow on. We need to score 225 in 3rd innings to set a target of 400 for ENG.
