India v New Zealand | 2nd Test | Sep 30-Oct 4, 2016 | Day 3

Anyways back to the topic....we have a long way to go in batting. Not really happy with the way we are performing with the bat.

Of course....none was a certain win.

India wins 3-0 against SA but the game where we were on top the most wasn't a certain win.

Game against Bangladesh wasn't a certain win when we had enforced follow on.

Game against WI wasn't possible win when we won 2-0 out of 3 prior tests.

I am sure Zak Fan is the deluded one here. :srini

"Possible win" is very different from a certain win .
Even a 100 run lead can result in defeat .

That's why I said WI was a possible win. It could be draw too like the 2nd test.

But Bangladesh and SA games (which is what lost us points) were certain wins by any reasonable estimate.

SA were 214 all out and we were 80/0 before rain struck (more so considering the way the series had gone).
Bangladesh were asked to follow on.

I am sure teams have been 80-0 or 80-1 in reply to a score of around 200 odd and gone on to lose the game .
Hardly a certain win . Glad you accept that the westindies game wasnt a certain win . As thats what mainly affected the bid to become number 1 .

Rain interrupted both these matches against newzealand .
Yet india did the job .
So do you think its fair to blame a rain delay for getting 2 wickets on the final day ??

India lost nearly 100 overs in that match. 100 overs haven't been lost combined in both these matches.

Not when a team loses 3-0 in a series otherwise.

And I guess Bangladesh would have miraculously survived that test which was not a landmine but was no super patta either.

Problem is you expect others to understand context but you are not willing to do so for even the most blatant of cases.

Anyways.....India has its flaws and its strengths....this home season will be interesting.

Saha must be the one involved in so many partnerships offlate and always the other ones score higher than him.

Hate the way he gets out anyhow good innings and secured a place,Dhawan is probably out.

Well played Rohit.

This was a genuinely good knock.

Might seem selfish but I am glad Rohit didn't score a century.

Rohit Sharma in Eden Gardens - 87 average
Rohit Sharma not in Eden Gardens - 27 average

That's why. :srini

i like him. he is an old fashioned gritty wk batsman. doesn't have dhoni's talent or charisma but gets the job done.

He is one of those old fashioned wicketkeepers you found in the past who used to be selected for their glove work mainly. But he has been improving with the bat lately big time. Averages 56 with the bat in this year.

Saha has proven to be a game changer in both the games at crucial moments , very happy with his performance with the bat :D

If the pitch is uneven and bowling is good, tail can be out in 15 minutes. Miguel Cummins did that in WI.
However if this is just a passing phase and if these 2 play out a tough 10-15 overs, then yeah....tail will wag.

300 lead is impossible now.
250+ is enough I guess.

everything looks difficult now on this pitch....

300 lead is impossible now.
250+ is enough I guess.

If someone can add a quick fire 30-40 odd, that would help us towards the total of 300. Anything above 275 should be sufficient, but 300 would add to the psychological pressure.

Keep calm, have faith in the Indian tail and carry on :)
