It is going to be a competitive series, both team are in transition

I expect India to win this test match and Sachin to be the Man of the Match[rough guess]

India vs Australia l 1st Test l Chennai l 22/02/13 l Day 1

India are slight favourites due to home conditions but will be an interesting series nevertheless

*Pessimistic mode* Expect Aus to win toss and Watson thrash our bowlers. Aus to end day on 340-3.

Quit being sooooo modest... you guys won three consecutive tests only 3 tests ago! You are winning this series 4-0.

You're desperate to see Indians gloat, so that you can bring them back to earth by posting stats (read 8-0). :msd

OMG.... you guys are soooooooo sensitive!!!! Just because I caught his blatant lies??? :)))

As far as gloating is concerned, if you did not have stuff to glaot.............. you guys wouldn't be here with thousands of gloats..... I mean posts! ;-)

Aus will be the definite underdogs going into this. Even if India plays half decent cricket they should be able to come away with a comfortable win. By far the weakest Aus Test outfit ever assembled as long as I've been following cricket. Hoping for a good game of cricket though.

Let's go.. !

Nevermind, I have no allegiance or liking to either team. I hope they figure out a way to both lose.

Can't say I expect it to be a good show either.

Apart from the result and the occasional spells of bowling / KP batting, our series was boring.

Quite surprised that no Pakistani has started a thread about the Hyderabad blasts.

dont be too sure.

if Aus post a good total in 1st innings- Indian batting is known to collapse!

lol at "Blatant " lies..!!

What lie did I tell there??.....I said I am sick of loosing...it may be last test or last 100 tests...you do not know if it is lie....

anyway...we have lost every major test series..aus/eng away..and to eng at home...hence sick of loosing!!!

Might add it is a fair insult to Indian phast bowlers that Warner is going to bat with a thumb splint.

He wouldnt do that against a side with fast bowlers :))

Here we go, CricIndia commentary - Harbajan, Harbajan, Rahul Dravid all mentioned in the first two paragraphs

In a way it's a good I won't have to watch this performance on TV or listen on the radio.

Australia batting first, my fear is coming true. Expecting Watson to be all over our spinners.

Don't think India will do too well if this is a square turner, it will be a minefield by the fourth day.

Aus batting first

MSD special first up,Ojha not playing:po:

Can you post both teams? Need to update my Fantasy team... and I had Ojha.

Can I swear mods please once?

Why no Ojha!!!!???

I know.. the feeling. I felt the same way when Irfan was not played in the first test and Rehman was not played in the 2nd test.

I had Ojha in my Fantasy team!

lol why isn't ojha playing? what's the point of having ashwin after his repeated failures..Chennai lobby I see

Looks like a rank turner as they all call, this is very dry pitch.

Surprised why Dhoni left Ojha out?

Retarded call to allow Bhaji get his 100th test, he could hv gotten that in Mohali. Why would someone drop their best spinner?

Excellent we are batting. Means we get to see both teams bat today.

did india seriously leave out their best spinner?

Anyway what's done is done. Excited for Bhuvi! Can't wait to see him bowl.

Only logical explanation I can see is that they were going to Sir J.... and they did not want two lefties! They would rather have two offies.

So what are the teams? :(

Hey....except last series...I think We have been the only team to do well against Aus since the turn of the millenium...Drew in 2004 in aus....2-1 in Aus...but that was a hard fought series.....and we did good at home too..winning 2008....

And 2010 you won. That was pretty close actually.

Tactical move - last time we played 3 spinners, our attack looked imbalanced. And with so many lefties playing they probably thought Harbhajan is a better option than Ojha. Moreover we already have Jadeja as a left arm spin option + Harbhajan adds value to lower order with his batting ability.

India team
V Sehwag, M Vijay, CA Pujara, SR Tendulkar, V Kohli, RA Jadeja, MS Dhoni*†, R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, B Kumar, I Sharma

Australia team
DA Warner, EJM Cowan, PJ Hughes, SR Watson, MJ Clarke*, MS Wade†, MC Henriques, PM Siddle, MA Starc, JL Pattinson, NM Lyon

Australia

1. Warner
2. Cowan
3. Hughes
4. Watson
5. Clarke*
6. Wade+
7. Henriques
8. Siddle
9. Starc
10. Pattinson
11. Lyon

12. Maxwell

Strong lower order

^^Well yes but Australia playing 4 lefties in top 6 doesn't warrant place for 2 left arm spinners. And honestly RJ didn't do too bad vs England on a dead pitch. With more help expected from this pitch he'll probably do better.

+ ve for dropping Ojha: our batting is deep, two offie against aussy's 5 lefty + an all rounder.

- ve for dropping Ojha: losing best wicket taking option.

If 5 bowlers manage to get 20 wickets, we won't miss Ojha. Big pressure on Bhaji and Ashwin.

Can't be stronger than India's .... Harbhajan with two test 100s will be batting at #9!

You don't need good spinners to destroy Australia

Ishant should hv been dropped.your positives would have been same

SLA can get lefties out too.

Cowan averages 32? Thought he'd be around 40's with the way he's always talking himself up in media for the opening spot.

Is Adrian Anderson seriously Australia's new integrity officer?

Well no help for seamers and bounce just about right for batsman to make runs all day with ease. Worrying signs already

Ojha is India's best spinner, if he's not playing Aussies have a realistic chance of winning this Test.

yes,with Ashwin.on this surface,nothing wrong with it

I would have played Ojha in place of Harbhajan.

What has he done to win his place back in the team?
